120205-1187 "Business & Administration" (PPAA 19), ***** Friday, 10:37 a. m., December 2, 2005 #Second printing of the Second Edition on January 25, 2005 *****To build a world in the knowledge of business and economics By Cheryl Moss and Tiffany Chang*1 Eric Chen, Esq., is also a many years experienced Taiwanese merchant in China. His idea is to inspire some people to build a world in the knowledge of business and economics for China like what Dr. Charles H. C. Kao did for Taiwan. Dr. Charles Kao (崅婓嬒 愭惗 Founder, Global Views Monthly) is former Professor & Chairman and now Honorary Professor of University of Wisconsin. "I couldn't catch up Dr. Tony Lei's dinner party at his home in Jing Ning Mansion, but I'll have coffee hour with him and other professors eventually in the party," said Dr. Kao in Taipei early in the morning one day many years ago. Dr. Tony T. Lei taught six years the main course, "Business Management", at the Department of Business Administration, National Chengchi University. He taught adjunctly "Management Behavior" in the same period of time at the Department of Commerce, National Taiwan University. The modern and educational theories and practices of "Scientific Management", "Change", and "Human Needs V Administration" were first time introduced to Taiwan by Dr. Tony T. Lei from the United States of America in 1969-1975. Inspired by Dr. Tony T. Lei's many publications in business management demonstrated on the Wine Closet in the parlor, Dr. Charles Kao applaused, "Do it brightly and we may make the same excellency also. I'm interested in following Tony's creativeness to pioneer even a bigger economic and business world here soon after I come back from United States." *2 Within ten years, he established the Empire of "Tien Shia" ["The World" (The Lord) in Chinese] {Global Views Monthly} in Taiwan! His popularity and influence to the people in Taiwan have been offered him accomplishment much more than just his splendid academic title. It is our pleasure to post "KAOS announce major gift to UW-River Falls," which was a news delivered by University of Wisconsin -River Falls: Dr. Charles H.C. Kao and Mrs. Anne Kao have made a leadership pledge of $50,000 over the next five years to be used toward the accomplishment of the University's "Reach for the Future" major gifts campaign. In announcing their gift, Dr. Kao indicated it was their wish to support three important areas of the University: faculty development, Academic Excellence Higher Education Education Scholarships, and exchange programs with Greater China. Dr. and Mrs. Kao have been generous supporters of international programs for many years. Most recently, they were instrumental in the establishment of the Center for Pacific Rim Studies. The Center is responsible for providing opportunities for visiting professors and artists from Asia to visit the UW-River Falls campus and promoting educational exchanges between the two cultures. A portion of their gift will be used to underwrite faculty development opportunities and scholarships in the College of Arts &Sciences. Elected as the Distinguished Professor of the Year in 1974, Dr. Kao was the chair of the department of economics from 1971-80. Since then he has devoted part of his time in Greater China (China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and among others) involved in research, lecturing, writing, and publishing. Known as a "leading thinker" in Greater China, Dr. Kao has written more than 15 books in Chinese in his field of economic policy and social thought. Two of his books were given the national prize in Taiwan. In addition to his academic activity, he has also been serving as an economic advisor to the central government there. Mrs. Kao had a successful 25-year career with 3M Company and is currently working for IBM in Beijing as a computer systems consultant. She is very interested in international programs and cultural exchange in the arts.*3 Dr. Tony T. Lei has assisted transferring the education of BBA and MBA in the United States of America to Taiwan. The intellectuals who joined the team and him were many professors, scholars, administrators, publishers, and among others. All of them together, for many years, helped bring the Miracle of Economy of Taiwan realized. "Together with the successful experience of economic deveopment in Taiwan, now is the time for China to advance it even better!" said Eric Chen, Esq. -------------------------------------------- References *1. A theme of the event and dinner party to pay a special tribute to the Supreme Court Justice Nancy Becker ---Growing Value of the Fellowship of Public Administration Institution of WBTI (Nancy Becker is now the Chief Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court) By Tiffany Chang Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) was founded in January 8, 1996. We have produced distinguished scholars, successful entrepreneurs, and outstanding community leaders. For the time being, our vision of 2004 is to continue to put more wisdom and effort in encourageing those people who are outstanding in public administration, academic research, and community service. WBTI has established the Public Administration Institution (PAI) in order to meet the increasng investigation requirements of current public managers and special research needs of professional public administrators. It seeks to provide an awareness and understanding of the complex administrative and oganizational contexts within which the administrators of public service make and implement decisions; and to provide general technical competence in using the tools of public administration and information management.*1 Dr. William N. Thompson was appointed by WBTI as Fellow and Director of its Public Administration Institution (PAI) on January 18, 2000. "It has been an honorable gratifying to invite a famous professor of Dr. Bill Thompson's expertise, integrity, and good personal traits with highly international perspective to this Institute," Said President Dr. Tony Lei of WBTI on January 21, 2000. "Throughout Dr. Thompson's distinguished career and publication, he has been earned a good reputation as a conscientious and dedicated professional." On March 3, 2000, Dr. Roy J. Adamson was appointed Fellow of PAI. "It's our gratifying honor to have Dr. Adamson, a famous Emeritus Professor from Pepperdine University to join us as one of our faculty member. With its high-speed capability, Fiber Optics can convey mass quantity of images and voice information. It is because that the broadband technology such as Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) has been more and more developed. Moreover, because of the popular building of radio communication networks, wireless techniques may access important information from the web and condense it to be appeared on the small web connecting machines such as a hand-held screen. The open free software LINUX operating system can even connect various stations very easilly. All these advancement in science and technology, should be used to inspire the promotion of the quality of our daily life. Nancy Jiang (江 南) ---a future Chinese American brilliant artist 绘画的灵气和才能 By Bobby Gronauer, Nancy Jiang (江 南), and Jennifer KungA compliment or encouragement is verbal sunshine. We are pleased to quote the following three short but meaningful ones: ***** No matter how busy you are, you must take time to make other person feel important. ---Mary Kay Ash ***** There is no more noble occupation in the world than to assit another human being---to help someone succeed. ---Alan Loy McGinnis ***** There are two things people want more than sex and money ...recognition and praise. ---Mary Kay Ash Only God may create an indivivual with both of natual beauty and brilliant talent. I (Bobby Gronauer) may not understand Chinese language, but I could enjoy Nancy's talent in paintings. How wonderful! To encourage and promote community service and humane spirit have been two of the missions of Washington Business and technology Institute (WBTI) since its establishment in January 8, 1996. As a faculty member of this Institute, it is my great pleasure to offer my effort for the implementation of its missions in the adjunct level. The following article in Chinese is written by Miss Nancy Nan Jiang We are pleased to learn that Nancy has such a brilliant understanding and perspective on painting and art.
