Pan Pacific and Asian American Cultural Concert Will be Held to Honor U. S. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao By Tiffany Chang Dr. John Wang, Spokesman of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) announced on November 27, 2001: "Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum was established by WBTI web (http://communitylink.reviewjournal.com/lvrj/wbti) which is brought to you by Las Vegas Review-Journal to pay a special tribute to U. S. Secretary Honorable Elaine Chao on September 28, 2001. The Forum also will hold its second year "Pan Pacific and Asian American Cultural Concert" at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Event Center in Las Vegas next Spring. It will be presented by State of Nevada, WBTI, and 1NetBroadcast Inc. U. S. Senator John Ensign and U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley will be the Chairpersons of the Event. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the Republic of Philippines and professional leaders of several field of expertise from many countries will attend the event. More than 3,700 people will participate the concert. The whole program will be produced for TV show which will reach 100 million families all around the world. A dinner party was held by the President of 1NetBroadcast Inc. Dallas Tanner for a tribute to Dr. and Mrs. Tony Lei for their contribution and support to the Event and show party on October 22, 2001 at the Showroom of the Venetian in Las Vegas. The theme of the Event was 'Lights of Las Vegas' Symbolizes One Nation under God . The dinner party on October 27, 2001 at the Sienna Cafe of Suncoast Casino and Hotel was highlighted by the Letter of Appreciation from the Incorporation which was presented by Tanner and 1Net Broadcast Vice President Margie Dikit to Dr. Lei who is the President of WBTI." As the Director of Nevada Manufacturing Research Center of UNLV, Dr. Wang is also the Advisor of the Student and Scholar Association of UNLV. He has received great encouraagement by the Ambassador and General Conuselor Offices of China to the United States for their participation of the Event. At the age of 19, Eleine Chao was elected as a Scholar of the U. S. White House. U. S. Labor Secretary Chao was Chairperson of Federal Air Transportation, Vice President of Bank of American Main Office. In addition, she has contributed many years of community service and charity endeavor notably, as President of United Way, President of Peace Corps, and Senior Fellow of Heritage Foundation. Secreatary Chao received her B. A. degree in Economics with straight A for all her four years at the famous Mount Holyoke College in New England. She obtained her M. B. A. degree from Harvard University in 1979. She has received 12 of her Honorary Doctorate degrees. She was married to U. S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky of the third term) in 1993. At the time she was nominated by President Bush as the Secretary of Labor, she told her father that she was not intend to be an "Authoritative Official".
