District Judge Valorie Vega enjoys the honor to be a Fellow of WBTI By Tiffany ChangThis is to complete the feature article entitled "WBTI Fellow Valorie Vega wins election and keeps the title of District Judge" of last week. The columnist received an artistic photo of Judge Vega at the large size sent by her. It is our pleasure to publish the photo also together with this continuity. District Judge Vega was honored with the 1992 "Women of Achievement Award" from the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and recognized by the Latin Chamber of Commerce as the "Hispanic of the Year" in 1995. She is a holder of Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Southern California's Law Center. She received Bachelor of Arts degree from CSU Northridge. She got a graduate studies certificate in Interpretation/Translation from UC Santa Barbara. On May 3, 2000, Judge Valorie J. Vega was appointed by WBTI Fellow of PAI. Judge Vega was very happy that she and her husband were invited by Dr. and Mrs. Tony Lei for a dinner party at the Center Stage Restaurant of Plaza Hotel in celebration of her victory on election as a District Judge (5/15) and appointment as a Fellow of WBTI (5/03) on June 1, 2000. The Faculty of WBTI joined Pre-sident Dr. Lei to welcome her being one of their fellows at PAI. "We are convinced that District Judge Valorie Vega is good equipped to be a Fellow of this Institute with her outstanding professional expertise and practical public administration achieved experience as one more faculty member insupporting Director Dr. William Thompson to lead PAI into the next millennium with academic excellence and administrative practicality," said Dr. Tony Lei, President of WBTI. "Thank you very much for showing your faith in me as evidenced by your nomination. It is indeed an honor for me to be nominated by you and to become a Fellow of Public Administration (Institute) Institution of the Washington Business and Technology Institute. This position will undoubtedly provide me with new avenues for exploring improvements in public services to which I am most dedicated. I look forward to working together with you in these endeavors. Warm personal regards to you and your lovely wife," wrote the District Judge Valorie Vega to WBTI President Dr. Tony Lei from her Office of the Eighth Judicial District Court at the Clark County Courthouse on May 22, 2000. During the celebration dinner in the evening of June 1 at the Center Stage, Judge Vega was noble and bright. She was fill-ed with happiness and desire to excel. She enjoyed to have the opportunity in joining the efforts both of academic research and judicial practice to improve the quality of life for all our Nevadans. |
