City of Las Vegas and Thai Cultural Arts Association of Las Vegas (TCAALV) will present Thai Performing Arts - Appreciation Day 2001 at Charleston Height Arts Center on September 13, 2001. It will be co-sponsored by Kids For a Better Society (KBS), Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI), Chinese American Academic Association of Nevada (CAAAN), among others. Dr. Tony T. Lei, President of WBTI and Chairman of CAAAN and Mrs. Judy K. Lei request the honor of your presence at the Event and Dinner Party in the Charleston Height Arts Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. Sapatra Chemprachum is the Chair/President of TCAALV. On August 26, 2001, she called Mrs. Judy Lei that Mr. Bobby Siller would like to have invitation card from Dr. Tony Lei. Bobby is the former Special Agent in Charge - FBI. He is a Member of the Nevada Gaming Control Board . Meanwhile, Bobby feels honor to be in Dr. Lei's guest group for Event and Dinner parties. On August 30, WBTI was pleased to fax the invitation card to Mr. Siller for Tony.

Asian American Community Honors U. S. Senator Honorable Harry Reid By Tiffany Chang

Asian American communitiy had been united together to hold an event and dinner party successfully to honor U. S. Senator Harry Reid. More than 384 against the 250 planned individuals of government officials, business owners and executives, organizational leaders among others attended the party at the Asia Palace Chinese Restaurant on August 24, 2001. Kenote Speaker was U.S. Senator Harry Reid. Guests of Honor presented were: U. S. Senator John Ensign (by Sonia Joya), U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley, U. S. Congressman Jim Gibbons (by Judith Ray),
and Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa.
U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley introduced Senator Harry Reid to the public with his successfully story to be the greatest political leader of Nevada arsing from the son of an ordinary family of mining worker. The first time as an honorable Master of Ceremony for Asian American community, Shelley' attractiveness and talent are really professional. She has been famous of her arts of leading on social activities since her college life. "On behalf of Washington Business and Technology Institute, I'm glad to be one of the Chairmen of this Event and Dinner Party for a Special Tribute to U.S. Senator Harry Reid. Following a successful tribute party to Nevada Supreme Court Justice Nancy Becker, this Event is an united efforts of all our Asian American community. Thanks to Dr. Raj Chanderraz, Dr. R. D. Prabha, Dr. Ram Singh, Mr. Tonie Sison, and Ms. Rita Vaswani to join me as Chairpersons. Thanks to all our guests of honor, special guests, hosts, guests, and participants. Thanks to Dr. Peter Lok as our wonderful Coordinator and Ms. Nancy Diaz to initiate the plan of this event with me. Finnally, we, Asian Americans have put all our effort and wisdom together to have this Special Tribute to our U. S. Senator Harry Reid, because Harry is our great hero to build a community where this and future generations will have more opportunities and advantages to live a prosperous life," spoke Dr. Tony Lei, the Chairman of the event and dinner party.
According to the prepared introduction by Congresswoman Berkley to the Party, "Dr. Tony Lei is the President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) and Chairman of Chinese American Academic Association of Nevada. He received his M.B.A. and Doctor of Education in Institutional Management degrees from Pepperdine University in 1969 and 1980, respectively. He had been an Associate Professor and a Fellow of Management of the Graduate School of Business Administration of National Chung Hsing University and Pepperdine University from 1985 to 1991 and 1991 to 1996, respectively. He has completed numerou scientific papers, text books, best selling books, and research projects during past 30 years in universities and academic institutes. His famous publications Modern Business Management, Information Management, Human Behavior Science, The Arts of Leading, among others have been adopted by several universities as text books."
The highlight of the event was the presentation of a plague of Award of accomplishment to Senator Harry Reid by the Chairmen of the event and dinner party. Fowllowing to sing a happy birthday song for Governor Kenny Guinn and Judge Jessie Walsh, Dr. Lei introduced a former State Senator Mark Malone presenting an Award to Senator Harry Reid from the State Board of Educaton of its elected Member Theresa Malone.

Senator and Majority Whip of the U. S. Senate Honorable Harry Reid smilled most of the time during the Party. Many of the partcipants in the Party had felt suprisingly Harry's friendship and popularity with his sociality. Harry and his wife Landra were the last two people after the accomplishment of the pleasent and successful party to leave sending by Dr. and Mrs. Tony Lei.

Senator Dina Titus Appointed by WBTI
Fellow of Public Administration

Nevada State Senator Dina Titus was appointed by Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) as a Fellow of Public Administration Institution (PAI) on August 15, 2001. She was very pleased to receive the congratulations call from Dr. Tony Lei early that morning. Having out of town for a couple of days, the call reminded her that at the suggestion of U. S. Senator Harry Reid, former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones has offered to step down as Nevada's Democatic National Committeewoman, and Titus will seek that job. This will give her some Washington, D. C., connections and enhance her political profile. With four trips a year to Washington, D. C., the committeewoman and committeeman from each state are expected to speak on party issues, raise money, and help recruit candidates.
"It's really my honor to be a Fellow of PAI," says Senator Dina Titus to the readers of Nevada Examiner. "I'm also honor to be invited by Dr. Lei as a Special Guest to the Event and Dinner Party for a Special Tribute to U.S. Senator Harry Reid on August 24, 2001," she continued. Titus will bring her husban Dr. Wright to attend the Party at the Asia Palace Chinese Restaurant this Friday evening. Dr. Wright is a Senior Professor in the Department of History at UNLV.
As a Professor of Political Science of UNLV , Titus is now a famous Senator of the State Nevada. She is also a State Senator Democratic Leader. On August 14, 2001, she said that she would run for Lieutenant Govenor if Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman runs for Nevada Governor. "She's brilliant, and she would be a great governor," Mayor Goodman siad of Senator Titus.
As to her new honor and appointment of August 14, 2001, Titus agreed with District Judge Valorie Vega on "This position will undoubtedly provide me with avenues for exploring improvements in public services to which I'm most dedicated." It is really a valuable advancement that we may have such an appropriate and achieved individual as a colleague to our Institution. Titus's expertise and good reputation in political science has been known locally and nationally. "With her outstanding professional expertise and practical public administration experience, Ms. Titu's acceptance as a fellow of PAI evidences that in supporting Director Dr. William Thompason with Fellows Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa, Professor Roy Adamson, and Justice of the Supreme Court Nancy Becker, they will form an excellent leadership team to launching PAI into the next milleunnium for academic excellence and administrative practicality," says Dr. Tony Lei, President of WBTI.

Attorney General Del Papa will participate the event and dinner party for a speicial tribute to U. S. Senator Harry Reid

Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa confirmed with Dr. Tony Lei that she would attend the Event and Dinner Party for a special tribute to U. S. Senator Harry Reid. It will be held at the Asia Palace Chinese Restaurant at 6:00 - 9:30 on August 24, 2001. Raj Channderaj, MD, Dr. Tony Lei, R. D. Prabha, MD, and Rita Vaswani are the Chairpersons. The Dinner Party is organized by Dr. Peter Lok, the Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).
Attorney General Ms. Del Papa is a native Nevadan. She received her bechelor of arts degree in political science from the oUniversity of Nevada, Reno in 1971 and received her law degree (J.D.) from the National Law Center of George Washington University in 1974. She practice law for 12 yeqrs and was also elected to the University of Nevada Board of Regents, Where she served from 1980 to 1986. In January 1987, She was sworn in as Nevada Secretay of State, the first woman to hold this office.
With very good personal traits and apperance, Ms. Del Papa is excellent both in production and human relations for her work performance as a famous public service leader. She was nominated by Dr. Lei for the honor as a Fellow of the Public Administration Institute of WBTI on August 7, 2001. She chaired the Nevada Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Council. She has been a leader of many association and committees. On March 6, 1997, a joint project was released by Attorney General Del Papa and Nevada's Division for Aging Services Chief of Elder Rights, Ms. Betsy Kolkoski, with a goal to help identify and prevent elder abuse. The Plan entitled "Elder Abuse: An Action Plan to Better Protect Nevada's Elderly." The first woman elected to the Office of Attorney General in Nevada, Attorney General Del Papa is now in her third term.
