Freedom, Democracy, and Entrepreneurship
By GSBPA of WBTI

"Lee Iacocca told us that management is nothing more than motivating other people. I agree with U. S. Congresswoman as once she said that the knowledge delivered by the publications of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) through its multimedia inspire us with a positive thinking to love our people, community, professionalism, and country. I'm impressed that the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) of WBTI quoted again lots of valuable words of positive thinking," said Judge Natalie Tyrrell, Justice of the Peace of North Las Vegas. She likes to read the WBTI website (http://communitylink.reviewjournal.com/lvrj/wbti) with colorful and creative design. Even as the number 36,000th visitor of the website, she is proud to be on the list. We express regret for that the numbers of this website are limited because of its contends by nature of the academic and professioal features. People may ask that "How many people could and should be the readers of the book written by our famous scientist Albert Einstein?"
We are quite encouraged through the commends by Dr. Andy Benton, U. S. Senator John Ensign, Dr. Charles Runnels, U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley, among others. And thus, we try to offer you the following inspiration of words:

Chief Justice Bill Maupin names Dr. Tony Lei as a 'Son of Nevada'
By Cheryl Moss, Jessie Walsh, and Tiffany Chang

It is not unusual here in Nevada to have an individual who always gives herself or himself to the work both for the people and in Lord, because she or he knows that her or his labor for the people and in Lord is not in vain. Whenever we do, work at it with all our heart, as working for the Lord, not solely for men, since we know that we will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.
"WHEREAS, it is an honor and privileg for the Board of County Commissioners to recognize those extraordinary individuals, groups, or programs which enrich the lives of many in our community; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Tony T. Lei, Ed. D., a famous resident of Clark County for more than nine years, has served the community through a variety of venues including: President of Washington Business and Technology Institute; Senior Advisor for Congresswoman Shelley Berkley, Office of Clark County District Attorney, and Constanble's Office of Las Vegas Township; Director and Secretary of South Shores Community Association; Honorary President of Great Wall College and Shiamen Straits Foreign Language College; Chairman of Chinese American Academic Association of Nevada; Contributing Editor and Columnist of "Nevada Examiner"; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Tony Lei received his M.B.A. and Doctor of Education in Institutional Management degrees from Pepperdine University in 1969 and 1980, respectively. He had been an Associate Professor of Information Management and a Fellow of Management of the Graduate School of Business Administration of National Chung Hsing University and Pepperdine University from 1985 to 1991 and 1991 to 1996, respectively.
Now, THEREFORE, WE, the Board of County Commissioners of Clark County, on this occasion, October 1, 2002, in celebration and recognition of his distingueshed professionalism and outstanding accomplishments, do hereby recognize and honor Dr. Tony T. Lei, Ed. D.
and urge all citizens to join us wishing him a succesful and bright future."
"The above Proclamation was signed by the Clark County Chairman Dario Herera, Vice-Chair Myrna Williams, Commissioners Yvonne Atkinson Gate, Marry Kincaid-
Chauncey, Chip Maxfield, Erin Kenny, Bruce L Woodbury, and attested by County Clerk Shirley B. Parraguirre. As a humble and sincere American Coolie (hardworking man) like him, Dr. Tony Lei has given freely of his time, energy, knowledge, and talents, working on projects and events that contribute to the quality of life in Nevada and has dedicated himself to public service to not only the Asian Community but to all citizens. It's my great pleasure to name Dr. Tony Lei as a Son of Nevada," said the Chief Justice of Nevada Supreme Court William Maupin at the Celebration Party to "Nevada Examiner" and "Reviewjournal.com" at the Steak House of Binion's Horseshoe Club, Las Vegas on October 10, 2002. The Party was held by WBTI to celebrate William Maupin's being appointed as its Fellow of the Public Administration Institution (PAI) and as its Honorary Chairman of the Clark County District Attorney and Police Civil Commission (CCDAPCC).
After the 911 last year, we need to encourage the launching of activities to promote and attract tourism, trade, and investment from foreign countries to Nevada by Dr. Tony Lei. He has been honored by Xiamen, Fukien, China; China Business Chain, Inc.; Shanghai People's Municipal Government Cooperation Office; and China State Development and Planning Commission as Chairman of Nevada Expo Mission to China to attend Sisters Universities Establishment Celebration; the Annual International Mayors for City Development Forum; and the Shanghai International Industrial Fair and Yangtze Investment Project Expo. Dr. Tony Lei will organize a sound team joined by many high-ranking officials both of Nevada and California. U. S. Congresswoman Shelley
Berkley, Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt, and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman have been honored by WBTI as Honorary Chairpersons of our Nevada Expo Mission to China.
As the "Bible" inspired us that, "When God gives any man wealth and possesions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work --- this is a gift of God." *

Senator Dina Titus* Appointed by WBTI
as a Fellow of Public Administration
By Cheryl Moss and Tiffany Chang

"Our greastest asset at Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) is our people --- not facades or fountains, not landscapes or lakescapes, but people --- faculty, advisory board members, administration, and a host of friends," said President Dr. Tony Lei of WBTI. "On the publications of WBTI through multimedia locally, nationally, and internationally, we have featured many of our own: U. S. Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign, U. S. Representatives James Gibbons and Shelley Berkley, Governor of Nevada Kenny Guinn, Pepperdine University President Andrew Benton, Chief Federal Judge Lloyed Geroge, Dr. Charles Runnels, Former Chief Justice and now Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court William Maupin, Dr. William Thompson, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, among others."
"Enriching our research and community service process were made possible by these friends who joined and supported this academic institute. WBTI is really a chain of dedicated individuals, intellectuals, and professionals who join to research, serve, support and to give. We take great pride of our people, including our outstanding faculty members. They are some of the best in the world. We are sincere servers to help improve the quality of life of all the residents and visitors of Nevada."
Nevada State Senator Dina Titus was appointed by Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) as a Fellow of its Public Administration Institution (PAI) on August 15, 2001. She was very pleased to receive the congratulations call from Dr. Tony Lei early that morning. Having out of town for a couple of days, the call reminded her that at the suggestion of U. S. Senator Harry Reid, former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones has offered to step down as Nevada's Democatic National Committeewoman, and Dina Titus will seek that job. This will give her some Washington, D. C., connections and enhance her political profile. With four trips a year to Washington, D. C., the committeewoman and committeeman from each state are expected to speak on party issues, raise money, and help recruit candidates.
"It's really my honor to be a Fellow of Public Administration Institution," says Senator Dina Titus to the readers of "Nevada Examiner". "I'm also honor to be invited by Dr. Tony Lei as a Special Guest to the Event and Dinner Party for a Special Tribute to U. S. Senator Harry Reid on August 24, 2001," she continued. Dina Titus will bring her husband Dr. Wright to attend the Party at the Asia Palace Chinese Restaurant on the Friday evening. Dr. Wright is a Senior Professor in the Department of History at UNLV. The Event and Dinner Party was initiated by Dr. Tony Lei and Ms. Nancy Diaz. It will be chaired by Dr. Tony Lei, Dr. R. D. Prabhu, Dr. Ram Singh, Mr. Tonie Sison, and Ms. Rita Vaswani. Joined with more than 36 hosts of the Dinner Party by community and organizational leaders, business exevutives and owners, and officials, we are expecting to have guests and participants about 380 people.
As a Professor of Political Science of UNLV , Dina Titus is now a famous Senator of the State Nevada. She is also a State Senator Democratic Leader. On August 14, 2001, she said that she would run for Lieutenant Govenor if Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman runs for Nevada Governor. "She's brilliant, and she would be a great governor," Mayor Goodman siad of Senator Titus.
To her new honor and appointment as a Fellow of Public Administration Institution (PAI) of WBTI on August 15, 2001, Senator Titus agreed with District Judge Valorie Vega on "This position will undoubtedly provide me with avenues for exploring improvements in public services to which I'm most dedicated." It is really a valuable advancement that we may have such an appropriate and achieved individual like Dina as a colleague to our Institution. Senator Titus' expertise and good reputation in political science has been known locally and nationally. With her outstanding professional expertise and practical public administration experience, Senator Titus' acceptance as a fellow of PAI evidences that in supporting Director Dr. William Thompason with Fellows Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa, Professor Roy Adamson, and Justice of the Supreme Court Nancy Becker, they will form an excellent leadership team launching PAI into the next milleunnium for academic excellence and administrative practicality.
"The maturity of citizens society is the fundamental guarantee for the normal processing of democratic politics. In a citizens society, it depends highly on the team of public intellectuals. A good public intellectual interates peoples' opinion, analyze rationally, and points out wise perspectives and notice. Dina plays an important and significant responsibility of mission as an achieved intellectual at the same time as an important statewoman. Our Nevada is critically in need of these intellectuals and professionals in every kind of fields," said Dr. Tony Lei, President of WBTI.

It is really a valuable advancement that we may have such an appropriate and achieved individual as a colleague to our Institution. Titus's expertise and good reputation in political science has been known locally and nationally. With her outstanding professional expertise and practical public administration experience, Ms. Titu's acceptance as a fellow of PAI evidences that in supporting Director Dr. William Thompason with Fellows Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa, Professor Roy Adamson, and Justice of the Supreme Court Nancy Becker, they will form an excellent leadership team to launching PAI into the next milleunnium for academic excellence and administrative practicality.

We believe the words by Lee Iacocca that, "Management is nothing more than motivating other people." We also believe the words of Brooker T. Washington that, "Few things help an individual more than to place responsibility upon him and to let him know that you trust him." United we stand, not just for our Asian American Community only but for all our people and nation as a whole. Asian American Community has won recognition for contribution to Nevada by American Main-stream. The main reason for this recogniition is the great and cooperative wisdom and effort that we the Asian American ommunities have continuously participated and offered to the mainstream society in Nevada.* We understad that nothing great was done without much enduring, but we also should understand that nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiam. Democracy, freedom, and entrepreneurship are the three best "Spirit of America". To pursue an American Dream as encouraged by U. S. Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign, we Asian Americans need to work together more diligently with our effort and wisdom for our and our future generations to have a better quality of life.

Increase Your Potential and EQ for Success
By Natalie Tyrrell* and Tiffany Chang

"It's been said there are three kinds of people: (1) Those who watch things happen. (2) Those who make things happen. (3) Those who wonder what happened? Don't be part of the third catergory of clueless people who wonder around aimlessly. It is not enough to breathe a sigh and figure that your learning days areover. Here you are in this world, this world that is undeniable the way it is. You can do nothing to change what happended in the past, yet you can do everything to vastly improve what lies in the future. You have the ability to build, to create, to improve yourself and your future. You can MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. Remember you have immense potential. Your future is vast and awesome. If you keep learning and improving, your destiny will bring you long term happiness, enrichment, success, love and much more. As the martial art student realized, his reward of the black belt represented the beginning - the start of a never-ending journey of discipline, work and the pursuit of an ever-higher standard. 'What is the true meaning of the diploma you are about to receive?' This is your Commencement Day. And it is only fitting to say to you, as we salute you for your accomplishment, that, truly, this is only the beginning," delivered the Commencement Speech at SMHS 2002 recently by Becky Ung, President of the School Board for San Marino Unified School District, California.
Becky is a national and international famous Speaker in California, United States; Taipei, Taiwan; and Beijing, Shanghai, Amoy, China. She has published a numerious Vidio Tapes, feature articles, and books. Her recent famous book named What you Wish is What you Get was published by Songan Publishing Inc. in 2001 at Taipei, Taiwan. The next one of hers, E. Q. Unlimited , will be published by Franklin Publications at Taipei in the fall of 2002. She is an expert of E. Q. (Emotional Intelligence). Becky has been honored as an Assistant Fellow of the Culture Institution of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).
"I am delighted by this honor. Thank you for the appointment. I think this is the biggest title that I have ever held!" Becky sent an e-mail to Dr. Tony Lei, President of WBTI, on May 19, 2002.
"Besides what I'm already doing in my teaching goal, I'd like to continue to introduce and integrate the best of American culture and social into Chinese churches and families to help them in the assimilation process. People have to pursue, accept, and embrace all kinds of opportunities and challenges that lives have to offer. I encourage them to utilize their potential to the fullest extent. I believe awareness is a pre-requisite to a happy and successful life. I'll do my best to serve the Lord and follow His will. I'll also devote my time, talents, and resources to help others and make a difference in their lives," she spoke to the public.
"As an Assistant Fellow of the Culture Institution of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI), it's my precious opportunity to realize my potential of entrepreneuship to work with all these outstanding faculty members of WBTI under the encouragement and spiritual leadeship of Elaine Chao who has been honored as the Chairperson of this Institute," said Becky Ung.

WBTI President's 2003 New Year Message
January 1, 2003

We need to do our best to present ourselves to God as we've been approved. As a sincere American coolie (hardworker), I need to know God's Words so I would not be ashamed to correctly handle His Word of truth. By doing what is good, we may remind the people to be subject to officials and authorities. We need to remind people also that we are ready to do whatever is good through righteousness and obedience to God's Words. We need to unite all our friends and groups to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all our people. The significant thing we need to do this year is to unite and put all our wisdom and effort to the right direction of improving the quality of life for all our residents and visitors in Nevada.

Quatations of Inspiration sent to WBTI by Meiyang Chang and Lillian Tsai
By Meiyang Chang and Lillian Tsai

In case you need futher proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.
***On a Sears hairdryer: Do not use while sleeping. (and that's the only time I have to work on my hair.)
***On a bag of Fritos: ...You could be a winner! No purchase necessary.
***On packing for a Rowenta iron: "Do not iron clothes on body." (but wouldn't this save me more time?)
***On Nytol Sleep Aid: "Warning: May cause drownsiness." (and... I'm taking this because???)
***On most brands of Christmas lights: "For indoor or outdoor use only." (as opposed to ...what?)
***On a Japense food processor: "Not to be used for the other use." (now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)
***On an American Airlines packet of nuts: "Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts." (Step 3: maybe, uh...fly Delta?)
Now that you've smiled at least once, its your turn to spread the stupidity and send this to someone you want to bring a smile to (may even a chuckle)...in other words send it to everyone. We all need to smile every once in a while.
