To Our Community and Society with Love-- the Faith of PAI By Jessie Walsh, Cheryl Moss, and Tiffany Chang Public Administration Institution (PAI) of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) was established in January 18, 2000. We have produced distinguished public servers, excellent scholars, successful entrepreneurers, and outstanding community leaders. Our vision for 2003 is: (1) To launch significant activities on promoting the tourism, trade, and investment from foreign countries to Nevada. (2) To endeavor academic, cultural, music, and arts through mutual cooperation among civil and government organizations in Nevada. People had been inspired by U. S. Senator-elect John Ensign's sincerity, humanility, and credibility more than just his wealth and good looks three years ago. "Love must be sincere. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves," says the Bible (Romans 12:9-10). In view of his admirable qualities, achieve ments, passion, and unshakable belief in building a better Nevada, WBTI honored John as Advisor and Vice Chairman of its Advisory Board on November 8, 2000. He is now U. S. Senator. "It's a very prestigious honor to be appointed by WBTI as an Associate Fellow of PAI. WBTI is a very well respected and integral part of this community. I'm grateful to be joining such a distinguished panel of professionals who are committed to improving the lives of our citizens in this community," said Judge Ann Zimmerman. "We've our Director and Fellow Dr. William Thompson; Fellows Dina Titus, Nancy Becker, Dr. Roy Adamson (in memory of his life time endeavor to education), Frankie Sue Del Papa, Terry Care, Mark Denton, Valorie Vega; Associate Fellows Jennifer Togliatti, Michelle Leavitt, Jessie Walsh, Lisa Brown, Cheryl Moss, Mary Kincaid, Lynette McDonald, Cedric Kerns, Betsy Kolkoski, Ann Zimmerman, Natalie Tyrrell, Sheri Vogel; Research Associate Theresa Malone; Assistant Iris Zhang." By the act of love itself, we are enriched. Love in action is service above self. Make service a part of our character and experience the abundant reward that comes from serving others. Let our candles fuel a fire of service that will fan out in ever- increasing circles. With these circles, together we can close our eyes and envision a community that is safe, peaceful, and healthy. "I'll remained dedicated to helping the community. I've been inspired by Dr. Lei's leadership, wisdom, and guidance for my effort to community service. Tony's accomplishments have demonstrated that taking part in the community with his unselfish kindness for service can make an excellent for our society," said Distict (Family) Court Judge Cheryl Moss. "Public Administration Institution of WBTI has played the role as a private NPO (Non Profit Organization) to promote the study and research of public administration and strategy for social and public profit. With the effort of the Faculty and under the brilliant leadership of Dr. Tony Lei, WBTI has accomplished a valuable contribution to the academic research and community service for Nevada. We share a great deal of honor also as what Justice Becker does for her prestige as a PAI Fellow. Her participation to this Institution will enrich and enhance its academic production featured with practicality and adaptability as an efficient 'intelligent Tank' through her excellent and fruitful public administration experience and contribution," said the President of Seniors United Lillian Wallace on Nevada Examiner in May 9, 2000. Judge Natalie Tyrrell believes that WBTI has built a sound foundation with its excellent and achieved faculty members. She says that we have been encouraged to better our endeavor for we have Dr. Kenny Guinn, Governor of Nevada as our Chairman of the Advisory Board; U. S. Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign as Vice Chairmen; and U. S. Congress Representatives James Gibbons and Shelley Berkley, and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman as Executive Advisors. Judge Jessie Walsh was impressed by sharring with District Judge Valorie Vega's idea on having the honor to be a Fellow of PAI. "This position will undoubtedly provide me with avenues for explorng improvements in public services to which I am most dedicated," Judge Vega wrote. Judge Walsh felt honor to be Associate Director of Pan Pacific and American Asian Forum (PPAAF) when she was informed by WBTI with the recommendation in 2001. Jessie is now a District Judge of Nevada. "Even with the constancy of his presidential responsibilities, Tony carved out time and energy during the past three years with wisdom and knowledge through the cooperation of Dr. William Thompson to create the blueprint for the Institution that ultimately paved the way for the 2000 openning of our Public Administration Institution of WBTI," said Justice of the Supreme Court of Nevada Nancy Becker to Nevada Examiner on June 30, 2000. Professor Dina Titus was honored Fellow of PAI on August 15, 2001. She is Nevada State Senator and Professor of Political Science of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. "It's my pleasure to present myself at the concert and it's my appreciation to be honored in the Event at the Venetian," said the achieved statewoman and scholar who was also elected as the Democratic National Committeewoman last November. "With the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, WBTI has achieved holding several significant and contributing events during past years. The ones for U. S. This Event of our elegancy will include building a community where our and future generations will have even more opportunities and advantages to live a prosperous life." Together we can GROW (Go Reach Our World). We are sincere servers to improve the quality of life of all our Nevadans. "Power in politics should have a direction that the power based on knowledge is the power of righteousness. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and golden country through the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service. In God we trust. One of life's important purpose is to serve our lovely society," Dr. Lei points out. A dinner was held at the Horseshoe Club Gee Joon Chinese Restaurant for the reunion of the famillies of Dr. William Thompson and Dr. Tony Lei by WBTI on January 28, 2002. Innovative in integrating his expertise in institutional management and spiritual value in education, Dr. Lei's wisdom and efforts towards community service and academic endeavor have been very valuable. Golden Words |
(1) With sincere love, it's like living in Heaven. On the other hand, with cruel hate, it's like living in Hell. Fighting and malice for selfish gain belong to Hell. Cooperation and encouragement to promote quality of life are attitudes of Heaven. (2) The paralleied practice of both the positive thinking and love in action through the skills with good personal traits such as enthusiam, belief, intellegence, creativity, judgement, liveliness, vision, courage, desire to excel, and persistence, will help people pursue rich, happier, and successful life. (3) One of my philosophy of management for many years teaching in the Graduate School of Business Administration of National Chengchi University and National Chunghsing University was to enphasize that, "The reaching of peak management achievement through successful work performance both on good production and human relations." (4) In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economicgrowth, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and golden country through: the power of public service that based on knowledge is the power of righteousness; the advancement of technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation; and the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service. (5) Anything you are good at contributes to happiness. Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. The great Winston Churchill said, "We all make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." Judge Natalie Tyrrell told me to exemply this inspiration same as her driving force by which she starts out each day. (6) Nine factors to achieve HAPPINESS inducted by a research from a modern psychological medicine: H --Happy Genes. Having genes of happiness. A --Altruism. To benefit other people, not selfish. P -- Purpose in Life. To have a central purpose in life. P -- Positive Attitude. Aggressive and positive attitute. I -- Intimate Relationship. Intimate social relations. N -- Never Retire.
