You're invited to view the photos from Togo, Africa By Jennifer KungA draft of the following information was welcomed by John with pleasure for himself and to the English Service Fellowship: You're invited to view these photos online at KODAK EASYSHARE Gallery!*1 Just click on (copy the address to the internet) View Photos to get started.*2 http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=17241ec9.cbv8v0n9&x=0&y=-v9oi33 Date: Thu, 24 Aug 2006 10:08:52 -0700 (PDT) From: [mission1th2_8@yahoo.com] To: tojulei@yahoo.com Subject: Africa Mission Trip Photos John has shared photos with you. Hi, I just returned from my mission trip to Togo, Africa with River of Life Christian Church and I would like to share with you some of the pictures we took (just click on the album). Sincere thanks to you for praying hard for us. We worked among 4 villages, sharing with them the good news of Jesus, financial support, and candies (little did we know this would be so popular!). We baptized many in the river and many came to accept Jesus as their Savior, it was an unforgettable experience. We pray that the well the church paid to build will provide much needed water to one of the villages. The people there are very warm and they are joyful despite having very little. In Christ, John "God performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted". - Job 5:9 Africa Mission Trip (1 album) -------------------------------------------- References *1. The sky is beautiful on the River of Life! By Tiffany Chang***** Let God love you through others and let God love others through you. ---D. M. Herbert ***** What we are is God's gift to us. What we become is our gift to God. ---anon. ***** A consciousness of God release the greatest power of all. ---Science of Mind -------------------------------------------- In Revelation 22:1-3 of the Bible, it stated that "Then the angel showed me the river of water of life, as clear as crystal, flwing from the throne of god and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations." "It's a pleasure meeting you on this Sunday afternoon again at the River of Life Christian Church. I greatly enjoy our conversation. I'm happy to hear that you had attended the Evangelism Class that I'm teaching on Sunday mornings. The WBTI's website is valuable for its infomative and knowledgeable articles and reports. Thank you for your kind commands and your interest in having me contribute to the information on the WBTI's website," said Kevin Gordon, Esq., in the Fellowship of English Service on August 20, 2006. John was back home at 3:57 p.m. in the afternoon on August 19, 2006 from the Church Mission to Togo, Africa. "Everything is fine, we are ready to leave Paris to san francisco. See you soon," wrote John in his latest e-mail during the Mission trip to Togo. [Date: Sat, 19 Aug 2006 01:53:02 -0700] Praise God! It's important to receive a thoughtful response soon after last article was updated. The following is an e-mail from Miss Esther Huang to us on August 18, 2006: [[[Thank you Dr. Lei for updating us on the Togo mission trip! As John stated "Glory be to God" they have completed their mission work with success. Although initially there were some hindrance during departure, but we serve an awesome God who make the impossible possible, who turns what was meant for bad into good. Can't wait to hear details about Togo mission trip when the team arrives home! See you and Mrs. Lei at church!]]] Here is the most recent news of the Church Mission to Togo from John [Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2006 14:02:59 -0700 (PDT)]: "We have completed our mission work here with much success, all praises to God! We are flying back tomorrow night, and I have much to share with you. Thank you for your faithful prayers. Please also pass this email to Mike, I know he and his church is praying for us." This Sunday on Auust 20, 2006, the Sermon was delivered by Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church. The theme was on "The blessing of breakthrough." The Worship was directed by Pastor Doris Lin. It's our pleasure to post a short story from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren: Twenty-five centuries ago, Lao-tse, a Chinese sage, offered this profound insight; "The reason why rivers and seas receives the homage of a hundred mountain streams is that they keep below them. Thus they are able to reign over all the mountain streams. So the sage, wishing to be above men, putteth himself below them; wishing to be before them, he putteth himself behind them. Thus, though his place be above men, they do not feel his weight; though his place be before them, they do not count it an injury." So it is with humankind. Those who wish to yield the greatest influence will unselfishly position themselves below others, so as to serve them better. Bruce Barton told a parable two seas in Palestine that expounds on the wisdom of Lao-tse. One sea is flesh. Fish live in it. Trees and bushes grow near it. Children splash and paly in it. The river Jordan flows into this sea with sparkling water from the hills. People build their homes near it. Every kind of life is happier because it is there. The same river Jordan flows south into another sea. Here there are no fish, no green things, no children playing, no homes a building. Stale air hangs above its waters, and neither man nor beast will drink of it. What makes the difference between these neighbor seas? Not the Jordan River. It empties the same good water into both. Nor is the soil or the countryside. The differnece is that the Sea of Galilee receives water but does not keep it. For every drop that flows in, another drop flows out. The giving and receiving go on in equal measure. The other sea hoards its income. Every drop it gets it keeps. The Sea of Galilee lives and lives. The other sea gives nothing. It is called the Dead Sea. There are also two kinds of people in this world---those Dead Sea people who take without giving back, and the givers who remain fresh and vibrant by freely sharing of themselves.*1 Highly blessed by God, The English Service of River of Life Christian Church was growing. The specific charater of the event has been highlighted by the Coffee/Tea Fellowship. On Sunday, August 20, 2006, we had Rev. Tong Liu, Rev. Hing-Chai Cheng, Mr. Henry Hu, Mr. Kevin Gordon (Kevin Gordon, Esq.), Pastor Doris Lin (Miss Doris Lin), Mr. John Lei, Mrs. Jessica Wong, Mr. Walter Wong, Mr. Patrick Nolan, Ms. Lynn Ling Yang, Miss Vivian Chao, Miss Frances Chang, Miss Mariany Lee, Miss Tine Lo, Mr. Gino Ko, Miss Angel Ku, Miss Prudy Yu, Miss Orchid Soh, Mr. Meung Kim, Miss Esther Huang, Miss Vera Suherman, Miss Nicole Ying, Miss Emily Ho, Miss Heidi Hsu, Mr. Arthur Quach, Yee Tuck Yong, Miss Merry Xiao, Ms. Tao Long, Mr. and Mrs. John Perrott, Mr. Roland On, Dr. and Mrs. Tony Tung-tien Lei, and among others (names in random). The atmosphere of the Fellowship was pleasent and friendly. Hallelujah! "The Gospel of Jesus Christ; How to Become a Christian" and "How to Receive Jesus Christ as Your Savior and Thus Become a Christian" written by Kevin P. Gordon, Esq., were posted in this section on August 8-9, 2006. "I will leave for Togo, Africa tomorrow afternoon for a mission trip" written by John K. Lei and Jennifer Kung was also posted the next day. Brothers and Sisters from the English Service responded with applauses: "Dear Dr. and Mrs. Lei, Sorry for replying late. It was very nice meeting you on last Sunday afternoon at church. I appreciate your and John's contributions to the Coffee/Tea Fellowship of English service. Thank you for your loving heart to each brother and sister. I will continue praying for John's mission trip at Togo. I'm sure the more he preaches the Gospel the more he will receive from God; with your support and love, this trip will be more meaningful and joyful to John," wrote Miss Merry Xiao on August 17, 2006. "Thank you for introducing me Kevin's articles. Actually I'm attending his Evangelism class on Sunday school. These articles are good notes for me . He is a great teacher for this class. His teachings are not only from the Bible and books but also from his experiences and testimonies in preaching the Gospel. I was impressed by his knowledge about the Bible and his passion on proclaiming the Gospel. May many people will be blessed by God through you. See you this Sunday." "Dear Dr. Lei, It was very nice talking with you on Sunday at River of Life Christian Church. Thank you for your and your wife for providing food for the reception after the church service. I have attached the final versions of the two papers that I have written. They are both on the topic of how someone can receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and thus become a Christian. One is a two page version and one is a longer eight page version. Thank you for all of your help," wrote Kevin Gordon, Esq. After the articles were posted, he wrote again that "Thank you for posting my articles on the WBTI's website." "Thanks. Here is the power point for last Sunday sermon. God bless you," wrote Pastor Hing-Chai Cheng. "Thank you for passing this web. I've never known that Kevin has posted our church article in the web (The two articles were written by Kevin for WBTI's website). Yes, it is very nice to have you and auntie in this fellowship. And, your serving heart," wrote Miss Mariany Lee. "I'll pray for John trip to Togo. He would be a blessing and he would receive blessings, as well. Please let me know, if you or auntie needs assistance or help." "Thank you for informing me that you have updated an article on the WBTI website. As John stated, with the list we will be able to pray specifically for our church's mission team to Togo. ... God will continue to bless John and those that he loves richly because of his faithfulness. ... I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts regarding the articles I have read on the WBTI's website. Give me sometime time to reflect on what I have read I will send you 'a few words'," wrote Miss Esther Huang. "Thank you for inviting all of us yesterday. We enjoyed and had a very good time. If you or Mrs. Lei need any help while John is in mission trip, please feel free to call me at 408-368-????. Thanks again, Love in Christ," wrote Miss Vivian Chao. As reminded by Judy for the English Service, Miss Christine Tsai wrote, "I will try to make it if possible. Thanks to Judy. Have a nice weekend! ... We do pary for John's mission trip in Africa. They will have a safe and peace trip there." "Thank you for the information that you sent to me. I would like to write something to supporting our brothers and sister in the media, but my english writing is very bad. So let me learn more first than I would write in the media. Thanks God that you and Mrs. Lei joining our church and have participation in the serving God. May God bless all your family," wrote Miss Tine Lo. "I know John has gone to Togo with our pastor. We all pray for them a effective and significant journey in Africa. We trust God will bless Togo people," wrote Mr. Victor Luo. In an earlier day, Miss Frances Chang wrote us that "I appreciate for your patience, finally I've got it today! It seems a lot of information on that, I gotta take time to check it out later, anyway I extremely thanks you again!" "Thanks for asking about us. ... Cathy has also been busy with some year-end accounting at Cisco but that just ended last week. ... We will still come by to visit ROLCC every so often," wrote Mr. Tony Tsai. The famly includes Mr. Anothny Tsai, Mrs. Cathy Tsai, and Miss Christina (Ping) Tsai. "Thanks a lot for your message. The WBTI website is very nice. It contains a huge amount of information. Great! I am so sorry for being late to reply your email. Sorry for that. Again, thanks a lot," wrote an e-mail from Ms. Lynn Ling Yang to us. After taking a look at the WBTI's website, Ms. Savina Kao wrote to us that "It is great to get to know you and your wife on Sunday. Now I know why John becomes such an outstanding young man. :) It's also wonderful to know that your organization has been serving the community and our country. I hope we will get a chance to chat again on Sundays." "A man finds joy in giving an apt reply --- and how good is a timely word!" --- Proverbs 15 : 23 of the Bible ***** Nothing good or great can be done in the absence of enthusiasm. ---Tom Peters The Coffee/Tea Fellowship this Sunday (and every week in August) was highlightened by the "to serve and to give heartily" of Lei's family: John helped promote the Sevice and Fellowship. Judy coocked the whole things of the "Chau Mien" (chau noddles) and prepared the salad. Tony has inspired the the spirit and value of the English Service and Fellowship of River of Life Christian Church through publications locally, natioally, and internationally. Miss Vivian Chao joined Judy in preparing for the food of the Coffee/Tea Fellowship. She prepared the fruits and cakes. As a sincere believer of God, we found that we can even live as in the heaven in this World at the present. Whether people is living in the Heaven or in the Hell is up to his or her selection. With sincere love, you are likely to live in the Heaven. With cruel hate, you are likely live in the Hell. To fight and destroy each others for property and fame is where the place called Hell. To cooperate with each others to promote our quality of life will be the place where we people may make it as a Heaven.*2 Therfore, the Heaven is where the place full of love while the Hell is where the place full of hate. It is all depending on your heart to see whether you are in the Heaven or in the Hell. By using this standard, you may measure the quality or depth of yours in the Heaven or your in the Hell. Accordng to the oriental (not Asian) ways of life, people would suspect the one who always find out and praise the good characters and accomplishment of others. In the many thousand years of the past, it was one of the factor that hurt the encouragement for innovation and science development for the Asian people and countries. After a full applause by the audience at his speech, a professor automatically spoke his mind: "The people who enthusiastically give a hand to others, will certainly one day get a lot of more applauses!" Everytime when he was encouraged and praised by an individual, Dr. Tony Lei used to remind: "The one who knows how to praise other people, is the one herself or himself having certainly lots of more goodness which are worth for us to praise for!" *3 With honor as the Assistant Democratic Leader (now the Democratic Leader) of U. S. Senate, Senator Harry Reid wrote Dr. and Mrs. Tony Tung-tien Lei on January 11, 2001 from his office in Washington, D. C.: "The holiday season is a time for remembering the good things that have happened during the year, for reflecting on the many blessings of our lives, and for renewing the bonds of love and friendship that make our lives special." *4 The famous political leader from Nevada continued his literary and intimate writing that, "This year has been eventful for the Reid family. Our first child, Lana, and our three grandchildren live in the Washington area. Roary and three more of our grandchildren live in Las Vegas. Leif is in Reno with two more grandchildren and have just told us another is on the way. Josh just passed the bar, is living in Reno and also has announced our new daughter-in-law is expecting. Finally, our youngest, Key, lives in the Washington DC area with our newest grandchild. So, as you can see, we have the pleasure of grandchildren in each of our frequent stops, Las Vegas, Reno and Washington." *5 The Bible says: "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" (Matthew 6:26) Take what the Senator said to Dr. Tony Lei in his letter that, "On behalf of Landra and our family, I want to thank you thinking of us during this holiday season. Each holiday greeting reminds us that we are truly fortunate to have so many friends and loved ones with whom to share this special time." And if a humble individual like Dr. Lei may be treated so friendly by our Senator Reid, obviously everyone of us in Nevada would be taken care by his extended kindness. And this be our mode: "In God is our trust!" His love to his family and his friends revealled his dignified and humane spirit through his words in the letter. For a great and powerful person like him to have such a beautiful and kind heart is really the glory of God. "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil, cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves," says the Bible. (Romans 12:9-10) At the end of the letter, the famous U.S. Senator said that, "The Reid family has been richly blessed and we look forward to the years ahead. I hope that the season brings happiness and good fortune to you and your loved ones. With warmest regards." *6 [[[Listen to Sunday Service: (08.20.06 Sermon Rev. We are glad to have you here to worship God with us. As you walk into the church, youmight have noticed that we value the time of worship. What is worship? According to the scripture, it means to come before God's throne. First, you must surrender yourself before the Lord, lay down your burdens and the things that you love to boast about, and solely look at the Lord. Next, you must open your heart before the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to work in you. Let Him soften you(r) heart, heal your soul and speak to you," wrote Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church, Santa Clara, California.*7 "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." --- Galatians 5:22 of the Bible To a friend's house the road is never long. Let's share together with some of the golden words about firendship from the Bible:*8 ***** Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. ---Romans 12:10 ***** Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel. ---Proverbs 27:9 ***** Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. ---John 15:13-15 ***** He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend. ---Proverbs 22-11*9 "Sometimes, you will be moved in tears but don't feel embarrassed because God is working in you. Sometimes, you might have some sensation in your body such as heat or electricity flowing through you. Do not be afraid because it means He is with you. These are the manifestation of God's presence," pointed out Senior Paster Tong Liu.*10 U. S. Senator-elect John Ensign's great-grandfather first came to Nevada almost a hundred years ago as a miner and labored in its towns. This respectable man worked hard to provide for his family and taught his children the value of hard work, integrity, and independence. "The significance of life is to build and educate the continuous lives of the universe," said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). People came to America to seek the American dream. Even though not all of them can realize their American dream, eventually they could teach and help their children accomplish their contributions to our country.*11 As a born-again Christian, people have been inspired by his sincererity, humbleness, and credibility much more than just his wealthy and handsome appearance now. On October 15, John attended the worship service of the Liberty Baptist Church. He offered a short speech of testifmony. He said that he was very frustrated with his first taste of political failure, when he lost by a mere 428 votes to U. S. Senator Harry Reid. However, he believes God and has surrendered his fate to God. John's faith in God helped him to overcome his frustration and disappointment and enabled him to continue to strive to succeed. The Bible says "...though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed (1 Peter 1:6-7)". If a window was closed, God might re-open the window or even open a different door for those who are eager to utilize his or her knowledge and expertise to serve. As all Christians acknowledge - with God, anything is possible.*12 "What should you do if you don't know the songs? The best way is to close your eyes and listen and use the lyrics to pray in your heart. Do not just be an observe. If you feel tired from long standing, you may also sit down because the key is not about standing or sitting but is to come before the Lord and receive help. You must engage in the worship and never be on observer! God is pleased when we worship wholeheartedly. Let us do so to please Him," concluded Rev. Tong Liu in his message.*13 For many years, we taught people successfully to make money through the modern knowledge of organization and management in business. For the years to go, we will continue to encourage our friends to love the God, and to love our people, professionalism, community, and country.*14 "Incentives (of love) brings us with encouragement. Encouragement brings us with good work performance. In the 5:19 on Ecclesiastes of the Bible, it stated that 'When God gives any man (or woman) wealth and possessions, and enable him (or her) to enjoy them, to accept his (or her) lot and be happy in his (or her) work---this is a gift of God,'" said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute.*15 In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economic growth and personal prosperity, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and silver country through: the power of public service that based on knowledge is the power of rightousness; the advancement of technology, entreprenueship, and innovation; and the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service.*16 We believe the spiritual significance of "To serve and to give heartily". The English Service of River of Life Christian Church is blessing!*17 Jesus said, "Everyone who bears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." --- Matthew 7:24-25 of the "Bible" Our knowledge, wisdom, and professionalism are all achieved by our sincere love to God!" said President Dr. Tony Lei of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).*18 -------------------------------------------- References *1. How valuable is the spiritual significance of "To serve and to give heartily"! By Tiffany ChangTo honor God in all we do. To help people develop. To pursue excellence. You grow profitably. -------------------------------------------- Praise God! It's important to receive a thoughtful response soon after this article was updated. Cant wait to hear details about Togo mission trip when the team arrives home! Please also pass this email to Mike, I know he and his church is praying for us." This Sunday on Auust 13, 2006, the Sermon was delivered by Rev. Hing Chai Cheng, Associate Pastor of River of Life Christian Church. The theme was on "To love is to give." The Worship was directed by Mr. Henry Hu. On Sunday, August 13, 2006, we had Rev. Hing-Chai Cheng, Mr. Henry Hu, Mr. Kevin Gordon (Kevin Gordon, Esq.), Pastor Doris Lin (Miss Doris Lin), Mr. John Lei, Mrs. Jessica Wong, Mr. Walter Wong, Mr. Patrick Nolan, Ms. Lynn Ling Yang, Miss Vivian Chao, Miss Frances Chang, Miss Mariany Lee, Miss Tine Lo, Mr. Gino Ko, Miss Angel Ku, Miss Prudy Yu, Miss Orchid Soh, Mr. Meung Kim, Miss Esther Huang, Miss Vera Suherman, Miss Nicole Ying, Miss Emily Ho, Miss Heidi Hsu, Mr. Arthur Quach, Yee Tuck Yong, Miss Merry Xiao, Dr. I appreciate your and Johns contributions to the Coffee/Tea Fellowship of English service. Thank you for your loving heart to each brother and sister. I will continue praying for John's mission trip at Togo. I'm sure the more he preaches the Gospel the more he will receive from God; with your support and love, this trip will be more meaningful and joyful to John," wrote Merry Xiao on August 17, 2006. Judy coocked the whole things of the "Chau Fian" (Chau Rice) and prepared the salad. With warmest regards." *6 [[[Listen to Sunday Service: (08.13.06 Sermon Rev. Hing Chai Cheng; ??? It's because we see clearly in the bible that Jesus's ministry always involves preaching the kingdom of God and healing the sick. Even on the night of His betrayal, He was still healing the ear of the soldier arresting Him. Besides, He also sent out the disciples two by two and commanded them to do two things: to preach and to heal the sick. When addressing the great commission given by the Lord, Mathew put his emphasis on preaching the gospel and Mark put it on healing the sick. So, we cansee, the church today must minister in preaching as well as healing," wrote Rev. ---Proverbs 22-11*9 "Having healing prayer ministry does not mean that we want to replace the healing through doctors or medications. We believe God has grace for medical healing and prayer healing. To the believers, this means we have double grace and blessing. We should not neglect healing through prayer," pointed out Senior Paster Tong Liu.*10 U. As all Christians acknowledge - with God, anything is possible.*12 "Why do we have to do it in the public? Why can't we just pray in our own close? This is a faith lesson. It takes faith for the sick to come to the altar. It also takes faith for the prayer team to lay hands on you and proclaim healing. Faith is the essential element for healing prayer. Therefore, we must prepare ourselves for the healing ministry so it will bring God's glory. I believe God not only calls our church to worship but also to be a church of prayer. Let us learn the lesson together humility," concluded Rev. Tong Liu in his message.*13 For many years, we taught people successfully to make money through the modern knowledge of organization and management in business. For the years to go, we will continue to encourage our friends to love the God, and to love our people, professionalism, community, and country.*14 In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economic growth and personal prosperity, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and silver country through: the power of public service that based on knowledge is the power of rightousness; the advancement of technology, entreprenueship, and innovation; and the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service.*15 In Revelation 22:1-3 of the Bible, it stated that "Then the angel showed me the river of water of life, as clear as crystal, flwing from the throne of god and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations." We believe the spiritual significance of "To serve and to give heartily". The English Service of River of Life Christian Church is blessing!*16 Jesus said, "Everyone who bears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." --- Matthew 7:24-25 of the "Bible" "Our knowledge, wisdom, and professionalism are all achieved by our sincere love to God!" said President Dr. Tony Lei of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).*17 -------------------------------------------- References *1. On Sunday, August 13, 2006, we had Rev. Hing Chai Cheng, Mr. Henry Hu, Mr. Kevin Gordon (Kevin Gordon, Esq.), Pastor Doris Lin (Miss Doris Lin), Mr. John Lei, Mrs. Jessica Wong, Mr. Walter Wong, Mr. Patrick Nolan, Ms. Lynn Ling Yang, Miss Vivian Chao, Miss Frances Chang, Miss Mariany Lee, Miss Tine Lo, Mr. Gino Ko, Miss Angel Ku, Miss Prudy Yu, Miss Orchid Soh, Mr. Meung Kim, Miss Esther Huang, Miss Vera Suherman, Miss Nicole Ying, Miss Emily Ho, Miss Heidi Hsu, Mr. Arthur Quach, Yee Tuck Yong, Miss Merry Xiao, Miss Samantha Chen, Dr. After the articles were posted, he wrote again that "Thank you for posting my articles on the WBTI's website." "Thank you for passing this web. I've never known that Kevin has posted our church article in the web (The two articles were written by Kevin for WBTI's website). Yes, it is very nice to have you and auntie in this fellowship. And, your serving heart. I'll pray for John trip to Togo. He would be a blessing and he would receive blessings, as well. Please let me know, if you or auntie needs assistance or help. -Mariany," wrote Miss Mariany Lee. "Thank you for informing me that you have updated an article on the WBTI website. They will have a safe and peace trip there," wrote Miss Christine Tsai. "Thanks for asking about us. The Coffee/Tea Fellowship this Sunday (and every week in August) was highlightened by the "to serve and to give heartily" of Lei's family: John helped promote the Sevice and Fellowship. Judy coocked the whole things of the "Chau Fian" (chau rice) and prepared the salad. [[[Listen to Sunday Service: (08.13.06 Sermon Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church, Santa Clara, California.*2 "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." --- Galatians 5:22 of the Bible ***** Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. ---Proverbs 22-11*3 "Having healing prayer ministry does not mean that we want to replace the healing through doctors or medications. We believe God has grace for medical healing and prayer healing. To the believers, this means we have double grace and blessing. We should not neglect healing through prayer," pointed out Senior Paster Tong Liu.*4 U. Even though not all of them can realize their American dream, eventually they could teach and help their children accomplish their contributions to our country.*5 As a born-again Christian, people have been inspired by his sincererity, humbleness, and credibility much more than just his wealthy and handsome appearance now. As all Christians acknowledge - with God, anything is possible.*6 "Why do we have to do it in the public? Why can't we just pray in our own close? This is a faith lesson. It takes faith for the sick to come to the altar. It also takes faith for the prayer team to lay hands on you and proclaim healing. Faith is the essential element for healing prayer. Therefore, we must prepare ourselves for the healing ministry so it will bring God's glory. I believe God not only calls our church to worship but also to be a church of prayer. Let us learn the lesson together humility," concluded Rev. Tong Liu in his message.*7 For many years, we taught people successfully to make money through the modern knowledge of organization and management in business. For the years to go, we will continue to encourage our friends to love the God, and to love our people, professionalism, community, and country.*8 In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economic growth and personal prosperity, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and silver country through: the power of public service that based on knowledge is the power of rightousness; the advancement of technology, entreprenueship, and innovation; and the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service.*9 In Revelation 22:1-3 of the Bible, it stated that "Then the angel showed me the river of water of life, as clear as crystal, flwing from the throne of god and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations." We believe the spiritual significance of "To serve and to give heartily". The Gospel of Jesus Christ; How to Become a Christian By Kevin P. Gordon There are two key questions that I want to ask everyone. The first is, Have you come to the place in your spiritual life where you know for certain that if you were to die today you would go to heaven? The second question is, Suppose you were to die today and stand before God and He were to say to you Why should I let you into My heaven? What would you say? How you answer these two questions will determine whether you will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus Christ, or separated from God for ever being punished in hell. If you dont know for certain you are going to heaven, then you are not a Christian. The Bible says that, I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. I John 5:13. Jesus said, Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3. There is nothing we can do to earn or deserve heaven. Heaven is a free gift. It is a free gift that is received by faith alone in Jesus Christs finished work of dying on the cross. If your answer to the second question of why God should let you into heaven is anything other than trust and faith alone in Jesus Christs death on the cross and belief in Christs resurrection from the dead as definitive proof that He paid for your sins on the cross, then you are not a Christian. The words faith, trust, and believe all mean the same thing in the Bible. They are synonymous. We cannot add anything to Jesus death on the cross. He paid for our sins in full with His shed blood. Being water baptized, going to church, joining a church, reading the Bible, taking communion, being nice to people, or anything else that someone can do will not, and can not, get them to heaven, nor does doing these things make someone a Christian. In and of themselves, and done in their proper time, and with the proper understanding, these are good and wonderful things. But doing these things will not make someone a Christian, and not doing these things will not make someone not a Christian. What makes, or causes, a person to become a Christian, and thus to go to heaven when they die, is trusting in Jesus Christs death on the cross as the payment for their sins, and in nothing else. The Bible says that we become a Christian by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. This is the only way to become a Christian. The Bible says that, This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:22-24. know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. Galatians 2:16. All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. Isaiah 64:6. Only Christs righteousness is acceptable to God as payment for our sins. As humans sinners we need Gods grace and mercy. All people are sinners. We are sinners by commission, that is, by what we do, but we are also sinners by omission, that is, by what we dont do. Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. James 4:17. Every human being has broken all of Gods commandments. Sin is anything that violates Gods law or commandments or anything that displeases God in any way. Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:27-28. Because God must punish sin, we all deserve to go to hell. God is just. It says in the Bible, that God, ...will by no means clear the guilty. Exodus 34:7. But God is also a God of love. The Bible says that God is love. I John 4:8. So there was a problem. God loves people and doesnt want to send them to hell, but He is also just, and must punish sin. But no problem is too difficult for God to solve. God had a solution in His one and only Son, Jesus Christ. God was willing to accept a perfect sacrifice that willingly would choose to give His life as payment for the sins of all human beings. That includes all sins past, present, and future. But this sacrifice must not have ever committed any sin, by either commission, or omission, nor could He have been conceived in sin. However, the Bible tells us that when the first two human beings that God created, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God and sinned, that every human being that was born after that was born with an evil and wicked sin nature. Jesus met all of Gods requirements to be the acceptable sacrifice for payment of the sins of all human beings. He was perfect and sinless. Only Jesus, who was, and is, God in the flesh or human form, could meet Gods requirements for a sinless and perfect sacrifice. Faith in Jesus is the only way to heaven. There is no other way that God has provided. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men I Timothy 2:5-6. Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6. Jesus is the infinite God Man. He is one-hundred percent man and one-hundred percent God. He had to be human to pay for humans sins, but He also had to be God, because only God could be born sinless and live a perfect life. The Bible tells us that there is only one God. It says Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Deuteronomy 6:4. But He exists in three persons that are all co-equal and exist as God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. This is known as the Trinity, three persons, but one God. Jesus, being God in human flesh, while at the same time being Gods one and only Son, was the only sacrifice that God would accept. In order to be accepted by God as the perfect sacrifice for human sins He had to be born without inheriting human sin from a human father, i.e., He could not have been conceived with a sin nature. This could only be done if Jesus Christ was born of a virgin. This is exactly what happened. The Bible says that the angel Gabriel told Mary, his mother, The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:35. Jesus was born without an inherent sin nature and He lived a perfect life. He is the only human to ever do so. The Bible says speaking of Jesus that, God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21. Jesus willingly gave His life as a sacrifice. Jesus said, The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my lifeonly to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father." John 10:17-18. While Jesus was nailed on the cross he cried out It is finished. The Greek word used in the Bible for what Jesus said is Tetelestai. This word has been found on papyri commercial documents found in Egypt printed across an item that had been paid in full. So when Jesus declared on the cross It is finished or Tetelestai, He was declaring that He had paid the penalty for the sins of all human beings in full with His death on the cross that God had required. The debt for our sins that we owed has been paid by Jesus Christ. But even though the sins of all humans, past, present, and future, have been paid for by Christs death on the cross, not everyone receives forgiveness of their sins and goes to heaven when they die. It is only those who ask for forgiveness of their sins and receive it by faith that become Christians and receive forgiveness. Although becoming a Christian is a gift that Jesus paid for with His death on the cross, like any gift, it can be rejected. Jesus said "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. Matthew 12:30. We receive Christ as our Savior by faith. The Bible says that before we can receive Christ as our Savior we must repent of our sins. The Greek word for repent actually means to have a change of mind. So before someone can become a Christian they must change their mind about some things. This entails admitting that your sins are a violation of Gods laws and your being truly sorry that you have disobeyed and displeased God. It also means to change your mind from trusting in your own good works, and admit that you can never be good enough to save yourself, and thus place your trust in Christs death on the cross alone for your salvation, by faith. A person receives Jesus Christ by faith alone which is expressed in a prayer to God known as the sinners prayer. This is because it is the prayer that everyone who becomes a Christian must pray by faith. No one is born a Christian. All humans are born as unbelieving non-Christians headed for hell if they die before receiving Christ as their Savior. At some point in their life each person must make a personnel decision for themselves to place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior if they want to become a Christian. The Bible states that, That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10. Prayer is simply talk with God. When a person receives Christ as their Savior the Bible calls this the new birth. This new birth is a spiritual new birth. The person who becomes a Christian is forgiven of their sins and is what the Bible calls born again spiritually and the Holy Spirit instantly comes to live in their spirit at the moment they trust in Christ. Jesus said, I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. John 3:3. The Bible says that, Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for Gods wrath remains on them. John 3:36. The following is a suggested prayer to pray if you would like to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and thus become a Christian. Say the prayer out loud to God. Remember, you must not only pray, but truly mean the words, to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and thus become a Christian. If you say this prayer to God and really mean it, then all of your sins will be forgiven and you will be guaranteed that you will go to heaven when you die. Dear God, I am sorry for my sins. I repent of my sins. I admit and confess that I can never be good enough to earn my way to heaven or to pay for my own sins. I know that I deserve to be punished for my sins by having you send me to hell forever when I die. But I dont want to go to hell, I want to go to heaven. Please forgive me of all of my sins. I know that I do not deserve your forgiveness. But I ask that you forgive me of my sins because I am placing my trust in Jesus Christs death on the cross alone, by faith, as payment in full for all of my sins, those that are past, present, and future. I know that Jesus paid for them all with His blood that was shed or spilled on the cross. I believe and confess that Jesus Christ is your one and only Son. For you said in the Bible that, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. I believe and confess that Jesus Christ is God in human flesh and form and that He is Lord, and that you God, raised Him from the dead after three days, just as He said you would, as proof that Jesus really did pay for my sins and is your one and only Son. You said in the Bible, That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. I confess Jesus is Lord and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I receive Jesus as my Lord, as my God, and as my Savior by faith alone. I am now saved. I am now born again. I thank you God that my sins are forgiven because of my faith and trust in Jesus Christs death on the cross alone as the payment for my sins. I am trusting in Christ alone, and not in anything else. I thank you God that I have your guarantee and assurance that I am going to heaven when I die. You said in the Bible, I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. I John 5:13. And that, Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3. Thank you God that I am now a Christian. You are now my heavenly Father and I am you child. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Thank you for taking the time to read this article. The Gospel of Jesus Christ; How to Become a Christian By Kevin P. Gordon There are two key questions that I want to ask everyone. The first is, Have you come to the place in your spiritual life where you know for certain that if you were to die today you would go to heaven, or is that something you would say youre still working on? The second question is, Suppose you were to die today and stand before God and He were to say to you Why should I let you into My heaven? What would you say? How you answer these two questions will determine whether you will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus Christ, or separated from God for ever being punished in hell. The Bible says that before we can receive Christ as our Savior that we must repent of our sins. John 3:16. I believe and confess that Jesus Christ is God in human flesh and form and that He is Lord, and that you God, raised Him from the dead after three days as proof that Jesus really did pay for my sins and is your one and only Son. You said in the Bible, That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. I confess Jesus is Lord and I believe in my heart right now that God raised Him from the dead. I receive Jesus as my Lord, as my God, and as my Savior right now by faith alone. I am now saved. I thank you God that my sins are forgiven because of my faith and trust in Jesus Christs death on the cross alone as payment for my sins. I thank you God that I have your guarantee and assurance that I am going to heaven when I die. I thank you God that my sins are forgiven because of my faith and trust in Jesus Christs death on the cross alone as payment for my sins. I thank you God that I have your guarantee and assurance that I am going to heaven when I die. The Sea of Galilee people are the givers who remain fresh and vibrant by freely sharing of themselves By Tiffany ChangBlessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. ---Jeremiah 17:7-8 of the Bible -------------------------------------------- It's our pleasure to post a short story from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren: Twenty-five centuries ago, Lao-tse, a Chinese sage, offered this profound insight; "The reason why rivers and seas receives the homage of a hundred mountain streams is that they keep below them. On Sunday, August 6, 2006, we had Rev. Tong Liu, Mr. Kevin Gordon (Kevin Gordon, Esq.), Pastor Doris Lin (Miss Doris Lin), Mr. John Lei, Mrs. Jessica Wong, Mr. Walter Wong, Mr. Patrick Nolan, Ms. Lynn Ling Yang, Miss Vivian Chao, Miss Frances Chang, Miss Mariany Lee, Miss Tine Lo, Mr. Gino Ko, Miss Angel Ku, Miss Prudy Yu, Miss Orchid Soh, Mr. Meung Kim, Miss Esther Huang, Miss Vera Suherman, Miss Nicole Ying, Miss Emily Ho, Miss Heidi Hsu, Mr. Arthur Quach, Dr. and Mrs. Tony Tung-tien Lei, and among others (names in random). The atmosphere of the Fellowship was pleasent and friendly. Hallelujah! Some of the missing individuals from the Service for about two or three weeks have been coordinated through the e-mail. "Thanks for asking about us. Christine Tsai is another lady used to favor the English Service and Coffee/Tea Fellowship. In her e-mail to us showed that she was busy but needed motivation. The Coffee/Tea Fellowship this Sunday (and every week in August) was highlightened by the "to serve and to give heartily" of Lei's family: John helped promote the Sevice and Fellowship. [[[Listen to Sunday Service: (08.06.06 Sermon Rev. Tong Liu; ????? This month, we can share what God has done in our lives, give thanks to the Lord and encourage one another in the cell groups. The more we share about God grace, the more grace we will have to share. the more God's grace we share, the more thanksgiving we will give," pointed out Senior Paster Tong Liu.*4 U. Even though not all of them can realize their American dream, eventually they could teach and help their children accomplish their contributions to our country.*5 As a born-again Christian, people have been inspired by his sincererity, humbleness, and credibility much more than just his wealthy and handsome appearance now. As all Christians acknowledge - with God, anything is possible.*6 "In October, we will have a joined Harvest Crusade in San Jose with feature speaker, Rev. Greg Laurie from Southern California. Greg Laurie is a powerful evangelist raised up by God for every city proceeding Billy Graham. In the spirit of church unity, our church decides to join together with other local churches to participate in this crusade. There will be a prayer meeting for the crusade this afternoon from 5 pm - 6 pm in Church On the Hill. We encourage everyone to attend so that we can pray together in uinty for God's work in Silicon Valley," concluded Rev. The English Service of River of Life Christian Church is blessing!*10 -------------------------------------------- References *1. Ekeren, Glenn Van. How to Receive Jesus Christ as Your Savior and Thus Become a Christian By Kevin P. GordonI am a seeker of truth. In all areas of life, religion, science, business, and personnel, this has been my passion since I was a child. Since the age of ten, when I received Jesus Christ as my Savior, and thus became a Christian, I wanted to know that my decision was one based on evidence and truth. Ultimately a person makes a decision to become a Christian based on faith alone in Jesus Christs death on the cross for their sins, but this faith is based on logic and reason. In fact, the Biblical definition of faith is Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1. Jesus said, They shall know the truth, and the truth will set them free. John 8:32. And, for this reason I was born, and for this I came in to the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me. John 18:37. The word the Gospel means good news. That good news is that God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for the sins of every human being who has ever lived in the past, who is alive now, or who will ever live in the future. The Bible says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus paid for the sins of all humans with His blood that was shed, or spilled, on the cross. Then, after three days He rose from the dead just as He had said he would. God said in the Bible that if anyone repents1 of their sins, this means to be truly sorry for them, and places their faith, or trust, in Jesus death on the cross as the payment for their sins then He would forgive them of their sins and would guarantee them that they would go to heaven when they die. But those who do not place their trust in Christs death as the payment for their sins will have to spend an eternity in hell being punished, and paying for their own sins. Its that simple. Heaven is a free gift that can not be earned or deserved. It is a free gift that Jesus purchased on the cross for all humans. But it must be received by asking for it by faith. This is the greatest news ever told! You can go to heaven and spend eternity with Jesus Christ. It is your decision. Someone may say, These claims sound wonderful, but how can I know that they are true? One way is that God said that the Holy Spirit would convict each person of their sins and of their need of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus said But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; John 16:7-9. The Counselor is another word for the Holy Spirit in the Bible. The Bible gives us an abundance of evidence to support these claims. As a matter of fact, there is so much verifiable evidence providing proof for the truth of Christianity, that to the objective person who is an honest seeker of truth, the decision to receive Christ as their Savior is the only logical decision. So lets look at some of the evidence in support of the Bible. Any claim to investigate the claims of the Bible should be unbiased in order to fairly test the reliability of its statements. My training is as an attorney and as an accountant in the United States, and in both professions I have seen how people can take facts out of context, use appeals to emotion, or deliberately misconstrue laws and regulations in order to knowingly distort data. So as we look at some of the evidence, I pray that you will put aside and biases or preconceived ideas that you may have against Christianity, and that you will be an honest seeker of the truth. In this article I do not have room to present an extensive discussion of the proofs and evidence supporting the Bible. However, I would like to present some of them in order to show the Bibles reliability and truthfulness. It is important to know that the Bible is broken into two parts. These are the Old Testament, which presents the time before the events surrounding Jesus Christs birth, actually ending about 400 years before they took place, and the New Testament, the time running from just before Jesus birth and forward to the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible. It should be noted that the Old Testament was written in the Hebrew language and that the New Testament was written in Greek language.2 Greek is a very expressive language and sometimes the English language has a limited ability to express itself in comparison. An example would be that in the English language we say I love my friends, I love my wife, and that I love pizza. We arent referring to the same form of love in each instance. But the same word, love, is used. In Greek there are completely different words that are used for different forms of love. Some examples are that love for a friend would use the Greek word Phileo. This is where the word for the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania comes from and why it is know as the city of brotherly love and the word for the type of selfless and unconditional love that can only come from God is agape. I take the time to explain this so that when the Bible says that it is the perfect, inerrant Word of God written through the hands of men, people know that it is referring to the original documents, in the original languages.3 However, extensive archeological and historical comparison of ancient manuscripts of both the Old and New Testaments, including those of the Dead Sea Scrolls, prove that the current copies of the Bible that we have today in their original languages are error free, and the translations we have into English and other languages are reliable and convey accurately the message of the Bible from the original Hebrew and Greek. I do not have space to discuss the other evidences extensively in support of the Bible, such as the hundreds of Biblical prophesies that have been fulfilled, over 300 regarding the Messiah (the Hebrew word Messiah translated into Greek is Christ), or the historical and archeological evidence for the Bible. Nor do I have space to discuss the appearance of Jesus to the Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus, and Pauls conversion to Christianity as a result or the copious amounts of other proofs in support of the Bible. This evidence is documented in many sources and can be found in books, cassette tapes, CDs and on the internet. One of the best books ever written on the reasonableness and logicalness of Christianity is by C.S. Lewis and is entitled Mere Christianity. He was one of the most well known Christian writers of the 20th century and taught at both Cambridge and Oxford Universities in the United Kingdom. In Mere Christianity he wrote: I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic--on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg--or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. The evidence for the truth of the Bible and Christianity is irrefutable. I have only given you a small amount. But to the honest seeker of truth there can be no doubt that faith and trust in Jesus Christs death on the cross is the only way to receive forgiveness of sins and to spend an eternity in heaven, instead of spending an eternity in hell paying for your own sins. The only wise choice is to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, right now. The Bible says, I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2. So please, dont delay becoming a Christian. Becoming a Christian is a simple act of faith. Faith is trust or belief in someone or something to do something for you or on your behalf. Now that I have presented some of the evidence for the truthfulness and reliability of the Bible, I will give a longer presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, i.e., how to become a Christian. I will use the teachings from the Bible and from a book authored by Dr. D. James Kennedy, a pastor at a large Christian church in For Lauderdale, Florida. The book is entitled Evangelism Explosion4, and the presentation of Christianity taught in it is used in every nation on the Earth. The word evangelism is derived from the Greek word evangelizo, which means evangelizing. This word translated into English means preaching the word. In Acts 8:1 the Bible says On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. And in Acts 8:4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. The phrase preaching the word is the word from which evangelism is derived from in the Greek. The word here refers to how to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior. There are two key questions that I want to ask everyone. The first is, Have you come to the place in your spiritual life where you know for certain that if you were to die today you would go to heaven, or is that something you would say youre still working on? The second question is, Suppose you were to die today and stand before God and He were to say to you Why should I let you into My heaven? What would you say? How you answer these two questions determines whether you will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus Christ, or separated from God for ever being punished in hell. If you dont know for certain you are going to heaven, then you are not a Christian. The Bible says that I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. I John 5:13. Jesus said, Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3. You see, there is nothing we can do to earn or deserve heaven. Heaven is a free gift that can not be earned or deserved. It is a free gift that is received by faith alone in Jesus Christs finished work of dying on the cross. If your answer to God of why He should let you into heaven is anything other then trust and faith alone in Jesus Christs death on the cross and belief in Christs resurrection from the dead as definitive proof that He paid for your sins on the cross, then you are not a Christian. Water baptism, going to church, reading the Bible, taking communion, being nice to people, or anything else that you, or anyone can do, are simply human works, that can never cause us to earn or deserve forgiveness of sins or to be able to go to heaven. The Bible says that, But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:21-24. know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. Galatians 2:16. The Bible also says that, All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. Isaiah 64:6. Only Christs righteousness is acceptable to God as payment for our sins. Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6. As humans sinners we need Gods grace and mercy. You see mercy is not getting what we do deserve, which is Gods punishment in hell. But God went even above and beyond just offering us mercy. He also offers human sinners grace. Grace is getting what we dont deserve, which is an eternity in a perfect place with God, called heaven. The Bible tells us that, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:7-9. Once when one of the Queens of England asked her Christian chaplain for a way to help remember what Christian grace is he responded with a pneumonic or acronym. He told her to think of each letter of the word grace as standing for a separate word. Let G stand for Gods. Let R stand for Riches. Let A stand for At. Let C stand for Christs. And let E stand for Expense. He told her, when you put this together, think of G.R.A.C.E. as standing for Gods Riches At Christs Expense. In other words, when we place our trust by faith alone in Jesus Christs death on the cross as the payment for our sins, we get forgiveness of our sins and heaven as a free gift that Christ has paid for with His death on the cross. All people are sinners. We are sinners by commission, that is, by what we do, but we are also sinners by omission, that is, by what we dont do. The Bible says that, Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. James 4:17. The Bible says that we are also sinners by nature from the point of conception. King David, in the Old Testament, speaking by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote, Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Psalm 51:5. In addition, the Bible says The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9. So God provided a solution in His one and only Son, Jesus Christ. God was willing to accept a perfect sacrifice that willingly would choose to give His life as payment for all humans sins. As stated earlier, King David in the Old Testament speaking by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote, Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Psalm 51:5. In addition, the Bible says The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9 Jesus met all of Gods requirements to be the perfect, sinless, acceptable sacrifice that God would accept as payment for human sins. Jesus was the only sacrifice that God was willing to accept as payment for human sins. Jesus is the infinite God Man. He is one-hundred percent man and one-hundred percent God. He had to be human to pay for humans sins, but He also had to be God, because only God could be born sinless and live a perfect life. The Bible tells us that there is only one God. It says, Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Deuteronomy 6:4. But He exists in three persons. We can see this in both the Old Testament and the New Testaments of the Bible. In the Old Testament the Bible says Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness," Genesis 1:26. The Hebrew word for us in this verse is Elohim, meaning more than one or plural. But the Bible is clear that there is only one God. We also see in the Bible all of the attributes of God, i.e., eternal, all powerful and all knowing, attributed to God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist the Bible says, When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased. Luke 3:21-22. Here we see all three persons of the one God manifested at one time. Two examples from every day life to help understand this spiritual truth are a chickens egg and the three states of water. A chickens egg has a shell, an egg white, and a yoke. It has three parts, put it is still one egg. Another example is water. Water exists in three states. It exists as steam or water vapor, as ice or as solid, and as a liquid. Although water exists in these three forms, it is still one thing. It is water. But it exists in three forms. In a similar way God exists in three persons, but He is still one God. Although these examples are not perfect analogies, they can help humans to understand a spiritual reality, using tangible objects that we are familiar with in everyday life. Christian teachers, or theologians, have come to call the concept of one God existing as three persons as the Trinity. Although the word Trinity is not found in the Bible, it is a helpful word to describe what the Bible teaches. The Bible states that "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9 Jesus, being God in human flesh, while at the same time being Gods one and only Son, was the only sacrifice that God would accept. In order to be accepted by God as the perfect sacrifice for human sins He had to be born without inheriting human sin, i.e., He could not have been conceived in with a sin nature. This means Jesus could not have been born through a human father. This could only be done if Jesus Christ was born of a virgin. This is exactly what happened. The Bible says that the angel Gabriel told Mary, The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:35. Mary, Jesus mother, was the human incubator which God used to bring Jesus into the world. Jesus was not only born without an inherent sin nature, but he lived a perfect life, the only human being to ever do so. The Bible says, speaking of Jesus that, God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Corinthians 5:21. The Bible says in another place regarding Jesus, For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we areyet was without sin. Hebrews 4:15. When Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane He said to Peter, Put your sword back in its place, Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?" Matthew 26: 52-54. The Bible also says that the only sacrifice that God would accept is one whose blood is be shed or spilled. It says, In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Hebrews 9:22. In addition, Jesus prophesized that God would raise Him from the dead after three days, which God did. Speaking of Jesus, the Bible says, He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. Mark 8:31. The term the Son of Man refers to Jesus. This is called Jesus Christs resurrection from the dead. Jesus perfectly fulfilled all of Gods requirements. He proved that He was the only sacrifice that God would accept as payment for peoples sins. While Jesus was nailed on the cross he cried out It is finished. The Greek word used in the Bible for what Jesus said is Tetelestai. This word has been found on papyri commercial documents found in Egypt printed across an item that had been paid in full. So when Jesus declared on the cross It is finished or Tetelestai, He was declaring that He had paid the penalty for all humans sins in full with His death that God had required. The debt for our sins that we owed has been paid in full by Jesus Christ. Although the sins of all humans, past, present, and future, have been paid for by Christs death on the cross, not everyone receives forgiveness of their sins and goes to heaven. But only those who ask for forgiveness of their sins by faith in Jesus Christ. You see, although becoming a Christian is a gift that Jesus paid for with His death on the cross, like any gift, it can be rejected. Jesus said "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. Matthew 12:30. There is only one sin that will prevent a person from going to heaven when they die and that is the sin of not receiving Jesus Christ as their Savior. This is because, once you place your trust in Christ and ask for God to forgive you of your sins based on the fact that Jesus paid for them on the cross, remember It is finished or the Greek word Tetelestai, then all of your sins are forgiven, past present and future. You are then guaranteed that you will be forgiven and go to heaven when you die. We receive Christ as our Savior by faith. He is called the Savior, because by dying on the cross, He saves all those who place their trust in Him from the penalty of their sins, which would be hell. Referring to Joseph, the husband of Jesus physical and earthly mother, Mary, the Bible says, But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:20-22. True Christian saving faith is not mere intellectual assent, knowledge, or belief in something. It is a complete, total, one-hundred percent trust in Christs death on the cross alone as the payment for our sins. It is not mere intellectual assent to certain historical facts about Jesus Christ. An example of true faith would be if I showed you a chair. I could tell you how the chair can hold a person weighing over a thousand pounds, that it is made of re-enforced steel, and that it has never failed to hold up or support someone who sat in it. I could even show you the engineering report form the manufacturer verifying everything that I had told you. You could intellectually agree or assent to everything I said, but until you sat in the chair for yourself and let it hold you up or support you, you would not have true faith or, be trusting in it. In the same way receiving Christ means not just having intellectual assent or just agreeing that He died on the cross for your sins, but it means actually placing you trust or faith in His death on the cross as the payment for your sins so you could be forgiven and go to heaven. This is what Biblical saving faith is in order to become a Christian. The Bible says that before we can receive Jesus Christ as our Savior we must repent of our sins. The Greek word for repent actually means to have a change of mind. So before someone can become a Christian they must change their mind about some things. This entails admitting that your sins are a violation of Gods laws. It also means being truly sorry that you have disobeyed and displeased God with your sins. It also means to change your mind from trusting in your own good works, and admit that you can never be good enough to earn your way to heaven, and thus place your trust in Christs death on the cross alone for your salvation, by faith alone. You see, Christianity is not do, it is done, this means Jesus has already done all the work on the cross. We just have to receive it by faith. That is why the Bible calls Christians believers, not doers. A person receives Christ by faith which is expressed in a prayer to God known as the sinners prayer. The Bible says, referring to Jesus, Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12. In another place the Bible says, This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men I Timothy 2:3-5. Amen. I beg and plead with everyone to pray to receive Christ as your Savior right now, if you have not done so already. The Bible says that anyone who does not do so before they die will spend an eternity separated from God being punished for their sins in hell. But for those who receive Christ, and thus become a Christian, then they will spend an eternity with Jesus Christ in a perfect place called heaven. The Bible says that for a Christian to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The decision is yours. I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2. God loves you and wants you to receive Christ as your Savior. I pray that you will choose to place you trust in Christ as the payment for your sins and receive the new life in Jesus Christ that can be yours. Thank you for taking the time to read this article. Then the angel showed me the River of the water of Life By Tiffany ChangBlessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. ---Jeremiah 17:7-8 of the Bible -------------------------------------------- Highly blessed by God, The English Service of River of Life Christian Church was growing. When I looked back the services for the 21 Days, I saw the commitment and sacrifices made by brothers and sisters. I was very touched. Not one zone missed the responsibilities and every team worked together wholeheartly like an army. Everyone look his/her position and fulfilled the duty. I want to thank everyone who participated in the event. We were able to see God's great works because of your services," wrote Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church, Santa Clara, California.*1 "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." --- Galatians 5:22 of the Bible ***** Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Pastor Bryon and his wife served in our church for the past four years. Many brothers and sisters are blessed by their lives. Therefore, we are going to collect a special love offering for them. May God continue to lead their path," pointed out Senior Paster Tong Liu.*3 U. Even though not all of them can realize their American dream, eventually they could teach and help their children accomplish their contributions to our country.*4 As a born-again Christian, people have been inspired by his sincererity, humbleness, and credibility much more than just his wealthy and handsome appearance now. As all Christians acknowledge - with God, anything is possible.*5 "Cell groups will resme in August. I want to encourage all the cell leaders not to postpone any cell meeting. If you don't start the meeting right away, it will continue the delay for another month. This will impact the operation of all cell groups in Semptember. Also I ask every cell member to pray for your cell group so that the Spirit of God can re-engergize the cell. In this new season, let's come together to experience new grace from God," concluded Rev. Tong Liu in his message.*6 For many years, we taught people successfully to make money through the modern knowledge of organization and management in business. For the years to go, we will continue to encourage our friends to love the God, and to love our people, professionalism, community, and country.*7 In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economic growth and personal prosperity, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and silver country through: the power of public service that based on knowledge is the power of rightousness; the advancement of technology, entreprenueship, and innovation; and the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service.*8 -------------------------------------------- References *1. God bless the English Service of River of Life Christian Church! By Tiffany ChangThen the angel showed me the river of water of life, as clear as crystal, flwing from the throne of god and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. (Revelation 22:1-3) -------------------------------------------- The English Service of River of Life Christian Church has been highly blessed by God. It continues to grow. The specific charater of the event has been highlighted by the Coffee/Tea Fellowship. On Sunday, July 23, 2006, we had Rev. Hing Chai Cheng, Mr. Kevin Gordon (Kevin Gordon, Esq.), Pastor Doris Lin (Miss Doris Lin), Mr. John Lei, Mrs. Jessica Wong, Mr. Walter Wong, Ms. Lynn Ling Yang, Miss Vivian Chao, Miss Frances Chang, Miss Tine Lo, Mr. Gino Ko, Miss Angel Ku, Mr. Victor K. Luo, Mr. Jung-fong Kang, Miss Prudy Yu, Miss Orchid Soh, Mr. Meung Kim, Dr. and Mrs. Tony Tung-tien Lei, and among others (names in random). The atmosphere of the Fellowship was pleasent and friendly. Hallelujah! "Praise God! In the past 21 Days Healing Crusade, we experience God's work every night. I am very thankful to see brothers and sisters serving the Lord together with joy and deligence. This is the true purpose for having the 21 Days Healing Crusade because spiritual growth does not come solely from hearing the messages. In the past, I saw many people so hunger for God that they would attend class after class, but their lives could not grow because they did not have a place to serve. During the 21 days meetings, every night I saw approximately 100 brothers and sisters were mobilized to serve and they also witnessed the fruits of their service. Some were saved and some were healed. I believe this is the way for spiritual growth," wrote Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church, Santa Clara, California.*1 "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." --- Galatians 5:22 of the Bible Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. ---Jeremiah 17:7-8 of the Bibl*2 "We have seven more nights of meetings in the coming week. Let me encourage you not to miss this chance to experience God if you have not atended the meetings. If you haven't invited any friends, please cherish the opportunity. Get rid of your pride and invite your friends. You never know, he might agree to come and get saved. Hallelujah! May we experience God together," pointed out Senior Paster Tong Liu.*3 U. Even though not all of them can realize their American dream, eventually they could teach and help their children accomplish their contributions to our country.*4 As a born-again Christian, people have been inspired by his sincererity, humbleness, and credibility much more than just his wealthy and handsome appearance now. As all Christians acknowledge - with God, anything is possible.*5 For many years, we taught people successfully to make money through the modern knowledge of organization and management in business. For the years to go, we will continue to encourage our friends to love the God, and to love our people, professionalism, community, and country.*6 In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economic growth and personal prosperity, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and silver country through: the power of public service that based on knowledge is the power of rightousness; the advancement of technology, entreprenueship, and innovation; and the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service.*7 -------------------------------------------- References *1. America can continue to be a vessel of blessings to all nations By Rev. Tong Liu (主任牧師劉彤) and Jennifer Kung"July 4th is the Independence Day. As we enjoy the holiday, let's not forget to lift up our hands to pay for America. Ask God to have mercy on this nation and give wisdom to the national leaders in governing so that America can continue to be a vessel of blessings to all nations," said Senior Pastor Tong Liu (主任牧師劉彤) of River of Life Christian Church (矽谷生命河靈糧堂), Santa Clara, California.*1 Praise the Lord. His great presence was among us in the conference this year. Through many meetings and workshops, God has released His grace to every one's life. Many special thanks to all the workers with or without titles. Thanks you for your whole-hearted service. May the Lord reward you with double portion of His favor. "Following the conference, we will have 21 Day Healing Crusade. When we receive the power from Heaven, the best way is to release the power of God. Let us experience His language work in prayer, in inviting friends and in healing," pointed out Rev. Tong Liu (主任牧師劉彤). -------------------------------------------- References *1. Liu, Tong. Welcome to River of Life Christian Church (`Z)! By Reverend Tong Liu (主任牧師劉彤)*1 and Jennifer KungIt is our pleasure to post the following information after we attended the English Worship Service of the River of Life Christian Church (`Z) this afternoon: We are glad to have you here to worship God with us. "The Ling-Leung conference has a few purposes. First of all, it will lift up our spiritual life. We must seek continuously for renewal from the Lord in order to receive power to overcome the world. ... Second, the conference will allow us to unite together in the Spirit. ...," pointed out Senior Pastor Tong Liu (主任牧師劉彤).*2 "Third, it's a way to expand the vision. Through Ling-Leung conference, God can open our eyes and help all the churches to see what He is doing around the world. ... Forth, this is a time to connect ministries together. The churches no longer have to fight on their own, but can join together yo train others on the mission works and so the gospel can be preached more effectively," Reverend Tong Liu (主任牧師劉彤) continued.*3 The Ling-Leung Conference will be held by River of Life Christian Church On June 29 - July 2, 2006 in Santa Clara, California. Reverend Liu thanked all the volunteers who have given their time and effort for the Conference. He believed that their hard work would not be in vain. Amazing, we planned to have 1,700 people to attend the Conference, but at the present time we have already 21,000. -------------------------------------------- References *1. An amazing donation to River of Life Christian Church (`Z) By Jennifer KungDr. and Mrs. Tony Lei are traveling in San Jose, California since may 14, 2006. They are now living for the Summer with their elder son John in Rivermark, San Jose. The following is the "Message from the Senior Pastor" on May 21, 2006. Rev. Tong Liu is the Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church (`Z) in Silicon Valley:*1 First of all, welcome you to River of Life Christian Church (`Z) in Silicon Valley to worship God together with us. Thanks to God, on last Friday, in the "God's house, our home" we have implemented another miracle. Because of other mission, Loren Cunningham must leave away from us, but we appreciated very much for his special trip to help us foundraising for our Church building. If you did not donate on Friday, you may still write the donating card and put it to the donating bag. Today is our annual united worship. Thanks God for giving us such a big family with holly spirit. We have elders, middle ages, young people, and many more children and teen ages. Normally, we have few chance to be with them. Today, it is an opportunity to learn to worship together in the house of God. Paul taught us in Ephesians 3:18: We should understand with those disciples that how Christian love is wide and deep! Let us share it together with each other today.*2 The origianl purpose of the amount of donation was set up at $1,200,000.00. Amazing, the final amount of the donation on last Friday, May 19, 2006 was over 7,180,000.00. Rev. Tong Liu thanked the miracle by God. He wished that the Church should have a fundraising at $11,000,000.00. What next we should do after these amazing money? He pointed out that, the Church would have the following four missions: (1). To join and develop global and local spiritual entrepreneurship. (2). To establish and implement the Institution of pastoral leadership program. (3). To particiapate the community service and promotion. (4). To strenghten the physical facilities improvement of the Church.*3 Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Nothing is impossible for Him. He is the Almighty. Amazing was the successful donation on last Friday under the leadership of Senior Pastor Tong Liu with the Holy Spriritual from God. --------------------------------------------- References *1.
