For KAIROS, for spiritual and humane belief
By Judy, John, and Mike Lei

It is a good thing to learn from the following teaching of the Bible:

"Wisdom is sweet to your soul;
if you find it,there is a future hope for you,
and your hope will not be cut off."
--- Proberb 24:14*1

"Hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."
-- Romans 5:5*2

Under the teaching of the God, it is our first experience to post the information to us from KAIROS:

Report says LV extends reign as convention king*1

City ranks atop Tradeshow Week list for 10th year

By CHRIS JONES
GAMING WIRE

Workers on Wednesday arrange Milliken Carpet's booth for the Hospitality Design Show at the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Measured by square footage, Las Vegas' 16.9 million total equated to a 27.4 percent market share of the nation's 200 largest shows, Tradeshow Week said.

Las Vegas was again named the nation's top convention destination for 2003, extending a remarkable 10-year reign as the industry's No. 1 host market, editors of a respected industry publication said this week.

Since 1974, Tradeshow Week, a Los Angeles-based magazine that monitors the global convention industry, has compiled a list of the nation's largest conventions and trade shows. Its annual Tradeshow Week 200 report, to be published in Friday's edition, also lists the industry's busiest cities as ranked by most large shows hosted, as well as total square footage leased by such shows during the year.

For 2003, Las Vegas again ranked as the industry's dominant market in both categories. Its 38 shows were 11 more than second-place Chicago and 21 better than last year's third-place finisher, Orlando, Fla.
....

Paul Dykstra, whose GES Exposition Services supports some of this city's largest trade shows including the International Consumer Electronics Show and National Association of Broadcasters' annual event, said Wednesday he's not surprised Las Vegas has maintained its top ranking for so long.

"We've seen strengthening in all of our Vegas-based business," said Dykstra, who is president and chief executive officer of GES. "It's got a terrific convention and visitors bureau, three of the (nation's) largest venues and the hotels and infrastructure that really support the convention and trade show business."

That opinion was supported by Patti Shock, who is chairwoman of the tourism and convention department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Shock said Wednesday that conventions held here usually draw more attendees because guests know there's plenty to do outside the trade show hall -- a characteristic that often means less work for show planners.

"Who wants to sit at a banquet room, rubber chicken dinner when they can be out doing Las Vegas?" Shock asked. "Here (show organizers) don't have to plan so many events" to occupy delegates after hours.

Shock added local convention centers' proximity to hotels, restaurants and other attractions makes Las Vegas more appealing than cities where guests must travel great distances from venue to venue, particularly for large, citywide conventions.

Las Vegas is the only city that's home to three of the country's 10 largest convention venues: the 2.3 million-square-foot Las Vegas Convention Center; 1.9 million-square foot Sands Expo and Convention Center adjacent to The Venetian; and the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, a 1.5 million-square-foot center on the south Strip.

While the presence of several large halls allows Las Vegas to maximize its trade show calendar, Shock said she routinely hears from meeting planners who complain that they can't book space in Las Vegas because the city is already too busy.

"We're so busy we can't keep up with all the business we do have," Shock said. "There would be tons and tons more people who'd meet here if they could get in."

To that end, 871,000 square feet of new meeting space is scheduled to open at various sites in town by the end of 2006, bringing the citywide inventory close to 10 million square feet.
....
Last year, conventions added an estimated $6.5 billion to the local economy, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. That total included smaller shows as well as those mentioned in the Tradeshow Week 200.

The 2003 International Consumer Electronics Show, held Jan. 8-12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, was named the year's largest trade show with nearly 1.25 million square feet used. Overall, Las Vegas was host to six of the year's 10 largest events.*2

Jackie Glass appoints Adjunct Associate Professor of the GSBPA of Washington Business and Technology Institute
By Valorie Vega, Bill Young, and Tiffany Chang

The Titus 2:7-8 of Bible tells us that, "In everything set ...an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemmed."*1

In meeting with the large and growing population of public employees in the states of Asia and Nevada, Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) will open its training programs for the increasing graduate study and research needs of professional public administrators. To emphasize the balance of the practicality and theoraticality of the programs, the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) of WBTI has supported by many high-ranking officials of Nevada in offering their times, experiences, and knowledge to teach at an honorary or adjunct capacity.*2

"Through the recommendation by our several faculty members including District Judge Valorie Vega, Ms. Jackie Glass has been appointed Adjunct Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) on March 9, 2004," announced Dr. John Wang, Spokesman of WBTI, on March 10, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Following the spirit of entrepreneurship, Jackie Glass has always been willing to take a challenge head on. Now she is on her challenge!

While still in high school, Jackie worked as a waitress to help buy her school supplies and school clothes. When she decided to attend the University of Georgia, she continued as a waitress and worked her way through college. She took on extracurricular assignments, and earned a degree in journalism.

Her journalism career brought Jackie to Las Vegas in 1978 where she began as a radio news reporter. She moved quickly to television and served as both a morning anchor and crime beat reporter. As she followed the course of the trials she covered, she watched attorneys in action, and knew she could do as well. A new challenge lay before her.

Once again, she worked her way through college, graduating from the University of San Diego School of Law. In 1984, Jackie passed the Nevada Bar exam before graduation, received her Juris Doctor Degree,*3 was admitted to the Nevada Bar, and married her husband, Steve Wolfson.

With her husband, Jackie worked to build their successful law practice while helping at her daughters' school, chaperoning field trips to Washington, DC, supporting the Girl Scouts and projects such as Nevada Reading Week.

On the professional side, Jackie has lectured at the UNLV Boyd School of Law, spoke on law topics at local high schools, and appeared on the KLVX show, "Law for the Layman". She has devoted years as a hearing master to juvenile, domestic and paternity issues as well as criminal law.

She credits her seventeen years of legal experience and her work as a journalist on the crime beat for giving her an insight for the law, the role of the judiciary, the needs of victims, and for ways to make our system work better.

She served as a member of the Las Vegas Housing Authority Board and spent six years as a Board Member of the Senior Citizens Law Project.

As a District Court Judge of Department 5, Nevada, Jackie Glass is part of a new generation involved with her family, her profession and her community to make a difference for all of us here in our Silver State.

People with integrity live with clear consciences. "To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice," stated in the Proverbs 21:3 of Bible.*4

"I agree with Judge Valorie Vega's idea to be honored as a Fellow of the Public Administration Institution (PAI) of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). She wrote: 'It will undoubtedly provide me with avenuess for exploring improvements in public services to which I am most dedicated.' I'm glad also to share the similar position as its faculty member--- Obligatory Legal Counselor of Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum (PPAAF).

"It's significant. Dr. Tony Lei told me that for comunity service --- that based on 'love in action is service above self' --- the abundanct reward from one's humune love, spiritual excellence, and professionalism of expertise are far more greater than solely his or her title," said Jackie Glass, Esq. on April 18, 2002. Jackie is now a famous District Judge of Nevada.*5

On March 9, 2004 at the Event and Dinner Party held by the Asian American Community for Ms. Ellen Knowlton, Special Agent in Charge, FBI, as the Speaker; Jackie was very pleased to learn from Dr. Tony Lei, President of WBTI, that she was challenged with a teaching professionalism in the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration of WBTI for our community at an adjucnt capacity.*6

Some arrangenment of innovation on WBTI website
By PAI of WBTI

It is our concern about the 'readers friendly' for our visitors of the WBTI website. In taking the advice of our viewers', we have the following arrangement of innovation on our WBTI website:

1. On March 5, 2004, we create the Section of "PPAA18 (Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum)", which will be all of programming in English.
2. At the same time, we create the Section of "Cartoons, Pictures, and Photos", which will include cartoons, news, and editorial (from LVRJ); Pictures; and Photos; all in English.
3. Finnally, we create the Section of "LAF5 (in Chinese)", which will include articles, scannings, photos, and programmings all in Chinese.

We listen to our viewers of WBTI website. We follow the good and constructive ideas of our visitors. Thnak you very much.
