Community Service Brings with Peace and Love By Tifanny Chang Dr. Tony T. Lei, President of Washington Business Technology Institute, earned M.B.A. and Ed.D. in Institutional Management from Pepperdine University. During the past five years, besides his professional work, Dr. Lei has contributed significant achievement for cultural exchanges and community services. He has been twice consecutively elected the Director of South Shores Community Association with concrete contribution to the benefits of the residents and homeowners of the community. He has achieved of good work performance for this community on: (1)Safety, traffic signals, transportation, sanitation, mail service, disposal services, and environment protection. (2)Good property management and landscape maintenance. (3)Motivation of good work performance between our Association and the Management Company. As a result of the dedicated efforts of the Directors of Board working to improve the benefits of the community and the property value of homeowners, this Association was recently honored as the Association of the Year by CAI. Dr. Tony Lei has been appointed Member of Senior Citizens' Advisory Board in the May 4, 1997. With his sincere and diligent work for the Board, he has been respected as an effective and loyal Advisor and has been elected Secretary of the Board since February 12, 1998. Dr. Lei is developing good ideas to put effort and wisdom for improving the quality of life of our Las Vegas Seniors. On September 17, 1998, City of Las Vegas and Thai Cultural Arts Association of Las Vegas presented the Thai Performance Arts__Appreciation Day 1998. In the event, Dr. Tony Lei received an Award for being a Supporter of the Thai and Asian Cultures with 11 other honorees: Dr. Raj Chanderraj, Mr. James Chen, Ms. Dolly de Leon, Mr Steven Kwon, Benson Lee, Esq., Mr. Charlie Lee, Dr. R. D. Prabhu, Dr. J.A. Villaflor, Mr. Buck Wong, Dr. Roddy Wong, and Mr. Tonie Sison. The highlight of this event was certificates of award presented by U.S. Senator Harry Reid to the Thai Cultural Arts Association of LasVegas and Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). On behalf of WBTI, Dr. Lei received the Award through Dr. Roger Owen. The Award honored WBTI's contribution to cultural and social services for the community of Nevada. On June 21, 1998, Dr. Lei received the All American Humor Award. He was one of the distinguished award honorees because of his outstanding ability to characterize pride, dignity, and respect for fatherhood. He was honored also because of his achievement in successful academic endeavor. He is proficient in teaching and research with an excellent aptitude in organization skills and leadership. He points out that technology is one of the most important revolution to hit education, and education is key to economic development. As a person on the list of Honorary Alumni of Pepperdine University, and on this coming of the information era, Dr. Lei affirms that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service. By the invitation of the publisher of the famous Chiu Ko Publishing Co., Ltd., he is completing a book named Management and Leading Skills. |
