Nevada Attorney General Brian Sandoval is now one of the U. S. District Court judges. The United States Senate voted unanimously on his confirmation. Through the recommendation of U. S. BRIAN SANDOVAL [now U. S. District Court Judge (Editor's note on 070207)] was sworn in as Nevada's Attorney General on January 6, 2003. Sandoval graduated from the University of Nevada and The Ohio State University College of Law.*3

As Attorney General, Sandoval is committed to fighting crime, protecting seniors and children from fraud and abuse and preserving integrity in government.

As the state's chief law enforcement officer, Sandoval will lead a staff of 350, including 140 lawyers, and administer a budget of $42 million. Among many other responsibilities, the Nevada Attorney General's office prosecutes consumer, insurance and worker's compensation fraud cases, provides legal counsel to all the Nevada state agencies and is responsible for almost all state prison litigation matters. It was already popular for the past years to hold dinner parties to pay special tribute to elected offficials, but most of them were civil administratives or civic representatives. Dr. Tony Lei initiated to hold event and dinner party to pay a spcial tribute to the judicial professionals through elections in Nevada. Justice Nancy Becker was the first one selected by him to pay a tribute. A successful event and dinner party was held for her on May 23, 2001 at Harbor Palace Restaurant in Las Vegas. It was chaired by Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI); Theresa Malone, [***former (modified on 070207)] Member of Nevada State Board of Education; Dr. R. D. Judge Michelle Leavitt deserves special recognition of her expertise, integrity, conscientious and dedicated professionalism. She has been a bright Associate Fellow of PAI since 2000. "Thanks to Dr. Tony Lei, Dr. R. D. Prabhu, and Attorney David Amesbury to chair this Event and Party. Together with knowledge as the power of rightiousness, we may build a community where this and future generations will have more opportunities and advantages to live a prosperous and healthy life," said Judge Michelle Leavitt at the Dinner Party.*13

We are deeply regret and sorry that Judge Michelle Leavitt's father passed away weeks ago on a Friday. Myron Leavitt, 73, a Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court, who had a long political career in Nevada. He was born in Las Vegas. Myron was a football and track athlete at the University of Nevada at Reno, where he earned a journalism degree. He worked a year as sports editor of the Las Vegas Review-Journal before studying law at the University of Utah.*14

Myron had private law practice for 28 years. He served as a Councilman of Las Vegas, a Commissioner Clark County and a Justice of the Peace before winning election as Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1979 to 1983.

Leavitt served as a Clark County District Court Judge for 15 years before winning a Supreme Court position as one of its Justice in 1998.*15 The late Myron Leavitt is honored as a Memorial Fellow of the Public Administration Institution (PAI) of Washingoton Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) on February 4, 2004.

"I can't help thinking about Justice Myron Leavitt, our long time Asian American friend of Nevada, who died so unexpectedly. This brings to my mind the urgency of our times in Las Vegas. We note the vanishing of many heroes that built the world of Nevada after 1963. We recognize that the best way to honor those who have gone before us is to rise up and find the greatness in our own lives, the strength of charater, the vision and courage, the determination and selflessness to address the challenges that still lay before us," says Dr. Tony Lei, President of WBTI, for the Event and Dinner Party held by the Asian American Community of Nevada on February 4, 2004 in Las Vegas.

Asian American Community has won recognition for contribution to Nevada by the American Mainstream. 贛省的山水自古即吸引無數文人雅士，不論是唐代的白居易或20世紀來自美國的賽珍珠，他們的文學創作都和江西的「文學現場」存在直接與間接的關係……

今年9月第三次赴中國旅遊，雖然此前曾點線式走訪北京、西安、上海、三?{、黃山及絲路，但和一般華人觀光客相比，資歷尚淺。大陸山河秀麗，名勝古蹟不勝枚舉，可供選擇多，前往江西純粹因想先看文化古蹟，再以自然風景壓軸。

滕王閣

這座號稱江南三大名樓之一的歷史名閣，初建於西元653年（唐永徽四年），千餘年來屢遭火劫和兵災 ，已經重修了28次。第29次始於1983 年，五年後竣工，它位在原址附近的贛江和撫江交會處，高達54.5公尺，是仿宋代唐造型的建築，氣勢宏偉，四周的園林亭榭之間矗立一座王勃的塑像。

八大山人紀念館

八大山人本名朱耷，江西南昌人，為明朝宗室，因國破家亡，遁隱空門，名列清初明末的四大畫僧。他的山水花鳥顯得蒼涼寂寞，不循傳統的國畫路子，表現個人強烈的情緒變化，對後世畫壇影響深遠。令人失望的是，參觀八大山人紀念館時，所見他的原作極少，大多為後人的補白或模擬之作。走出館外在庭院中尋到他的墳墓，深深一拜。

白鷺洲書院

白鷺洲書院初建於宋淳佑元（1214）年，書院名取自李白遊鳳凰台的詩句：「三山半落青天外，?凰蟹职樦蕖！顾混都彩袞|面的贛江之中，當年創辦書院的南宋學者江萬里看見洲上「茂林修竹，青翠雅靜」適宜作讀書雅集之所，至今依然景色如畫，還有明清兩代遺留下來的建築，如：雲章閣（藏書樓）及風月樓（文士吟風弄月之所在）。書院所造就的人才當中，以文天祥最著名。

石鐘山

石鐘山矗立於長江和鄱陽湖交會處的東南岸，全部面積只有九萬平方公尺， 石鐘山不僅是一座文化名山，而且地勢險要，自古為兵家必爭之地，歷史上著名的戰役有：大禹征三苗、周瑜練兵於鄱陽湖，經此進軍赤壁而大破曹兵，元末朱元璋堅守石鐘山和陳友諒在附近交戰終而一統天下，清代太平天國的軍隊駐守此山達五年之久，曾數次大敗湘軍水師，1913年國民革命軍李烈鈞在石鐘山?l動討伐袁世凱的第二次革命，史稱湖口起義。

在中國文學史上，以此山斐然成章的有「石鐘山記」，出自蘇東坡之手，乍看是遊記，但作者的用意不在記述風景，而是考辨石鐘山因「聲」或因「形」命名的由來，蘇軾主張認識事物應作番實地考察，不可只憑主觀臆斷。他為了證明自己的理論，特別為長子送行時，父子二人月夜泛舟，在絕壁之下做了一番查證。

婺源

O南宋著名理學家朱熹的故鄉，位於安徽、浙江和江西的交會處。朱熹寫過「半畝方塘一鑿開，天光雲影共徘徊」的詩句來讚美婺源的風景，附近有李坑、思溪、彩虹橋等古村落，保存完好，多徽派建築，一片片白牆黛瓦鉗鑲在青山綠水之間，不負中國「最美麗的鄉村」稱號。婺源地形起伏，空氣潮濕，適種茶，原屬徽州，是徽州茶幫的原鄉，據考證白居易琵琶行中「商人重利輕別離，前月浮梁買茶去」，當年運銷浮梁的茶葉，即出自婺源。

漢陽峰海拔1473公尺，是廬山的最高點，相傳上古堯時洪水滔天，廬山地區汪洋一片，唯有漢陽峰露出水面。大禹登至該峰的一塊平臺，觀察水勢，這塊平臺因此命名禹王崖，日後司馬遷又登此崖，他在史記河渠書中記載：「余南登廬山，觀禹疏九江…」做為撰史的依據。兩千年後雖然物換星移，但在廬山遙望漢陽峰時，仍可想像兩位先賢登臨禹王崖時所懷抱的敬業精神和使命感。

司馬遷為了撰史而登廬山，歷史上也不乏騷人墨客被廬山的「雲水泉石」所傾倒。唐朝的白居易在廬山建置草堂，寫下散文名篇「廬山草堂記」。他在元和11年秋過廬山，自抒「太原人白樂天見而愛之，若遠行客過故鄉，戀戀不能去，因而面峰腋寺，作為草堂」。兩年後他被朝廷派往忠州擔任刺史，又寫下別「草堂三絕句」：山色泉聲莫惆悵，三年官滿卻歸來。四年之後他改任杭州刺史，途中路過江州，特別到廬山草堂住了一晚，半甲子之後，白居易寓寄洛陽，雖然冠蓋滿京華，仍舊寫了一首懷念廬山草?玫脑姟?

白鹿洞書院

下了廬山，來到五老峰南麓的白鹿洞書院，早在唐朝貞元年間，洛陽來的李渤兄弟在此隱讀。他們養了一隻白鹿，時人稱為白鹿洞，宋初命名白鹿洞書院，後來朱熹在此講學，因此名噪天下，據說全盛時期屋舍達三百餘間。

院內保存了宋、明、清三朝一百五十餘塊石碑，不少名人手跡。導遊解釋，因為院址位於山野之間，古木參天，所以能免去文革時紅衛兵的破壞。至今白鹿洞書院的管理人員依舊在庭院內飼養一對白鹿，想要走近觀賞的必須繳付三元人民幣。

尾聲

兩周的贛文化之旅還包括江南第一奇峰及道教發源地「三清山」、龍虎山、仙水岩的竹筏漂流，山秀水清，未見工業污染的痕跡，令人流連忘返。是那一位先賢說過「情由景出，神自境來」？贛省的山水自古即吸引了無數文人雅士，不論是唐代的白居易或20世紀來自美國的賽珍珠，他們的文學創作都和江西的「文學現場」存在直接與間接的關係，此行每到一地就把相關的詩文和典故作番溫習，甚至溫故而知新，其中樂趣不止於遊山玩水，好似通體沐浴文化泉水，那份感覺非筆墨能盡。(石麗東)

《旅遊》青藏列車 穿越人間天堂

「那是一條神奇的天路，帶我們走進人間天堂」，這首曲子把人們對青藏高原的嚮往描繪得淋漓盡致。乘坐穿越世界屋脊的青藏鐵路火車，旅客不僅能飽覽獨一無二的青藏高原自然風光，還能品味充滿濃郁宗教氣息的藏民族文化。

塔爾寺 古老閃金光

旅客到了青海省會西寧，塔爾寺是一定要去的。位於西寧市區湟中縣蓮花山坳中的塔爾寺，是格魯派創始人宗喀巴大師的誕生地，是西北地區喇嘛教活動的中心。寺中心主建築大小金瓦殿綠牆金瓦、燦爛輝煌，與其他建築構成一組漢藏藝術相結合、獨具風格的古建築群。

青海湖 候鳥群壯觀

從西寧出發到位於青藏高原東北部的青海湖，約需一天車程，可以飽覽中國最大鹹水湖的美麗風光。青海湖海拔3260公尺，碧波萬頃，湖畔是「羊羔花盛開」的草原。每年4月至7月，湖中鳥島匯集著數十萬棕頭鷗、斑頭雁和海鷗等候鳥，或翱翔於藍天之間，或嬉戲於碧波之中，鳥聲或急或徐，蔚為壯觀。

察爾汗鹽湖 百變結晶鹽

從青海湖行經800公里到達格爾木，也是青藏鐵路二期工程的起點。這裏有大陸最大的鹽湖——察爾汗鹽湖。湖中色彩斑斕的結晶鹽似?汉鳌毸⒒ǘ洹⑾笱馈毷龋}湖周圍荒漠無邊，風景奇特。風和日麗時，浩瀚的湖面如同巨大的寶鏡，放射出銀色或湛藍色的光芒，有時還會出現變幻莫測的「海市蜃樓」。

崑崙山口 冰雪連天邊

沿青藏公路南行，周邊是一望無際的茫茫戈壁沙漠，崑崙雪山連綿不斷，與登山者的樂園玉珠峰遙相呼應。在海拔4767公尺的崑崙山口，五彩經幡環繞著索南達傑紀念碑。索南達傑在可可西里與盜獵藏羚羊的犯罪分子的槍戰中犧牲，石碑記載著這位環保英雄的生平。在山口眺望，莽莽崑崙東西綿延，冰雪千里，彷彿玉龍橫臥。

唐古拉山 踏上最高點

「到了崑崙山，兩眼淚不乾；到了唐古拉，伸手把天抓。」有俗諺如此形容青藏線惡劣的自然環境。從崑崙山到唐古拉山，沿線平均海拔在4500公尺以上。這裏高寒缺氧，但景色動人心魄。高原天空瞬息萬變，時而碧空如洗，時而烏雲密布，可謂「六月飛雪、一天四季」。穿行於可可西里無人區，你可以看到成群的藏羚羊自由地奔跑，還能看到百餘輛進藏車隊向拉薩運送物資。

發源於唐古拉山格拉丹東的長江源頭自然景觀十分奇特，這裏有冰筍、冰橋、冰鬥、冰湖、冰舌等冰川地貌，山上銀妝素裹，分外妖嬈。在海拔5231公尺的青藏線最高點唐古拉山埡口，壯志淩雲的感覺油然而生，環顧西周盡是白雪皚皚的巍峨群峰。

羌塘草原 野生動物多

火車翻越唐古… …

古拉山口後，映入眼簾的將是廣闊無垠的藏北羌塘草原。這裏有鳥類的王國——申扎和野生動物的樂園，可以看到藏野驢、野旄牛、野馬等。
納木錯是世界上海拔最高的鹹水湖，海拔4718公尺，是西藏三大「神湖」之首。湖面清澈，湖水呈深藍色。每當藏曆羊年，會有數以萬計的信徒來此朝聖，朝聖者五體投地、匍匐前行的身影，成為一幕獨特的風景。

布達拉宮 蘊藏文物豐

拉薩的布達拉宮是世界上海拔最高的宮殿，始建於西元7世紀四○年代松蕃王朝松贊幹部時期，是一座融和宮殿、城堡和寺院於一體的古建築群，是達賴的駐錫地，極高的歷史、藝術價值聞名於世。宮內收藏了大量珍貴文物和壁畫。站在紅山腳下，可看到布達拉宮的整體布局，分別是「雪」、白宮和紅宮，體現了藏傳佛教中「慾界」、「色界」、「無色界」的三界說。

大昭寺也是一定要去的，這裡是藏民的信仰中心，裡面供奉著唐朝文成公主攜入藏的釋迦牟尼12歲等身佛像，也是藏傳佛教三大寺之一。大昭寺外的八廓街是西藏最佳購物點，如藏藥、藏族飾品、唐卡和佛教用品，但一定要殺價。

預防高原病 行前勤鍛鍊

青藏列車供氧方式分彌散式供氧和分布式供氧兩種。但因為青藏列車仍會在海拔4500公尺以上的途中上下車，所謂彌散式供氧（將氧氣供應到空調系統）的功能不大；分布式供氧為每位旅客座位（或鋪位）下的分布式供氧裝置，可即時防治旅客出現的高原反應，若旅客出現不適，可以向列車員索取吸氧管，將管子插入孔中就可吸氧，不會發生任何缺氧問題。

急性高原反應主要是頭痛、頭暈、食慾減退、心悸、心慌、氣急、全身乏力、噁心嘔吐等缺氧性症狀；若進一步到急性高原肺水腫則會有咳嗽、胸悶、吐粉紅色泡沫痰等臨床表現，不可輕忽。

若本身有心血管毛病的旅客，經醫生檢查後可允許進藏，在進藏前幾個月，就應開始加強身體鍛鍊，以逐漸提高身體對缺氧的耐受力。但在進藏的前幾天，則必須要好好休息，不要做劇烈運動。

值得注意的是，最好不要吸菸、喝酒，以免加重高原反應。旅途中一旦出現身體不適，首先要休息、吸氧。如不見好轉，必須立即就近到拉薩大醫院進行治療。

車票難搶 搭一段算一段

青藏鐵路旅遊引發消費市場狂熱，旅行業卯足勁搶火車票，然而車票供不應求，青藏鐵路旅遊團票源不足，消費者購買此項產品應注意成行可能性。

旅行業者指出，青藏鐵路通車後熱不可擋，從西寧往拉薩810元人民幣的軟臥票，現核定票價已達1266元，極難取得，據說想買要另付手續費人民幣1800元。

旅行業界變通的做法是將旅行團帶到格爾木過夜，早上從格爾木上車前去拉薩。格爾木到拉薩車程一整天，不需要過夜，買較少人搶的硬座票即可。或者將遊程反向操作，由拉薩搭火車回西寧，也有退而求其次，僅搭一段那曲到格爾木的高原火車。業者表示，真正的旅遊列車明年才推出，目前談不上舒適度。

青藏鐵路開通後，遊客大增，首要景點布達拉宮每天限量參觀，又形成布達拉宮入場券搶手，一張人民幣100元的黃牛票價已漲到300元。

明州王文照 商週評為新星

【本報記者高從霖明尼蘇達州報導】華裔律師王文照被雙城商業週刊評選為第九屆具有潛力、值得注目的25位商業婦女新星之一，7月27日在商業週刊的午餐會議上接受表揚。

王文照畢業於中國南京大學英語文學系，出國前在外交部服務，1996年擔任中國國家主席江澤民訪問非洲6個國家時的新聞官，1997年到美國約翰霍普金斯大學攻讀國際公共政策碩士學位，之後前往中國常駐聯合國代表團工作，兩年後辭職，到明尼蘇達大學進修，2003年獲得法學博士學位。

她說，在外交部服務時，有許多次隨同領導人參與國際會議的機會，累積的10多年工作經驗，讓她和美國傳統印象的律師不一樣，加入律師事務所後，她很快的就接受案件處理，並擁有自己的客戶，為公司開發了與中國商務關係的一個新的領域。

根據雙城商業週刊的介紹，王文照13年的外交服務經驗，讓她對中美兩國社會、政治和法律系統有深入的了解，她也熟悉兩國政策制定和決策的過程。

王文照表示，她喜歡接受挑戰，為了有更大的平台，可以充分發揮過往的經驗。

8月間她將應聘到Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw律師事務所設在華盛頓特區的一個分所工作，與柯林頓總統的前商務部長Mickey Kan-tor共事。 [2006-07-31]

華嚴創作研討會 轟動廣州

【中新社廣州電】由廣東省社會科學院哲學與文化研究所主辦的台灣著名女作家華嚴文學創作學術研討會，日前在廣州舉行。

華嚴女士生於書香門第，自幼受到家庭的熏陶。華嚴先祖父為中國近代偉大啟蒙思想家嚴復先生，以翻譯《天演論》，倡「物競天擇，適者生存」的進化論思想，名載史冊。此間論者表示，華嚴受過良好的西方現代教育，卻又注重繼承傳統，與嚴復可謂一脈相承。

華嚴女士是台灣著名的文化活動家和小說作家，自1960年發表長篇小說《智慧的燈》以來，幾十年筆耕不輟。

華嚴的小說從側面反映了20世紀現代中國的歷史和五○年代後台灣的社會變遷，以及在變遷中，心靈激烈的內在衝突。

華嚴作品富於創意，構思嚴謹，文筆流暢。其小說曾多次改編為電影和電視連續劇，深受台、港及海外華人歡迎。改革開放以來，台灣的作家在大陸擁有眾多讀者群。華嚴女士作品也發行過大陸版，如《智慧的燈》、《神仙眷屬》、《明月幾時圓》、《秋的變奏》等。

芙蓉姐姐賣博客 開價百萬
擬與eBay等網站合作 她說賣博客是想籌錢出書

【本報綜合報導】轟動一時的芙蓉姐姐，又開始籌劃商業新舉措了，她在其官方網站上宣布，要拍賣之前放置在博客網上的芙蓉姐姐官方博客的內容，起價100萬元一年。 芙蓉姐姐說，她打算跟eBay或其他拍賣網站合作這次拍賣。

據「競報」報導，芙蓉姐姐認為自己拍賣博客最大的動機是：「我是想為我的文字找個家，把我的思想放進去，為我的喜怒哀樂找到一個很好的歸宿。」

她在博客裡寫道：「我一直想著能出書，一生至少能出20本書，但是出書的環節太複雜，我又急於和大家分享我的快樂和憂傷，所以我匆匆忙忙為我的快樂和憂傷尋找一個可以揮霍的舞台。」

報導指出，芙蓉姐姐認為，自己拍賣博客會造成芙蓉姐姐、商家和廣大網友的「三贏」局面。

報導說，芙蓉姐姐還宣稱，自己是歷史上賣博客的第一人，也是博客產業化的先鋒，必將創造一種全新的經濟模式。芙蓉姐姐專職私人助理稱：芙蓉姐姐博客擁有「百度393萬搜索總量，Google 242萬搜索總量……」且「該博客點擊量超過252萬2112……」

eBay有關負責人說，芙蓉姐姐已經開始和他們接觸了，預計起拍日期在7月中旬。而且他們僅提供交易平台，價格等都是賣家自己定。

報導說，芙蓉姐姐表示，這個100萬的價格是根據芙蓉姐姐能產生的經濟效益。同時結合買家的預算能力制定的。芙蓉姐姐說她對買家沒有任何限制，任何有需要有能力的單位和個人都可以參與購買，拍賣的標準主要是價格，出價高的買家將得到她官方博客的經營權。
