07/31/2009 Prayer Journal -Mike Dear Heavenly Father,Thank You for bringing me back from the mission trip. Hallelujah! I see so many fruits there. I see the fruits of the labors of the parents, pastors, and coworkers at church to build into the lives of the youths. Their spiritual maturity is Your blessing and grace. May You continue to build up the youths to grow in maturity and love for You and for others. May they become the home missionaries, which is the purpose of this mission trip boot-camp. Thank You for showing me the purpose of the adults on the trip is to help the youths take the responsibilities such as doing the cleaning. May the youths continue to do these things at church. =) May You help me continue to serve You while I’m working here. May You open up ministry opportunities for me. I hope I can be like the apostle Paul, being a tentmaker and doing the work of building up Your body wherever I am. Thank You for my work here and for the church here. Bless CCC! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Published in: Mike H. Lei, Editor on July 31, 2009 at 8:39 am Leave a Comment 07/09/2009 Prayer Journal Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for this past weekend I can go camping with the small group. It was a spectacular hike to the top of Vernon Falls. When we arrived at Yosemite, we asked a guy how to get to the hiking trail at stop 16. He told us to get on the bus and get off at stop 4 and cross the street to stop 9 to catch another bus. But, while on the bus, the bus driver told us it’s faster to get off the bus and walk across to stop 10. Our group leader didn’t agree, but we all decided to listen to the bus driver and got off the bus. However, we couldn’t get on the bus at stop 10 because the bus was always full. We waited and waited. Finally we decide to go back to the original stop, but ran back when we saw an empty bus coming. Then, we found out we had gotten on the same bus we got off. I told the group leader it’s like we all rebelled and didn’t listen to Moses and had to wander in the wilderness for 40 years before getting back to the starting point. After the hike we waited for the bus back. But we noticed so many people at the bus stop and more and more people coming to the bus stop. We waited and didn’t see any bus coming. We figured we don’t have a chance to get on the bus even if it comes. Again, the group asked the group leader to give up waiting and walk to the next stop. After we started walking to the next stop, we saw bus after bus coming, and at least 2 empty buses. I told the leader now this is like Aaron listening to the people and making the golden calves. Thank You Lord for the fun and learning experiences. May You continue to bless my journey and help me listen to the spiritual leaders You put in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. I learned that the breakthrough happens when we don’t give up until it happens. It’s so simple, yet it’s profound. Also, I am reminded to fervently pray despite the situation. You reminded me of the joy of my salvation. May You continue to restore the joy of my salvation and my strength. May You bless this weekend trip as I join the small group on a camping trip to Yosemite. May You prepare me for the mission trip coming up. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Published in: Mike H. About Ike, what we can do for Him? Most are still without power and the forecast is that that could go on for weeks. We want to request that all of our churches be in prayer for those affected by the storms and we want you to have access to information about ways BGCT churches and organizations are assisting with this disaster in our state. ~{DzH+2?V*5@Wnaa~}週~{D)~}為~{DG~}麼許~{6`JG~}毀滅~{5DTZNR~}們~{5D~}狀態~{:MG,~}淨~{5D:M;V~}復~{V;~}開~{JThe BGCT has been involved all weekend by providing meals for many who evacuated due to Ike. TBM reported that 62,677 meals were served over the weekend. Over 519 volunteers are currently involved, with many more expected to join the effort. Many of the TBM units have been deployed this morning to various areas affected by the storm to begin serving meals and provide hot showers for relief workers. Sunday, 20-Dec-2009 WEATHERIZATION PROJECT: Nevada behind schedule in spending stimulus funds Nevada has some catching up to do if it hopes to make full use of millions in federal stimulus dollars aimed at making homes more energy efficient and creating green jobs. ... Of the $18.6 million in Recovery Act funds available to Nevada for residential weatherization projects, only $607,000 had been spent retrofitting about a hundred homes by the end of last month. ... The slow start is a consequence of earlier disputes at the national and state level over distribution of weatherization grants. The violations stem from allegations that Ross' dual jobs as a union group officer and city councilmember present a conflict of interest. Ross will stay in office as city councilmember and he will not face any fines. Instead, the commission told him that from now on he needs to act cautiously in matters relating to both of his jobs. The violations relate to how Ross voted on the building of the new Las Vegas city hall. After two days of testimony, the commission ruled Ross violated ethics rules on three of seven allegations. It felt Ross should have either disclosed his Trades Council position or abstained from voting in three city hall votes. It's important to note that because Ross testified he was acting on advice from his legal counsel, the commission found he did not violate the rules willfully, meaning he didn't do so intentionally. Ross says he respects the commission's decision but does not agree with it. "I do have a day job; we are part time city council (members). Many of my colleagues have part time jobs as well, full time jobs being a city council member. So it's no different from the rest of them, they take those hats off as well. So I just happen to be involved with the construction industry." Ross will keep both of his jobs and he will not face any fines. Ross can choose to appeal the commission's decision. He has 30 days to file an appeal. He can also ask for a judiciary review of the decision. Comments Terms of Use: We welcome your participation in our community. His comments Friday followed a report in the London Daily Telegraph that unidentified Taiwanese companies supplied Iran's Ministry of Defense with 100 pressure transducers, which can be used in the production of weapons-grade uranium. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to make public statements to the media. The Daily Telegraph report, which cited unspecified Western intelligence sources, said Iranian officials have held meetings with Taiwan-based companies to buy hundreds of pressure transducers, and that 100 had already been shipped to Iran. It said the transducers were manufactured in Europe, acquired by the Taiwanese companies, and then sent to Iran in an effort to foil a growing international effort to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Pressure transducers convert pressure into analog electrical signals. They have many commercial uses, but also are a vital component in the production of weapons-grade uranium because of the need for precise measurements. Iran is banned from buying them on the open market by the Nuclear Suppliers Group, an international body established to limit nuclear proliferation by controlling the export of materials that can be used in building atomic weapons. The U.S. and its allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons secretly under the guise of a civilian atomic energy program, but Tehran insists its efforts are aimed only at generating electricity. The Bureau of Foreign Trade official did not say why the investigation into the Daily Telegraph report had been launched. However, a Taipei-based foreign diplomat said it had been ordered by National Security Council chief Su Chi. The diplomat spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information. Presidential Office spokesman Wang Yu-chi declined to comment on the matter, saying it was not being handled by his office. Su Chi works directly for President Ma Ying-jeou. Despite shifting its diplomatic recognition from Taipei to Beijing in 1979, the United States remains Taiwan's most important foreign partner, supplying the island with the vast majority of its imported weapons systems. Confirmation that Taiwanese companies sold nuclear-weapons-related equipment to Iran would almost certainly provoke a strongly negative American reaction, and could undermine long-standing trust between the sides. A spokesman for the American Institute in Taiwan — the de facto U.S. embassy on the island — declined to say whether American diplomats had approached their Taiwanese counterparts to discuss the report. Earlier this year, a Canadian citizen of Iranian descent was arrested on charges he tried to procure and export pressure transducers to his native country.
