Seniors United Held a Happy Holiday Event By Taffany Chang
The Seniors United (SU) had a Christmas and Chanukah celebrating party on December 8, 1999 at the West Flamingo Senior Center, Las Vegas. The presented Advisory Board members of SU were: Dr. Tony Lei, Judy Lei, Denis Brodsky, and Jackie Seip. The attended Executive Board members were: Paul Burr, Maria Manning, William Lackey, Mae Kipnis, Ellen Freas, Richard Denison, and Henry Kipnis.
There were many important guests: Nancy Saitta, Barbara Cegavske, Mark Manendo, Genie Ohrenschall, Michelle Fitzpatrick, Jessie Walsh, Bobby G. Gronauer, Laura Fitzpatrick, Judy Vandever, Sheri Vogel, Natalie Tyrrell, Janice Miller (for U.S. Senator Harry Reid), Judith Ray (for U.S.Congressman Jim Gibbons), Denis Brodsky (for Clark County Vice-Chair Erin Kenny), Sonya Douglass (for Las Vegas Councilwoman Lynette McDonald), U.S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkely's mother, George Gilbert and his mother, Nadia Contreras, Y. W. Chiao, Jackson Chao, Alan Poon, among others. Because of the traffic reason, the traditional Thai dances brought to the party by the President of TCAALV were a little late. All the people were very excited and interesting to watch the three special dances with beautiful costumes. Dr. Lei thanked the contribution of TCAALV to offer such an enjoyable entertainment for our seniors. The forum and party were held by President and CEO of SU, Lillian and Julian Wallace. Paul Burr and Ellen Freas were the MC.
Vice-Chair and Commissioner of Clark County Erin Kenny owns a great deal of good personal traits in political and business world: Appearance, popularlity, sociability, originality, judgement, aggresiveness, desire to excel, humour, cooperativeness, liveliness, athletic ability, and height. She is now working for her Juris Doctor (J. D.) degree at UNLV. She brought the Highlight to the nationwide Event of Fil-Am Chamber of Commerce (FACC) on December 5, 1999 at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. She annouced that a proclamation of Clark County was giving to Dr. Tony T. Lei, Ed. D. of Pepperdine Univewrsity, by its Board of Commissioners. She stated that the Board of County Commissioners honors and recognizes an distinguished scholar, Dr. Tony Lei for his outstanding performance in academic achievevement and social service. Following by nice dinner, induction, and awards, the Event was continued by a lot of arts performances and the night social dance. Presenters of the Event were full the hall with high rank governmental officials, organizational leaders, and business executives both from local and out of the state.
