The following is a collection by the Office of U. S. Senator Harry Reid in the Senate at Washington D. C.:*2

* Eighty-seven percent of Nevada land is managed by the federal government.

* Area 51, a top secret area of Nellis Air Force Range and Nuclear Test Site, is rumored to have housed the development of the first Stealth bomber and alien and UFO research facilities.

* Nevada is the seventh largest state in size.

* The nation's largest silver deposit, the Comstock Lode, was found in Nevada in 1859.

* Nevada is the driest state in the nation with an average annual rainfall of seven inches.

* Nevada has the only complete skeleton of an Ichthyosaur, an extinct marine reptile measuring 55 feet.

* Nevada is the largest gold-producing state in the U.S. and third in the world behind South Africa and Australia.

* Gambling was reinstated in the State in 1931.

* Hoover Dam is the largest public works project ever undertaken in the U.S. and has a greater structural volume than the largest Egyptian pyramid.

* Virginia City, founded when the Comstock Lode was discovered, was home to 20,000 people at its peak in 1870. Now only about 800 people live in this modern ghost town.

Governor Kenny Guinn of Nevada expressed that he can not overemphasize the significance and importance of bringing attention to all the attractions to Nevada at a time when it faces unprecedented competition for gaming customers. He believes that we are wise to expand our marketing efforts and focus on developing markets in places such as Asia. It is significant for him to point out that in addition to gaming, Nevada has phenomenal cultural, historic, and recreational resources that we must continue to promote. The Governor emphasizes that for our state's economy to thrive, all of the Silver State's tourism opportunities must be effectively marketed to both domestic and international visitors.*4

U.S. Senator John Ensign's great-grandfather first came to Nevada almost a hundred years ago as a miner and labored in its towns. This respectable man worked hard to provide for his family and taught his children the value of hard work, integrity, and independence. "The significance of life is to build and educate the continuous lives of the universe," said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). People came to America to seek the American dream. Even though not all of them realize their American dream, eventually they could teach and help their children accomplish their contributions to our country.*5

On October 22, 2000, U.S. Senator Harry Reid received the "Outstanding Democrat of the Decade" 1990's Award from the Paradise Democratic Club of Las Vegas (PDCLV) at the Skyview Room of the Bally's Casino and Hotel, Las Vegas. In the Program, the National Anthem was sung by Rose McKinny James. The Keynote Speaker was Senator Harry Reid. The heightlight of the Event was the presentation of the Outstanding Democrat of the Year Award to U.S. Senator Harry Reid by the President of PDCLV, John Ponticello.*6

Senator Reid graduated from Utah State University in 1961. He received Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University. In 1968, he was elected to Nevada State Assembly at the age of 28. After two years, he was elected as Nevada's youngest legislation in the state's history. In 1977, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission. In 1983, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. After having served two terms in the House, he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1980. On April 10, 1998, he was honored as Advisor and Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). In December of 1998, after returning for his third term in the U.S. Senate, he was unanimously elected by his Democratic colleagues to serve as the Assistant Minority Leader.

"Senator Reid loves heartily this country and our people. His leadership is accentuated with practical knowledge and deligent effort through his intelligence. He has achieved many years accomplishments to improve the quality of life of all Nevadans and help people realize the American Dream, " said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI), who was invited with his wife as guests to the Event by Congresswomen Shelley Berkley, County Commissioner Yvonne Atkinson Gates, and former Las Vegas City Mayor Jan Laverty Jones.

Senator Reid comes from Searchlight, Nevada, where in that rural mining town he learned the fundamental values of hard work and honesty that endure as his guiding principles. The Nevada's senior Senator was raised in a small cabin without indoor pluming and attended a two-room elementary school. His father was a hardrock miner with an 8th grade education, and his mother never finished high school, but the youngest of Harry and Inez Reid's four sons would go on to achieve the American dream. "Harry is now not just our senior Senator of Nevada in the Senate, he's one of the influential and important U. S. Senator for all our country in Washington, D. C.!" the Honorable U.S. Senator Richard Bryan pointed out during his short speech to the great awarding Event of the Club. "Senator Reid deserves special recognition for his continued leadership to the Democratic Party here in Nevada. His commitment to public service and distinguished record of fighting for the values we hold so dear has touched the lives of many in Nevada and across the country," wrote U.S. President Candidate and Vice President Al Gore. The distinguished accomplishments of Senator Reid has given he himself for us a successful model for people who wish to realize their American Dream.

The maturity of citizens society is the fundamental guarantee for the normal processing of a democratic community. In a citizens society, it depends highly on the team of public intellectuals to integrate people's opinions, to analyze rationally, and to point out wise persperctives and notice. A public intellectual plays an important and significant responsibility of mission to evaluate public activities, to reflect people's opinion, to lead citizens, and to predict crisis. Public opinion is therefore made through the effort of the public intellectuals by their wise investigation to the people's mind and willingness, and by their right understancing and analysis toward the facts. U.S. Americans W. Lippmann and J. Raston, German E. Noalle-Neumann are ideal representatives of such kind of persons as of the public intellectual. Community service is important to our people and society, moreover we wish individuals as our public intellectual may also encourage more volunteers, events, and projects to better the quality of life of all our residents and visitors of Nevadan through community participation.*7

GOV. GUINN APPOINTS JOHN T. MORAN JR.
TO GAMING COMMISSION

CARSON CITY - Gov. Kenny Guinn today announced the appointment of John T. Moran Jr. of Las Vegas to the Gaming Commission. Moran, a member of the Board of Wildlife Commissioners, will be resigning from that commission effective July 26 to begin his new position on the Gaming Commission.*2

Moran's term on the Gaming Commission will run from July 26 through April 27, 2008. He replaces Augustine Gurrola, who is retiring. Moran, 57, will earn $40,000 annually.

¡§John Moran has been an excellent member of the Wildlife Commission, and I look forward to his addition to the Gaming Commission,¡¨ Gov. Guinn said. ¡§He is a person of great integrity. As one of our state¡¦s finest attorneys, he has a level of understanding and sophistication regarding the gaming industry that will serve the citizens of Nevada very well.¡¨

Moran, a Las Vegas attorney for more than 25 years and founding partner of the law firm of Moran & Associates, is a 1971 graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is a former chairman of the Wildlife Commission as well as a former chairman of the Colorado River Commission.

¡§I'm very pleased that the Governor has confidence in me to continue to uphold the Gaming Commission¡¦s excellent reputation,¡¨ Moran said. ¡§I'm elated to serve on the Gaming Commission. This will be my third commission for the State of Nevada, and I'm going to work extremely hard to sustain the integrity that the people of our state have always expected of their Gaming Commission.¡¨

The Gaming Commission, created through NRS 463.022, consists of five members appointed by the Governor. Each member is appointed to a four-year term. The commission is responsible for making final decisions on gaming licenses, ruling on disciplinary and other complaints within the industry, adopting regulations which govern gaming operations, and developing gaming policies consistent with Legislative directives.*3

Indeed, business achievement is the new yardstick of success in today's society. Therefore, business has become not only the fastest growing major in undergraduate institutions but also in graduate school of famous universities, nationally and internationally. The emphasis of the online communication skills and the quantitative analysis techniques with computers is one of the most important study for the art of success to the business students, professionals, executives, and owners.

In many ways, business school is at the center of this cultural phenomenon. For some, the business school is the passport to the boardroom, the ticket to the top of the corporate ladder. these schools, nationally and internationally, pump out the new generation of business leaders by hundreds of thousands. "They are the pipeline of raw material with which the nation's --- and the world's --- leading business build the future. And MBAs are not limited to the traditional corporate world: From Wall Street to Madison Avenue, from Sand Hill Road to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, today's MBAs lead organizations large and small, in every conceivable industry. They are the executives and entrepreneurs who power the economy."*2

"UNLESS YOU'VE BEEN LIVING IN A CAVE, you've seen enormous changes in communications technology over the past two decades. From orbiting satellites routing long distance phone calls to email to undreamed-of growth of the Internet, the age of communicating online, using computers and networks, is upon us all," stated at the first paragraphy of the 'Introduction' of the book, "How to say it online: everything you need to know to master the new language of cyberspac," written by Kim Baker and Sunny Baker.*3

"And what could be better news? To keep in touch, there's nothing faster or cheaper than email. To gain access to information and people, the power of online communication expands your reach from the local to the global. To meet new friends and even romance a potential life partner, online venues provide rich opportunities (if you know the right things to say and the best way to say them). At school, the Internet places volumes of knowledge on ever subject at your fingertips, and at work, computer networks make business communication more efficient than ever."*4

Whether you are in business or in non-profit organization, you need to have a Web site. This seems to be a common wisdom in now-a-days. Think seriously about the needs of your market before you go onto the Web to make more money for business, to develop better non-profit organization, or to contribute to more community service. "It's hard to believe that Fred's Service Station really needs a Web Site to reap new profits. However, for some businesses and professional service firms, the Internet and web to gether offer viable marketing and distribution opportunities. Software companies, online magazines, and email order businesses can do quite well from the Web --- if the owners know how to say the right things on their sites. The Secrets of a Successful Web Site: Just having a site on the Web will do almost nothing to sell your products or services. To promote your Web site, there are three things you must do: (1). You must register your Web site with the best search engines. (2). You should consider using the many free and not free advertising opportunities on the Web. (3) You should search the Web regularly for competitive and related sites, where you can attach a link to your site."*5 To be more successful for your Web site, you need to be favored by the famous search engine services like Yahoo! (www.yahoo.com), Aol! (www.aol.com), Google! (www.google.com), Infoseek! (www.infoseek.com), among others.

"There is no longer any such thing as a purely national economy. The rest of the world is just too big to ignore, either as a market or as a competitor. If business schools do nothing other than to train their students to think internationally, they would have accomplished an important task," said John Young, CEO, Hewlett-Packard.*6

Innovation is the key to success, managers are looking everywhere in the global organization for new ideas. Modern companies would view Information technology (IT) as a major competitive differentiator. Strategic businesses emphazise the ueses of information technology for management. International companies develop their global IT platforms by integrating worldwide hardware, software, and Internet-based network architecture. Commuunication technology, for example the teleconferencing and computer networks, is making it possible for people from subsidiaries around the world to work together on project.

Many business are becoming global companies and moving toward transnational e-business strategies in which they integrate the global business activities of their subsidiaries and headquarters. The international dimemsions of managing global e-business technologies include dealing with cultural, political, and geoeconomic challenges posed by various countries for global marketplace. The e-business technologies are changing the distribution, relatonships, resources, and responsibilities of managers. Information Technology is helping managers of e-business to eliminate layers of amangement, enabling more collaborative forms of management, providing them with significant information technology resources, and confront them with major e-business and e-commerce challenge.

They were created by the Computer Ethics Institute: (1). Thou shalt not use a computer to harm other people. (2). Thou shalt not interfere with other people's computer work. (3). Thou shalt not snoop around in other people's files. (4). Thou shalt not use a computer to steal. (5). Thou shalt not use a computer to bear false witness. (6). Thou shalt not use or copy softwear for which you have not paid. (7). Thou shalt not use other people's computer resources without authorization. (8). Thou shalt not appropriate other people's intellectual output. (9). Thou shalt think about the social consequences of the program you write. (10). Thou shalt use a computer in ways that show consideration and respect.

A sucessful businessperson always know the old rule that says "It's easier to keep an existing customer than to find a new one." In online customer relationships, this rule is just as important. Your goal should not only to get new visitors, but to cultivate your customer base to yield repeat sales, services, and referrals from satisfied purchasers, clients, and patronagers. "Besides a good product or service, there are only three things you need for successful online customer relations: strong communication, common courtesy, and exemplary customer service. Unfortunately, these old-fashioned values are often missing in many companies' online promotional communication." *9

At the invitation of the Chinese Ministry of Labor and Social Security, U. S. Secretary of Labor, Ms. Elaine Chao, visited China from June 21 to 24 in 2004. The U. S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao said in Beijing on Thursday, June 24, 2004 that her visit to China was fruitful.

"Chao signed four agreements during her trip to enhance cooperation in raising the living standard and working conditions for employees. She also announced the US would donate 3.5 million US dollars to China to help combat AIDS through workplace education program," reported the Xinhua News Agency on Thursday, June 24, 2004.*12

"She hoped through exchanging information, the two sides can raise living standards for workers, foster safe working environment for workers, and protect workers' rights in accordance with relevant international labor principles while respecting the national laws of both the United States and China," the Agency continued.*13

U. S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao received her B. A. degree in Economics with straight A's for all her four years at the famous Mount Holyoke College in New England. She obtained her M. B. A. degree from Harvard University in 1979. She also studied at M.I.T., Dartmouth College, and Columbia University.

At the time she was nominated by President Bush as the Secretary of Labor, she told her father that she does not intend to be an "Authoritative Official". She hoped that she could contribute to our society and nation.*14

Secretary Chao has received numerous awards for her professional accomplishments and community service. She is the recipient of 21 honorary doctoral degrees from colleges and universities around the world.

Secretary Chao is married to the Majority Whip of the United States Senate, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

"Elaine L. Chao is the nation's 24th Secretary of Labor, representing a new generation of American leadership. Since her confirmation by the United States Senate on January 29, 2001, she has been dedicated to carrying out the Department of Labor's mission of inspiring and protecting the hardworking people of America. She is respected as an effective and articulate champion of the nation's contemporary workforce, acting quickly to focus the Labor Department on the modern realities of workers' lives." *15

"When President George W. Bush nominated Elaine L. Chao, the first Asian-American woman appointed to a President's cabinet in U.S. history, he described her as an individual with “sstrong executive talent, compassion, and commitment to helping people build better lives."

According to the U. S. Department of Labor, Secretary Elaine Chao's compassionate nature stems from her own background as an immigrant to this country at the age of eight. Her family's experience transitioning to a new country, supported by one another and the kindness of friends and neighbors, taught her that encouragement is the key to fostering independence, and that Americans are naturally compassionate people. This inspired her to dedicate most of her professional life to ensuring that people have the opportunity to pursue lives of dignity and financial independence.

As Director of the Peace Corps, Ms. Elaine Chao was one of the first Americans to personally embrace the people of the former communist bloc into the family of democratic nations, establishing Peace Corps programs in the Baltic nations of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and the newly independent states of the former Soviet Union. Later, as President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of America, she restored public trust and confidence after the organization was tarnished by mismanagement and financial abuse, thus preserving the nation's largest institution of private charitable giving.

The experience Ms. Elaine Chao gained at the United Way helping communities address their local needs prepared her to mobilize the Department of Labor to promote pathways to economic freedom for individuals and families working to achieve the American Dream. She describes her vision for America's workforce as “oone in which everyone can participate where jobs and opportunities are available for those leaving welfare, job training is accessible for those left behind, disability never bars a qualified person from the workplace, and where parents have an easier time balancing the responsibilities of work and home.

"Secretary Chao's previous government career includes serving as the Deputy Secretary at the U.S. Department of Transportation, Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, and Deputy Maritime Administrator in the U.S. Department of Transportation. She brings a wealth of business experience to the post, having worked as Vice President of Syndications at BankAmerica Capital Markets Group and a banker with Citicorp. Prior to her nomination as Secretary, she expanded her study of policy as a Distinguished Fellow at The Heritage Foundation, a Washington-based public policy research and educational institute. She was selected as a White House Fellow in 1983," states the Department.*16

"With the excellency of knowledge, humanity, and patriotism inspired by Elaine Chao, Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) has continued its many years effort to community service and spiritual belief. Nevada is honor to have WBTI under her spiritual Chairpersonship and I am especially honor to be a M.I.S. Manager of the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration of WBTI," humble as he is, River Sun chatted excitedly during the celebration dinner party at the Gee Joon Chinese Restaurant of Horseshoe Club. The Moon Festival of Midautumn has been many thousand years celebrated as a day for patriotism by the Chinese people in the Far East and Southeastern Asia. The party was held by WBTI in Las Vegas on September 11, 2003.

Following the inspiration of the past many years of the accomplishment of Ms. Elaine Chao's contribution of humane spirit to our society, we have the persistense of Wou Shien's spirit for education here in America. If a coolie and hard woker like him could dedicate to eduction by offering all his income and life to build a school for children in his village, what should not for us to offer our efforts for our community? *17

"The mission of this School [Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI)] will emphasize the humanitarian orientation of public administration and the social responsibility of business management. Through academic entrepreneurship, we may expect the endeavor of this School for the community service based on humane spirit, led by Chairperson Elaine Chao of WBTI," said Dr. Dina Titus, Adjunct Professor of Administrative Strategies in GSBPA.*17 Nina Titus was born May 23, 1950 in Thomasville, Georgia. She graduated from College of William and Mary with A.B.. She received her M. A. and Ph. D. degrees from University of Georgia and Florida State University, respectively. She is a Senator and Minority Floor Leader of Nevada Senate. Dina is also a professor of Political Science in UNLV.*18

Global Alumni Reunion of Tunghai University supports the endeavor of cooperation and development of tourism among Asian markets by Governor Kenny Guinn and Lt. Governor Lorriane Hunt of Nevada, U. S. A.

People are interested in seeing programs cooperated by Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Mangement, Tunghai University Alumni Association, and WBTI that will enhance the multual cooperation in tourism, investment, trade, and global business among China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Nevada*2

Governor Kenny Guinn of Nevada reminds us that tourism is the bedrock of Nevada's economy. To expand and diversify our domestic and international markets are absolutely essential to our long-term economic growth and stability.*3

The annual "Governor's Conference on Tourism" was held by Governor Kenny Guinn of Nevada at Caesears Palace on December 15-17, 2003. He joined the members of the Commission on Tourism to examine the latest tourism industry issue and trends. The theme was "Celebrating Deversity". It was chosen to draw attention to Nevada's efforts to broaden both its tourism product and market. The Conference on December 15-17 was held in celebrating the diversity that would make the Silver State a perennial leader in worldwide tourism.

Governor Kenny Guinn and Lt. Govenor Lorraine Hunt said that Nevada's tourism industry must continue to expand its offerings and reach out to diverse markets that range from outdoor enthusiasts to residents of the world's most populous nation. Speaking at the general session of the Governor's Conference on Tourism at Caesars Palace, he and she each praised Nevada's continuing efforts to supplement its gaming-based core with non-gaming amenities such as shopping, dinning, and outdoor recreation.*4

"I can't overstate the significance of China's potential as a visitor market for Nevada," Lt. Governor Hunt said. "I found modern cities rife with elements of Western culture such as Starbucks Coffee, MTV, the Rat Pack-era music of Frank Sinatra, etc. Up to 10 percent of the country's approximately 1.4 billion residents can now afford to travel overseas, which has positioned China as Nevada's "newest and most-modern market" for tourism."

Governor Guinn expresses that he can not overemphasize the significance and importance of bringing attention to all the attractions to Nevada at a time when it faces unprecedented competition for gaming customers. He believes that we are wise to expand our marketing efforts and focus on developing markets in places such as Asia. It is significant for him to point out that in addition to gaming, Nevada has phenomenal cultural, historic, and recreational resources that we must continue to promote. The Governor emphasizes that for our state's economy to thrive, all of the Silver State's tourism opportunities must be effectively marketed to both domestic and international visitors.*5

Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt points out that she sees the will in the Chinese people and elected officials to make more opportunities and conviences for them to travel America. "They know they want to participate in the world economy," said the Lt. Governor.*6

On May 18, 2000 Lt. Governor Lorriane Hunt of Nevada lead (led) a delegation from Nevada to Taipei of the Republic of China. "This is important to Nevada in areas beyond just our tourism industry. Taiwan enjoys a growing economy with considerable technological advancement and as such, they are one of the world's top 15 trading nations. And with Nevada's total exports exceeding one billion dollars in 1999 alone, our local businesses stand to benefit as the Taiwanese market continues to prosper and expand," Lt. Governor of Nevada Hunt pointed out in Taipei.*7

"The Nevada Commission on Tourism believes it is vital to establish a presence in Taiwan in order to represent our tourism destinations to this emerging world travel market. Taiwan's capital, Taipei, has a working population of four million, with a youthful, technologically oriented work force. There is tremendous potential for building tourism among this sector," said Hunt.*8

"Similar to the new direction of the government in Taiwan, we are seeking new horizons for the economy of Nevada. Building mutally beneficial relationships with Taiwan, and other foreign countries, will create the demand for direct, regularly scheduled flights. Our work will help Nevada establish contacts for lucrative business and convention visitors from around the world that will form the foundation for a new pillar in the Nevada economy."*9

Las Vegas, Nevada, and Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) extend their heartily welcome to the business, tourism, and investment from Asian countires to boom the tourism and ecomomy of this silver state.

We have learned you are organizing a reunion for the classes 59', 60' and 61' of Tunghai. We, class 60', are having our 8th reunion in 2005 (07/30-08/05 2005) at Las Vegas. Three days at LV and four days to the National Parks. We have reunion every 2 years since 1990. Last one we went to Vancouver and Canadian Rockies in 2003, and we usually have about 45 people. This time, we choose LV, because we like to have more classmates to join us, especially, those from Taiwan.
It's very nice of you to suggest such a reunion. We really enjoy ours immensely.
