It Is Significant to Serve Our Community By Tiffany Chang Being dedicated to the 17th anniversary celebrating of Seniors United, Lillian and Julian Wallace wrote a feature article entitled We Proudly Present to You Two of the Dearest People in the World - Dr. and Mrs. Tony T. Lei. Lillian is President of Seniors United, while Julian is its CEO. The article was published by the famous Highlights Magazine on October, 1999. Lillian and Julian wrote that, "Let me clarify, Dr. Lei is not a medical physician. He is a noted professor and President of Washington Business and Technology Institute. He has a background of achievement as long as his arms. During the past years it has put efforts on academic research and social service. Due to its achievement, the Institute is advancing with good reputation both locally and internationally. Governor Kenny Guinn is Chairman of its Advisory Board; U. S. Senstor Harry Reid is Vice Chairman of the Board and several famous scholars as its Directors. The faculty members of the Institute excel in qualification and work performance." Lillian and Julian has recognized this individual by stating that, "Dr. Lei received M.B.A. and Ed. D. in Institutiional Management from Pepperdine University, Malibu, California. From 1985-1990, he was an Associate Professor of Management in the Graduate School of Business Administration of National Chunghsing University. He has been promoted as a Fellow of Management since February 21, 1993 at Pepperdine University. Since May 4, 1997, he has been appointed by Las Vegas City and Council as Member of Las Vegas Senior Citizens' Advisory Board. He has also been elected Director of South Shores Community Association with concrete contributions to the community for more than six years." "Dr. Lei is both excellent in teaching and research with good ability and skill in organization and leadership," pointed out the couple with great accomplishment in political and social services. "Julian and I know the length that Leis go for us. Because of these two terrific, caring people, we were honored by being named as Fellows of the Cultural Institution of WBTI." "The love and friendship that Dr. and Mrs. Tony Lei extend to us is both poignant and meaningful because they are Asian by birth but American by adoption," said Lillian and Julian. "They have also adopted us as their parents because they are so imbused with love and respect for the elderly." "We love you truly and are looking forward to years and years of being together," they stated. "As an outstanding colleague of Pepperdine University and a distinguished alumnus of Tunghai University, Dr. Lei points out: 'Knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service. We should continue to wok for the prosperity of our society more diligently.'" Because of his sincere and effective work performance in community service beside his academic endeavor, Dr. Lei has received many important awards from U.S. Senator, Las Vegas City Mayor, Clark County Chairman, among others. It is significant that Dr. Kenny Guinn wrote Dr. Lei: "It is only with the dedication and commitment of good people like youself that I will achieve my goal of becoming Governor of this great state. Dema and I can't thank you enough for your assistance and your positive activities in the community." | | |
