By Tiffany Chang
On November 28, Dr. Tony Lei was pleased to receive a nice Christmas card from Mrs. Young, who is the wife of former President of Pepperdine University, Dr. M. Norvel Young. Dr. Lei was used to be hosted by the couple during his MBA and EdD scholarship programs in Pepperdine College and Pepperdine University. Dr. Young invited him to have a reunion dinner party offerring by a successful entrepreneur alumnus in Taipei when Dr. Lei was a professor at the Graduate School of Business Administration of National Chunghsing University. Dr. Young wished that the Chapter of Pepperdine University Association of the Republic of China would be most appropriated under the leadership of Dr. Lei.
Mrs. Young quoted from Henry Longfellow that:
"I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat,
Of 'Peace on earth, good will to men!'
"This year, with the serious illness of my daughter, Marilyn Stewart, and my need to assist her family, we have decided to not have our annual holiday reception," said Mrs. Young. Dr. Lei will pray sincerely for Marilyn's healing and for strength for her family.
In her card, Mrs. Young put the message from the Psalm that, "Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thankgiving and extol him with music and song." (Psalm 95:1-2)
In the colorful flier made by him on the web of Washington Business and Technology Institute at http://communitylink.reviewjournal.com/lvrj/wbti "Dr. M. Norvel Young was former president of Pepperdine University. Early in the morning on Wednesday, November 7, 2001, Titus is excited also that WBTI is going to honor her in the Event and Show of Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum next Spring. "Though I'll not be able to participate the Seasonal Party before the end of this December as I'll be out of town at that time, it's my pleasure to present myself at the Event and it's my appreciation to be honored in the Forum next Spring," Titus told Dr. Tony Lei, President of WBTI during his congratulating call. The Event and Party at the Showroom of the Venetian in Las Vegas will be produced by 1NetBroadcast Inc. as a TV show. It will reach 100 million families all around the world.
The maturity of citizens society is the fundamental guarantee for the normal processing of a democratic community. In a citizens society, it depends highly on the team of public intellectuals to integrate people's opinions, to analyze rationally, and to point out wise persperctives and notice. A public intellectual plays an important and significant responsibility of mission to evaluate public activities, to reflect people's opinion, to lead citizens, and to predict crisis. Public opinion is therefore made through the effort of the public intellectuals by their wise investigation to the people's mind and willingness, and by their right understanding and analysis toward the facts. U.S. Americans W. Lippman and J. Raston, German E. Noalle-Neumann are ideal representatives of such kind of persons as of the public intellectual. As community service is important to our people and society, we wish individuals as our public intellectual may innovate more projects, events, and volunteers to better the quality of life of all our Nevadans through community paricipation.
"With her outstanding professional expertise and practical public administration experience, outspoken Senator Titus is more than a public intellectual for our community service. She is both an achieved Statewoman and Scholar," says Dr. Tony Lei.

An E-mail to U. S. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao

Dear Mr. Siff, How are you? Would you please have the following message to our U. S. Secretary of Labor Elaine? Thank you.

****** Dear Elaine, We're missing you since last time we read your letter to us. How are you? Tony's editorial, entitled "Dedicate Ourselves to the Participation of the America's Main Stream Society," was published by the Central Daily News--International Edition. It's on how important it is to unite the Chinese Americans for America as one nation under God through community service by professionals of each and every field of expertise. U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao was pointed out as one of the greatest Chinese Americans whom should be honored and supported by all the Chinese people around the world.
In order to pay a special tribute to you, we're going to hold an event and show party at the Showroom of the Venetian in Las Vegas. About 1,250 people will participate at the party. Professional leaders of many countries will present at the Event. The Event is: Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum. The function is: A Special Tribute to U. S. Secretary of Labor Honorable Elaine Chao. 1NetBroadcast Inc. will take charge of it and produce the whole program as the TV which will reach 100 million families all around the World. Steve told us that you will be here after the coming January. We're planning it for the next Spring. We've respected your father as a successful immigrant for a long time. Dr. Toni Ni introduced your father as the Board Chairman of the Alumni Association of University of Communication to us again a few days ago when he was in Las Vegas from Shanghai. We're pleased to say hello here to him before Dr. Ni sending your father's E-mail address to us.
Just think about how your friends are missing you since our lunch as an reunion with you this Summer at the Mirage in Las Vegas, we'd like to share with all of them any of your courtesy in response to this message from you. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Judy & Tony
