何薇玲:消費性電子、3G是可預見機會 ***友善列印

謝宛蓉/台北報導儘管資訊科技業處於低毛利的成熟期,惠普董事長何薇玲指出,消費性電子、百元電腦、3G(網站、商品)商機是台灣產業下一步機會所在。同時惠普今年三大事業群也力求高度成長,尤其個人事業部門可望在硬體新技術帶動下挑戰兩成的成長。

惠普昨(十)日舉辦新春媒體聚會,配合「飆獵風」主軸,何薇玲身著緊身褲與長靴,出場時還牽著大型黃金獵犬,顯得帥氣十足。何薇玲表示,消費性電子產品當紅,產品的可攜性與內容傳遞將是軟硬體業者的新機會。同時,台灣在無線與有線網路環境的成熟,在2.5G到3G的轉換中具有利位置,政府應該大力加強對行動數位內容與服務的支持。另外,她也看好百元電腦到台灣研發與製造的整體商機。

由於惠普協助遠翔自由貿易港區的軟硬體建置,對此,何薇玲也特別感觸指出,台灣有條件發展,但是礙於兩岸通貨限制,可以說「只欠東風」。

洛伊克巴德 好個溫泉鄉
瑞士西南高山勝地 山區生活保持傳統 提供旅客特有感受

●瑞士西南方的洛伊克巴德(Leukerbad),位在海拔1400公尺左右的山區,是歐洲最著名的高山溫泉度假及療養中心,空氣好、環境及景致優雅,觀光業已發展數百年,難能可貴的是,山區生活的傳統,仍在村民間代代相傳,提供旅客特有的感受。

洛伊克巴德觀光局國際行銷人員大衛克斯坦斯(David Kestens)指出,來到洛伊克巴德,一定要放慢腳步,多吸幾口這裡清新無汙染的高山空氣,同時更別忘了泡一泡從地下湧出的溫泉。

大衛並不是瑞士人,他來自比利時,但是在洛伊克巴德住了五年後,已經愛上洛伊克巴德,也完全融入當地的生活文化,更把洛伊克巴德當成家鄉,現在正在附近以瑞士流行的Minergy(Minimal Energy的縮寫,最節省能源的意思)方式,為自己和家人蓋一座房子。

外地旅客,可以搭火車到洛伊克(Leuk),轉乘巴士約三十分鐘車程,便抵達洛伊克巴達,巴士一路上依循山路盤旋而上,每一個角度都可以構成一幅美麗的圖畫,外地來的旅客,興奮地拿著相機或錄影機猛拍。一到山上,下了巴士走在街上,又發現景致更美了,這是大自然美景和人類生活痕跡圓融結合的境界。

事實上,洛伊克巴德的景致並非是唯一的,在瑞士及歐洲其他的山城如策馬特、霞慕尼等,也有相比敵之處,不過,洛伊克巴德多了溫泉的資源,而且在這麼高的海拔上,更是難得,難怪大衛會愛上這個地方,同時肯定這裡是瑞士溫泉區中最好的一處。

在洛伊克巴德是不太可能迷路的,即使迷路,很快就可以找到去處,因為這個村子就這麼小,就算走錯路,也很快便回到正途,只是有一個問題,就是向行人問路,常常得不到答案,因為這是一個觀光客比居民多的地方,據統計,村中人口約一千五百人,而以目前的觀光平季來說,觀光客人數約六千人,到了七、八月旺季,可達九千人左右。

觀光業可以說已是村民唯一的行業了,大衛指出,這裡的人不是在旅館、餐廳工作,就是在溫泉池工作,再不然是開店的、開巴士的,怎麼樣也脫不了觀光業。

一般人說瑞士是很貴的度假地點,但大衛指出,以該村的收費水準來看,住宿費用大約從單人房的75瑞士法郎起到雙人房的225 瑞士法郎,價格並不高。 [2006-01-07]

美商在中國 影響力最大
調查顯示:歐日企業緊隨其後 南韓穩中有升 台港待努力

【中央社北京九日電】中國零點研究諮詢集團今天在上海公布一項有關跨國公司在中國影響力的調查,結果顯示,美國企業在中國的影響力全面領先,歐日企業緊隨其後,南韓企業的影響力穩中有升,台港企業尚未被中國民眾廣泛認可,而中國本土企業的影響力則呈滑落之勢。

中新社報導,這份「2005年中國最具影響跨國企業評選研究報告」指出,中國對外開放後第一個進入的外國消費品來自美國,目前美國文化對中國人生活的影響無所不在,其滲透力之強與其在全球範圍內所展現出來的雄厚經濟實力、強勢品牌形象及在中國多年的苦心經營密不可分。

以德國跨國企業為代表的歐洲跨國企業體現出的穩重嚴謹的工作風格以及務實進取的理念得到了中國民眾的認可和賞識。日本企業以其認真、細緻、執著的作風為他們的產品和品牌贏得好評,其汽車工業和電子工業的席捲全球讓中國民眾認識到日企的競爭力,日企在中國民眾心目中的得分已與歐洲企業十分接近。

而中國大陸跨國企業的影響力與2004年相比呈明顯下降,零點公司的這份報告認為,技術和管理是目前本土企業的兩大弱點。越來越多的中國民眾認識到,技術是本土企業與國外跨國企業存在的最大差距,而完善合理的管理機制是保證企業長遠發展的根基。 [2006-01-10]

SOUTHERN NEVADA SITE

VA awards contract for veterans hospital

The Department of Veterans Affairs has approved an architectural contract for a new veterans hospital in Southern Nevada, Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev, said Thursday.

Ensign issued a news release stating Veterans Affairs Secretary Jim Nicholson told him the contract of more than $20 million was awarded to two firms in a joint venture.

The companies include RTKL, an international firm based in Baltimore, Md., and JMA Architecture Studios of Las Vegas.

"This is an important step in an extremely important project, and I'm proud to be able to deliver the news to Nevada's veterans that their hospital is another step closer to reality today," Ensign said.

The VA had set aside $60 million to hire architects and design the $295 million veterans hospital, which will be located at Pecos Road and the Las Vegas Beltway in North Las Vegas.

Construction of the 700,000-square-foot hospital is scheduled to begin in August 2006 and the opening is expected sometime in 2009.

Congress is still working on legislation that would provide $199 million of the construction funding.

It's our pleasure to post a short essay from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren:

In 1931, historian and Pulitzer prize winner James Truslow Adams coined the phrase "The American Dream" in a treatise called The Epic of America. Adams described the dream this way: "It is not a dream of moter cars and high wages merely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position."*2
This familiar phrase has often been invoked by writers, philosophers, and politicians to explain their own convictions. It has become a prevailing justification for individual dreams and pursuits. "There are those who will reply that freedom of man and mind is nothing but a dream," said Archibald MacLeish. "They are right. It is. It is the American Dream."
Ray Kroc believed in the American Dream. While selling paper cupsto restaurants in 1920s, he worked his way up to becoming one of the company's top
salespeople. ....The "freedom of man and mind" is not a dream. It produce dreams. ......

David McClelland, the Harvard psychologist, has extensively studied high achievers. He has concluded that successful people possess one common characteristic: they fantasize and dream incessantly about how to achieve their goals. Taking that one step further, James Allen says, "Dreams are the seedlings of reality."
The American Dream is a seedling of reality waiting to be nurtured, fertilized, and harvested by those with the courage to pursue it.*3

"Nothing much happens without a dream. For something really great to happen, it takes a really great dream," said Robert Greenleaf.
