By Lillian Tsai (Lei Rong-Sheng 雷榕生) and Jennifer Kung

Why are we whipped by our moods?
Why do we get the blues?
Why do we sigh and cry
Until we feel, "Oh, What's the use?"
Why after all this dejection,
Does our spirit soar like a breeze?
Why are we gay and blithesome and
glad,
When a short while before,
We were lonely and sad?
Will somebody tell me...please?

Dear all:

I would like to recommend to you the 10/14 concert at the California Theatre in downtown S.J., a beautiful theatre, costing $10,000 per night in rent.

It is the world premier of "The Lyrics of the Oversea Chinese" 海外遊子吟, an original cantata ("musical composition consisting of vocal solos, choruses, etc., used as a setting for a story to be sung but not acted" according to the Webster’s dictionary).*1

The lyrics were written by poet and writer Gwo Ke 過客 and music composed by Ah Tang 阿鏜, both well known writers. Besides cantata, there will be songs relating to the oversea Chinese’s life, experience and mentality.

There are 5 members from SJCC [(including Lillian Tsai (Lei Rong-Sheng 雷榕生), and among others)] singing in the concert plus Tim conducting all the songs.

If you want to purchase tickets, $15@ (regularly $18@), please contact me. Don’t miss it because it may be an experience for a lifetime.*2

Burton Klein told us that, "In industry, it is never the industry leader who makes the big leap. On the contrary, it is the inventor or small guy who makes the big leap." Entrepreneurship is finding a new way to do something.

This Sunday October 1, 2006, the Sermon was delivered by Rev. Hing Chai Cheng, Pastor of River of Life Christian Church. The subject was "You are my Witnesses". As the river that flows from the Holy Place, and the beauty of holiness brings worship anew. The 2006 theme is "Arise & Shine - Prepare the Way of the Lord." The Worship was directed by Pastor James Wang. The MC was David Whitney.

"Please pray for the English Service that the Lord will raise up more co-worker to serve the English speaking people and that through this ministry, He will increase our influence in Silicon Valley," stated the English Service on its video screen on October 1, 2006.

In her speech to the Women Conference in the morning on September 22, 2006, Mrs. Belinda M. Liu dilivered an amazing testimony. "Two weeks ago in my Sunday School, I met with an elder and wise man (Dr. Tony Lei). He told me that WBTI (Washington Business and Technology Institute) was interested in opening a special section for me which would emphasize the educational and spiritual value. As I read his business card, praise Lord! he's the President. I was quite excited and scared. I was worry not being able to answer him appoximately. I told him that I had no formal education from a bible college. As you know I've been eager to enhance my teaching in Bible with a special website for many years. Now, an angel has been sent from God for me. Just this Monday (9/18/06), I clicked on the Section ("Belinda Liu's Spiritual World" at
http://communitylink.reviewjournal.com/lvrj/wbti) and I found a wonderful performance of my many years accomplishments with nice pictures has been implemented. Hallelujah! (The daily website is established and supported by the largest English newspaper in Nevada, Las Vegas Review-Journal). Through the publication of searching leaders each every seven days, the potential visitors from Internet are more than a million." *1

With sicerely love to God, nothing is impossible!

On a previous Sunday, Mr. David Whitney prayed, announced news, and introduced Mr. John Lei to present the Togo Mission through video. John spoke that, "Enthusiastic responses were shown by the people of the several villages that we visited. In one of them, we had more than thirty of them baptized. During the trip, we hsd more than 40 of them surrendered to believe God. The whole mission was very blessed. They were so joyful. Praise God! God worked with us during the mission through our glorification in His name." The video and presentation were very nice.

"We need and thank sincerely your presence and effort to join River of Life Christian Church's world missions in order to glorify our God," pointed out John.

The 2006 9/10-11/12 Sunday School was held by Mrs. Belinda M. Liu the forth week on October 1, 2006. The subject is on the advanced part in the chapter of "Numbers" of the Bible. Her sincerity is calling us for prayers to Israel and Jews. She explained also the story and significance of Passover. Many enthusiatic individuals attended the Class.*2

Belinda and his husband Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church, had worked for this church for more than ten years. She is also the founder of Double-Portion Ministries ("倍恩事奉中心"):

The Women Conference was held in Septmber 21-23, 2006 at River of Life Christian Church in Santa Clara, California. Mrs. Belinda M. Liu was one of the most important three Speakers. Thank you for your prayers for the Women Confernce starting the way that Spirit God would move in meetings and would use every speaker to release His messages to transform the lives of those who come.

said Mrs. Belinda M. Liu.*5

劉梅蕾師母," wrote Mrs. Belinda M. Liu to President Dr. Tony Lei of WBTI and his wife Judy. Praise God!*6

Two books entitled 「女人的咒詛與祝福」and 「為孩子的屬靈品格禱告」, written by Mrs. Senior Pastor Belinda M. Liu, were signed with good wishes and given by her to Dr. and Mrs. Tony Lei. They are best sellers and famous. They will become one of the valuable collections of Washinton Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).

You are on Google! The searching leaders published our last Sunday's feature article. Just type your name (like "belinda liu wbti", "Miss Prudy Yu", "劉梅蕾師母", "Miss Orchid Soh wbti", or "Tong Liu wbti") to the searching box of Google.cn, Google.com, Aol.com, and among others, and you will find it starting from the first line of their first page. Hallelujah!

By the act of love itself, we are enriched. Love in action is service above self. Make service a part of our character and experience the abundant reward that comes from serving others. The Bible teaches: "... let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth ( 1 John 3:18)." District ( Family ) Court Judge Cheryl Moss wrote Dr. Tony Lei that, "I am delighted and honored to be appointed by you as an Associate Fellow of the Public Administration Institution of Washington Business and Technology Institute. Thank you for this opportunity for me to serve, and I hope to gain more knowledge, insight, and awareness about public service and community issues through your prestigious institution. I remain dedicated to helping the community, and I am inspired by your leadership, wisdom, and guaidance. I am also fortunate to have met you and your wife, Judy, because you are both active and dynamic individuals in the community. Your accomplishment and achievement have demonstrated that taking part in the community does make a difference. Best wishes and thank you again for your unselfish kindness, support, and encouragement." *7

The spirit of both the innovation and entreprenuership has also motivated United States to be a leading and prosperous country. With its high-speed capability, Fiber Optics can convey mass quantity of images and voice information. It is because that the broadband technology such as Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) has been more and more developed. Moreover, because of the popular building of radio communication networks, wireless techniques may access important information from the web and condense it to be appeared on the small web connecting machines such as a hand-held screen. The open free software LINUX operating system can even connect various stations very easilly. All these advancement in science and technology, should be used to inspire the promotion of the quality of our daily life. In this new era of information and web works, we should add humanity concern into our thinking structures. God created the world. Everything can be decided by Him. As the value of the fellowship of Public Administration Institution of WBTI growing, we the people with intelligence and knowledge in administration, technology, science should enjoy a valuable and joyful life to serve our community and society with our efforts and wisdom.*8

Asking about how to open the file sent us by Pastor Hing-Chai Cheng, Ms. Jenny Long (Ms. Tao Long) wrote on August 23, 2006 that, "I can read all the articles and messages on your website. Maybe you will show me the file when we meet at the church." "I did click through the links on the site that you sent to me. I can open and read all the files there," wrote Jenny on August 22, 2006. In Proverbs 15 : 23 of the Bible, it stated that, "A man finds joy in giving an apt reply --- and how good is a timely word!" Jenny's enthusiastic concern and effort to WBTI have been highly appreciated.

"How do I go about contributing to your website? Must I create a new user-ID & then sign in? Cheers," asked Miss Orchid Soh by e-mail. Orchid was thanked and answered by WBTI that some writing or pictures through the e-mail to us would be highly welcomed.

***** Knowing how to live one's life with Jesus is a great art; and knowing how to hold him fast is the peak of wisdom. ---Thomas A. Kempis (1380-1471)

After the draft of an article (on 8/24/06) was informed to John, he replied with an e-mail that, "This is wonderful! Now more people will be blessed. Thank you!"

It's our pleasure to post a short story from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren:

The ServiceMaster Corporration serves as a beautiful example of a company that thoroughly integrates its corporate philosophy and mission into day-to-day affairs. Founded by Marion E. Wade, the story of its conception, genesis and growth is told in Wade's book, God is Counsel. Kenneth T. Wessner, Chairman of the Board of ServiceMaster, states:

"The philosopgy of a company determines the character and nature of business it conducts. The climate of a company is created by the concepts of managing and life that govern its policies and practices. The philosophy of ServiceMaster and the words we used to express that philosophy have been carefully conceived, nurtured, and refined through years of thought, work, and commitment. Our company philosophy is expressed in four objectives. These four staterment are the foundation upon which everything we do is built.

To honor God in all we do.
To help people develop.
To pursue excellence.
To grow profitably.

For the people of ServiceMaster, their work is not merely the making of a living; it is a way of life."

That solid philosophy has helped ServiceMaster become one of the largest cleaning service conglomerates in the world.*9

"It's a pleasure meeting you on this Sunday afternoon again at the River of Life Christian Church. I greatly enjoy our conversation. I'm happy to hear that you had attended the Evangelism Class that I'm teaching on Sunday mornings. The WBTI's website is valuable for its infomative and knowledgeable articles and reports. Thank you for your kind commands and your interest in having me contribute to the information on the WBTI's website," said Kevin Gordon, Esq., in the Fellowship of English Service on August 20, 2006.

Now I know why John becomes such an outstanding young man. :) It's also wonderful to know that your organization has been serving the community and our country. I hope we will get a chance to chat again on Sundays."

The Coffee/Tea Fellowship of the four Sundays in August, 2006 were highlightened by the "to serve and to give heartily" of Lei's family: John helped promote the Sevice and Fellowship. Judy coocked the whole things of the "Chau Mien" (chau noddles) and prepared the salad. Tony has inspired the the spirit and value of the English Service and Fellowship of River of Life Christian Church through publications locally, natioally, and internationally.

Miss Vivian Chao joined Judy in preparing for the food of the Coffee/Tea Fellowship. She prepared the fruits and cakes.

Ms. Jenny Long served the food for English Service Fellowship on October 2006.

As a sincere believer of God, we found that we can even live as in the heaven in this World at the present. Whether people is living in the Heaven or in the Hell is up to his or her selection. With sincere love, you are likely to live in the Heaven. With cruel hate, you are likely live in the Hell. To fight and destroy each others for property and fame is where the place called Hell. To cooperate with each others to promote our quality of life will be the place where we people may make it as a Heaven.*10

Therfore, the Heaven is where the place full of love while the Hell is where the place full of hate. It is all depending on your heart to see whether you are in the Heaven or in the Hell. By using this standard, you may measure the quality or depth of yours in the Heaven or your in the Hell.

Accordng to the oriental (not Asian) ways of life, people would suspect the one who always find out and praise the good characters and accomplishment of others. In the many thousand years of the past, it was one of the factor that hurt the encouragement for innovation and science development for the Asian people and countries.

After a full applause by the audience at his speech, a professor automatically spoke his mind: "The people who enthusiastically give a hand to others, will certainly one day get a lot of more applauses!"

Everytime when he was encouraged and praised by an individual, Dr. Tony Lei used to remind: "The one who knows how to praise other people, is the one herself or himself having certainly lots of more goodness which are worth for us to praise for!" *11

"As you walk into the church, you might have noticed that we value the time of worship. What is worship? According to the scriptures, it means to come before God's throne. First, you must surrender yourself before the Lord, lay down your burdens and the things that you love to boast about, and solely look at the Lord. Next, you must open your heart before the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to work in you. Let Him soften your heart, heal your soul and speak to you. Sometimes, you might have some sensation in your body such as heat or electricity flowing through you. Do not be afraid because it means He is with you. These are the manifestation of God's presence," pointed out Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church, Santa Clara, California.*12

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."
--- Galatians 5:22 of the Bible

To a friend's house the road is never long. Let's share together with some of the golden words about firendship from the Bible:
***** Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. ---Romans 12:10
***** Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel. ---Proverbs 27:9
***** Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. ---John 15:13-15
***** He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend. ---Proverbs 22-11*13

U. S. Senator-elect John Ensign's great-grandfather first came to Nevada almost a hundred years ago as a miner and labored in its towns. This respectable man worked hard to provide for his family and taught his children the value of hard work, integrity, and independence. "The significance of life is to inspire and educate the continuous lives of the universe," said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). People came to America to seek the American dream. Even though not all of them can realize their American dream, eventually they could teach and help their children accomplish their contributions to our country.*14

As a born-again Christian, people have been inspired by his sincererity, humbleness, and credibility much more than just his wealthy and handsome appearance now. On October 15, John attended the worship service of the Liberty Baptist Church. He offered a short speech of testifmony. He said that he was very frustrated with his first taste of political failure, when he lost by a mere 428 votes to U. S. Senator Harry Reid. However, he believes God and has surrendered his fate to God. John's faith in God helped him to overcome his frustration and disappointment and enabled him to continue to strive to succeed. The Bible says "...though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed (1 Peter 1:6-7)". If a window was closed, God might re-open the window or even open a different door for those who are eager to utilize his or her knowledge and expertise to serve. As all Christians acknowledge - with God, anything is possible.

For many years, we taught people successfully to make money through the modern knowledge of organization and management in business. For the years to go, we will continue to encourage our friends to love the God, and to love our people, professionalism, community, and country.*15

"Incentives (of love) brings us with encouragement. Encouragement brings us with good work performance. In the 5:19 on Ecclesiastes of the Bible, it stated that 'When God gives any man (or woman) wealth and possessions, and enable him (or her) to enjoy them, to accept his (or her) lot and be happy in his (or her) work---this is a gift of God,'" said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute.*16

In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economic growth and personal prosperity, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and silver country through: the power of public service that based on knowledge is the power of rightousness; the advancement of technology, entreprenueship, and innovation; and the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service.*17

We believe the spiritual significance of "To serve and to give heartily". The English Service of River of Life Christian Church is blessing!*18

Jesus said, "Everyone who bears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." --- Matthew 7:24-25 of the "Bible"

Our knowledge, wisdom, and professionalism are all achieved by our sincere love to God!" said President Dr. Tony Lei of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).*19

This one has been verified! Real fraud!

I checked this out on: http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/juryduty.asp

It's true!

JURY DUTY SCAM

Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call.

Most of us take those summons for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of scam has surfaced. Fall for it and your identity could be stolen, reports CBS.

In this con, someone calls pretending to be a court official who threateningly says a warrant has been issued for your arrest because you didn't show up for jury duty. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator.

If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Sometimes they even ask for credit card numbers. Give out any of this information and bingo! Your identity just got stolen.

The scam has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma, Illinois, Colorado, Texas and California..

This (scam) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they're with the court system.

The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud.

President抯 Ramadan Message 2006

I send greetings to the many Muslims observing Ramadan in and around the world.

Ramadan is the holiest time of the Muslim year and an important holiday when Muslims take time for prayer, fasting, and personal sacrifice. According to Islamic teachings, this month represents when God delivered His word to the prophet Muhammad in the form of the Qur'an. Ramadan is also an opportunity to gather with friends and family and show thanks for God's blessings through works of charity.

Ramadan and the upcoming holiday seasons are a good time to remember the common values that bind us together. Our society is enriched by our Muslim citizens whose commitment to faith reminds us of the gift of religious freedom in our country.

Laura and I send our best wishes for a blessed Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak.

REVIEW-JOURNAL

Chaz Higgs spoke of committing the perfect crime.

If he wanted to kill somebody, he told a fellow nurse in July, he would use a paralyzing drug that he believed would go undetected after death, according to a police report.

The next morning his wife, state Controller Kathy Augustine, was rushed to a Reno hospital. She never regained consciousness, and three days later she was dead.

Higgs, 42, a critical care nurse at Carson-Tahoe Hospital, told police and media that Augustine had suffered a heart attack. But it wasn't long before the whispers started.

The couple's relationship was on the rocks, and she was talking about divorce, people said. He didn't seem to grieve like a loving husband would. She was in perfect health.

The whispers didn't stop until Friday, when authorities arrested Higgs in Hampton, Va., on charges of first-degree murder in Augustine's death.

Reno police said Augustine died after being injected with succinylcholine, a powerful muscle relaxant and paralyzing agent often used in hospitals to temporarily paralyze a patient so a breathing tube can be inserted into the windpipe.

It was the same drug Higgs had mentioned to his co-worker, police said, one that has been frequently used by medical workers to commit murder.

For Phil Alfano, Augustine's brother, the arrest confirmed suspicions that had been simmering since Augustine was hospitalized.

"You know how it is with a relative," he said. "You don't want to say things. But things with him bothered me."

The arrest also renewed interest in the death of Augustine's former husband of 17 years, Charles Augustine, who died in 2003 at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. Higgs had taken care of Charles Augustine at the hospital, and three weeks after he died Higgs and Kathy Augustine married in Hawaii.

Clark County District Attorney David Roger said Friday evening he had been in contact with both Washoe County authorities and Las Vegas homicide investigators regarding the Augustine case and in particular, the fate of her former husband. He said he will meet with Las Vegas police Monday to discuss whether the body of Charles Augustine should be exhumed.

Greg Augustine, Kathy Augustine's 36-year-old stepson, has hired Las Vegas lawyer Dominic Gentile to ask authorities to investigate his father's death. Greg Augustine had said he wanted his father's body exhumed if investigators found foul play in his stepmother's death.

"It would be irresponsible for me not to do this for Dad," he said. "He did suffer a stroke, but he was getting better."

Dr. Cyril Wecht, one of the nation's most respected medical examiners, said he believes Charles Augustine's body must be exhumed and screened for succinylcholine.

"I think they've got to in light of the facts of this case," Wecht said. "I would."

Kathy Augustine seemed to be in perfect health before she was rushed to Washoe Medical Center the morning of July 8.

Higgs had called 911 about 6:30 a.m. from the couple's Reno home. He told police he had found Augustine in bed, unconscious and not breathing.

At a news conference, Higgs told reporters that Augustine had suffered a heart attack.

But during Augustine's autopsy, medical examiners found no evidence of heart disease that could trigger a sudden heart attack. They did find a mysterious needle mark on her buttocks that could not be explained, according to a Reno police report.

As suspicions about Higgs grew in the days following Augustine's death, he proclaimed his innocence.

"I loved this woman who died, and now there is all this (expletive) coming up," Higgs told the Review-Journal. "It is just crazy for people to assume I had something to do with it. I asked for the autopsy. I want to clear it up. My wife was a healthy 50-year-old woman who dropped dead. I want to find out what happened. People don't know what went on in our home. She was frazzled and stressed out."

A day after speaking with the newspaper, Higgs slashed his wrists in the Las Vegas home he had shared with Augustine. He was released from a local hospital later that day and didn't make another public statement. He also did not attend her funeral the next day.

Meanwhile authorities sent Augustine's urine sample to the FBI forensic lab in Quantico, Va., for analysis. Among the substances the lab began looking for was succinylcholine, the substance Higgs had mentioned to a fellow nurse the day before Augustine lost consciousness, police said.

The nurse called Reno police the day Augustine died and relayed the conversation with Higgs.

The nurse said Higgs mentioned Darren Mack, who is charged with shooting his wife to death and shooting a family court judge in Reno, the police report said.

Higgs called Mack "stupid" and said he would use succinylcholine if he wanted to kill someone because it was undetectable after death, the report said. Higgs also told the nurse he was having marital problems and planned to end the relationship, according to the report.

The nurse's tip was key because succinylcholine isn't usually included in routine toxicology tests, and only specialized labs can detect it. Investigators would have to suspect its use and order a specific toxicology test to detect it in the blood or urine, Wecht said.

"You have to be thinking of it and looking for it, or it's not going to show," Wecht said.

Succinylcholine is commonly used in the operating room, but if someone is given succinylcholine and they are not given a mechanism to breathe -- such as a breathing tube -- then the patient can die, said Las Vegas anesthesiologist John Brouwers.

"You have to breathe for them," Brouwers said. "The breathing muscles become paralyzed, and you can't breathe for yourself."

Succinylcholine is a controlled drug, meaning you can't just get it anywhere. It is usually found only in a medical or hospital setting.

If an individual is given the drug without an accompanying barbiturate or anesthetic, he or she would remain conscious and unable to communicate while dying.

Reno police received the FBI's test results on Wednesday. They confirmed the presence of succinylcholine in Augustine's urine.

Police got an arrest warrant for Higgs the same day and sent two detectives to Hampton, Va., where Higgs had been visiting relatives for about a month, Reno police Lt. Jon Catalano said.

Authorities sealed the warrant because they didn't want Higgs to learn of it, he said.

"We believed Chaz was a flight risk and, based on what happened in Las Vegas, a suicide risk," Catalano said.

FBI agents staked out Higgs' brother's house Friday and arrested him about 2:50 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time when he pulled into the driveway, he said.

Higgs was booked into the local jail, where he awaits an extradition hearing before he can be transported to Northern Nevada.

A Navy veteran, Higgs had no criminal record but twice filed for personal bankruptcy when he lived in the East. He has a 10-year-old daughter from a previous marriage.

Augustine's daughter, Dallas Augustine, said Higgs' arrest "brought up the whole grieving process all over again."

"Two months ago I was faced with my mom's death, and that was completely devastating. Now I have to deal with the fact that my stepfather is being charged with her murder," she said during a brief statement to the media outside her mother's Las Vegas home.

Greg Augustine said he and other family members had been "cautiously suspicious" that Higgs was responsible for his stepmother's death and didn't believe she died from a stress-related illness.

She might have been in the middle of a political campaign for state treasurer, but she had survived being the only elected official to be impeached in Nevada. In November 2004, the Assembly unanimously impeached Augustine on charges she used her office staff and equipment for her re-election campaign.

She was censured but allowed to keep her office.

She was running for treasurer this year because term limits prevented her from running again for controller.

Alfano, Kathy Augustine's brother, said the family wonders what motive Higgs might have had to kill his wife.

"It is a question we all are asking," said Alfano, a Modesto, Calif., high school principal. "We can't get inside his head. I am confident it all will come out."

Alfano, who is the administrator of Augustine's estate, said her homes in Reno and Las Vegas, as well as a $500,000 annuity, were left to Dallas Augustine.

Higgs only received the couple's motor vehicles and some sports equipment, he said.

Alfano said Augustine drew up her will in 2004 and Higgs might not have known that he would receive little when she died.

He said Augustine did not have a $1 million insurance policy, which some media outlets have reported.

"Their relationship seemed strange to us from the very beginning," Alfano said. "My hope is he does the right thing and owns up to his crime. I hope he spares my family additional grief."

Dallas Augustine said she had no reason to suspect Higgs until Friday.

"I was firm with my believing that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and now we have the evidence to go on," she said.

"Now he can rot."

Review-Journal staff writer Lynnette Curtis contributed to this report.

Belinda Liu and her Double Portion Ministries
By Jennifer Kung

Blessed is the man/woman who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in Him.
He/she will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.

***** There is no more noble occupation in the world than to assit another human being---to help someone succeed. ---Alan Loy McGinnis

It is a pleasure of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) to encourage and recognize those outstanding individuals, groups, or programs which enrich the lives of many in our community.*1

Mrs. Belinda M. Liu is the Founder of Double-Portion Ministries ("倍恩事奉中心"). The Women Conference on September 21-23, 2006 will be held by Double-Portion Ministries (『倍恩事奉中心』) under the leadership of Mrs. Senior Pastor Belinda Liu in River of Life Christian Church at Santa Clara, California.

John Keats said that a thing of beauty is a joy forever. By reading the following parts of the hisory of "倍恩事奉中心", it may lead us to envision some of Belinda's spiritual world:

Belinda is a woman of prayers. She always prays to God for others. 基督教藝文作家 娃柔(區師母)described Belinda as in the following:

劉師母是一個禱告的人,當她全神貫注、情詞迫切地為人禱告、向神呼求時,因著神的同在及憐憫,常有奇妙的事發生。

劉師母是一個認真學習的人,她虛心學習,忠心教導,靈命不斷進深,生命有聖靈的果子,眼中流露出愛的光芒,她是一個美麗的女人,因為愛神的女人最美。

她是劉彤牧師身旁的賢內助、好幫手,哈利路亞!

The 2006 9/10-11/12 Sunday School was held by Mrs. Belinda M. Liu the second week on September 17, 2006. The subject is on the advanced part in the chapter of "Numbers" of the Bible. Many individuals attended the Class enthusiastically.*3

Belinda and his husband Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church, had worked for this church for more than ten years. She is also the founder of "倍恩事奉中心":

The Women Conference will be held in Septmber 21-23, 2006 at River of Life Christian Church in Santa Clara, California. Mrs. Belinda M. Liu will be one of the most important three Speakers. Please pray for the Women Confernce starting the way that Spirit God will move in meetings and will use every speaker to release His messages to transform the lives of those who come.

said Mrs. Belinda M. Liu.*6

劉梅蕾師母," wrote Mrs. Belinda M. Liu to President Dr. Tony Lei of WBTI and his wife Judy. Praise God!*7

Just type your name (like "Miss Orchid Soh", "Mrs. Belinda M. Liu wbti", "Ms. Abby Komashko", "Miss Vivian Chao wbti", or "Miss Esther Huang wbti") to the searching box of Google.cn, Google.com, Aol.com, and among others, and you will find it starting from the first line of their first page.

Best wishes and thank you again for your unselfish kindness, support, and encouragement." *8

As the value of the fellowship of Public Administration Institution of WBTI growing, we the people with intelligence and knowledge in administration, technology, science should enjoy a valuable and joyful life to serve our community and society with our efforts and wisdom.*9

To serve our brothers and sisters with article writing, WBTI used to inform them the draft and asked them for modification or comment. After the draft of an article (on 8/24/06) was informed to John, he replied with an e-mail that, "This is wonderful! Now more people will be blessed. Thank you!"

It's our pleasure to post a short story from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren:

Enthusiasm is important, especially very important to many things in our lives. We are pleased to quote the following three short but meaningful ones:

***** There is nothing greater than enthusiasm. ---Henry Moore
***** If you don't have enthusiasm, you don't have anything. ---Kemmons Wilson, Sr.
***** Nothing good or great can be done in the absence of enthusiasm. ---Tom Peters

It's our pleasure to post a short story from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren:

The word enthusiasm comes from the Greek roots en and theos and means "God within." It is a fire, a passion within. Real enthusiasm is not something you "put on" and "take off " to fit the occasion. It is a way of life.
Apparently Theodore Roosevelt possessed that kind of passionate lifestyle. In 1883, according to Bernard Levin, writing in Enthusiasms (Crown Publishers), Roosevelt went buffalo hunting in the Badlands of South Dakota with a single companion, Joe Ferris. They nearly died of thirst, and they slept on the ground, saddles their only pillows. One night wolves caused their horses to bolt, and it took some time for the fleeing beasts to be recaptured. The men went back to sleep; it began to rain heavily and they awoke, finding themselves lying in four inches of water. Shivering between sodden blankets, Ferris heard Teddy Roosevelt exclaim, "By Godfrey, but this is fun!"
Now that's enthusiasm!*10

"Thank God for His grace. What a special year! Double Portion Ministry has invited two famous worldwide female speakers to the women conference. It is such a wonderful blessing to our church. I deeply believe that God has a unique purpose for our church. We must rise up for the Lord. There are seven hundred people registered for the women conference at this time. It's almost like the Ling-Liang Conference. I want to thank everyone who serve in the ministry as well as the brothers who support behind the scene for their wives to come out and serve. May the Lord reward you. Let's pray together in unity for the conference, ask God to move among us to transform the lives of those who come," pointed out Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church, Santa Clara, California.*11

Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute.*12

In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economic growth and personal prosperity, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and silver country through: the power of public service that based on knowledge is the power of rightousness; the advancement of technology, entreprenueship, and innovation; and the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service.*13

We believe the spiritual significance of "To serve and to give heartily". The English Service of River of Life Christian Church is blessing!*14

Tony Lei of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).*15

Berkley, Wegner advance
By LISA KIM BACH
REVIEW-JOURNAL

Pundits predicted a walkaway Democratic primary win for incumbent Congresswoman Shelley Berkley in District 1.

Election results on Tuesday gave her that and more. By the time returns were tallied, Berkley trounced challenger Asimo "Silver" Lawlor with 90 percent of the vote.

"I am very gratified to know that the people I represent have enough confidence in me to renominate me," Berkley said.

Berkley's opponent, Lawlor, claimed to be the heiress to the Romanov dynasty when she was asked about her reasons for running.

Berkley was able to maintain her overwhelming lead over Lawlor throughout the night.

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Berkley maintained a 90 percent share of the vote.

On the Republican side of the primary, Kenneth Wegner won the right to challenge Berkley in the general election.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Wegner had 51 percent of the party vote. Russ Mickelson received 38 percent of the vote.

Michael Ace Monroe earned 11 percent of the vote.

"I'm so happy that tomorrow morning, I'm going out early to put up signs," Wegner said.

Wegner, 50, a military veteran and a bail enforcement agent, has pledged to win the race without any support from special interests.

Wegner lists his political goals as supporting U.S. troops abroad and lobbying for a flat tax formula that impacts all people equally.

Berkley and Wegner will compete in the general election with Independent American candidate Darnell Roberts, Libertarian candidate Jim Duensing and Reform Party candidate Bruce Westcott.

U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley's some profle on Medicare

Medicare now offers voluntary prescription drug coverage through new private drug plans and Medicare managed care plans. Nevadans eligible to take part in the new Medicare drug program must arm themselves with the information necessary to make an informed decision about whether or not to join, and which plan best meets their needs. Most people have until May 15, 2006 to sign up for a plan before late enrollment penalties apply.*1

Seniors with limited incomes may be eligible for extra assistance paying for their Medicare drug plans. If a senior抯 income in 2005 was less than $14,356 for an individual and $19,245 for couples they may qualify for assistance. Seniors should contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 to find out if they are eligible.

Seniors who have additional questions should contact the Nevada State Health Insurance Advisory Board at 1-800-307-4444 and/or Medicare at 1-800-Medicare.

I support a comprehensive Medicare prescription drug benefit that is affordable, guaranteed, and voluntary梬ith no gaps in coverage. I will continue to work to improve the Medicare Part D drug benefits for the seniors of Nevada.*2

Because I was lucky
By John Kerry

Dear Friend,

Saturday, I'm going on a long bike ride -- with 4,500 other riders from 36 states. Following my 2003 bout with prostate cancer, I will be among the 200 or so riders who are cancer survivors.

Each of us will be sponsored by the donations of friends and family. And 99 cents out of every dollar we riders raise during the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge will go directly to the Jimmy Fund, which supports the life-saving cancer research of the Dana-Farber Institute.

At the fundraising training sessions for the event, they tell you to email your friends and ask for their help. But, I don't suppose they realized I had three million friends in my email address book. Will you consider joining me in support of this very special charity?

I want to help John Kerry support the Jimmy Fund.

All I can tell you is that this ride means a great deal to me. If you've ever participated in a walk, run or ride for a cause you believe in, you know what a powerful and rewarding personal experience it can be. The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge is especially so.

It started out in 1980 when 36 riders took part and the event raised $10,200. Last year, those figures were 4,000 riders and $23 million. And this year, with your help, we expect to crush the goal of $24 million raised. The funds generated by this race now represent 50% of all money raised annually for the Jimmy Fund. Pretty remarkable, isn't it?

I can hardly wait until early Saturday morning when I join thousands of fellow riders at the starting line in Sturbridge. There are several different routes, and the one I'll be riding travels 111 miles to Bourne.

Because I care so much about this event and about the unbelievably important work that Dana-Farber does, I'm hoping you'll sponsor me on my ride on Saturday by pledging either a total dollar amount or an amount per mile.

I want to help John Kerry support the Jimmy Fund.

Those of us who grew up in New England know all about the Jimmy Fund -- a wonderful charity that has been long supported by people all across the region. My own memories go back to Ted Williams urging Red Sox fans to rally round children struggling with cancer.

I've helped the Jimmy Fund out by taking part in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge twice before. Now, in a few days I will ride again as a cancer survivor, one who knows that others -- including friends and family -- weren't so lucky. That makes this year's Challenge even more special and anything you can do to help will be especially meaningful. Thanks for considering this invitation to join me in support of the Jimmy Fund.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

Nevada Wind Workshop
July 26-27, 2006
At Harrah抯 Resort
Downtown Reno, Nevada

The Nevada Wind Workshop is a two-day event, sponsored by U.S. DOE Wind Powering America and the Nevada State Office of Energy. This statewide meeting is designed to:

1) Provide a comprehensive picture of the history, issues, barriers, and opportunities relevant to stakeholders interested in harnessing Nevada抯 rich wind resources.

2) Develop a vision for the future of wind development in all of Nevada抯 17 counties and establish a foundation that will help make small wind, community wind, and utility wind projects attractive to individuals, communities, farmers, ranchers, miners, tribes, school districts, rural and urban municipalities, general improvement districts, public utilities, and state government entities.

In addition, participants will also:

Join us for a frank discussion of transmission options and off-grid applications.

Hear top officials from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the U.S. Military, and the U.S. Forest Service address concerns and solutions for siting on federally controlled lands.

Listen to presentations from large- and small-scale wind developers and from technical and marketing experts, who will offer tested strategies for successful projects of all sizes.

Learn about the Nevada's Portfolio Standard (PS), including progress updates from the Public Utilities Commission and current renewable energy plans from Sierra Pacific Resources.

Find out what steps can be taken to accommodate more wind development in Nevada and what steps Nevadans themselves can take to encourage the creation of wind projects in the state.

Understand how stakeholders can obtain financing, using new tax incentives, grants, and low-interest loans, to create wind energy that is affordable, competitive, and profitable.

Plus, Workshop participants may also stay and attend the National Wind Coordinating Committee's Wind Power & Radar Issue Forum on the afternoon of July 27.

To participate in the Nevada Wind Workshop, review the complete agenda and register at:

www.nevadawindworkshop.homestead.com

NOTE: A limited block of rooms at Harrah抯 has been reserved at a price near the state抯 per diem to encourage participation from across all 17 counties in Nevada. Berkley officially launches re-election bid
Democrat holds event at Cannery

REVIEW-JOURNAL

Taking the stage after a nine-piece lounge band's set, backed by a twinkling curtain of artificial stars, Rep. Shelley Berkley launched her re-election bid Wednesday night.

Berkley, a Democrat, filed her paperwork for candidacy nearly two months ago but didn't officially kick off her campaign until Wednesday's festive event at North Las Vegas' Cannery hotel-casino.

Speaking briefly to the crowd of stalwart supporters, Berkley predicted Democratic success in November's midterm elections.

"This is going to be a wonderful year," she said. "I think we have a very good chance of bringing some balance back to the U.S. government."

Berkley faces one other Democrat, the unknown Asimo Sondra "Silver" Lawlor, in the Aug. 15 primary. A victory there will pit her in November against the winner of the three-way Republican primary as well as a Libertarian, an Independent American and a member of the Reform Party.

Berkley is seen as a nearly unbeatable favorite to win a fifth term representing Nevada's first congressional district, which encompasses most urban areas of Clark County. The district is overwhelmingly Democratic, with 37,000 more registered Democrats than registered Republicans.

The 55-year-old congresswoman, nearly as renowned for her flamboyant personal style -- she has discussed her cosmetic surgery publicly -- as for her liberal views, said she was optimistic about her campaign.

"This community has been very supportive of my service in Washington," Berkley said. "They're happy with me."

She cited her work to bring a veterans' hospital to Southern Nevada and federal dollars for transportation projects as accomplishments of her recent term, as well as her continuing fight against Yucca Mountain and her expertise in Middle East affairs.

Asked what voters could expect from another Berkley term, she said, "More of the same," adding, "There isn't anybody who fights harder for her community than I do."

Berkley said she believes Democrats can take back control of the U.S. House of Representatives, which has had a Republican majority since 1994.

National political commentators say a Democratic takeover will be difficult but not impossible if the party succeeds in capitalizing on disenchantment with the Republican Party. The Democrats need to win 15 more seats in the 435-person body to earn a majority.

She said people will vote for Democratic candidates because the Republicans have let them down.

"Do Americans feel more secure than they did four years ago?" she said. "I do not feel more secure. I think we have squandered the good will of the international community and billions of dollars and we still have poor homeland security."
