"Through the recommendations by our faculty members including Nevada District Judges Mark Denton and Valorie Vega, Dr. Michael Douglas has been appointed as an Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration by Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) on February 3, 2005," announced Dr. John Wang, Spokesman of WBTI, on Monday, February 7, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada, U. S. A.*1
"It's really my pleasure and honor to be named as an Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration of WBTI. WBTI has a good reputation with its Advisory Board and faculty members. The Board has Governor Kenny Guinn as its Chairman; U. S. Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign as Vice Chairmen; U.S. Representatives James Gibbons and Shelley Berkley, and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman as Executive Directors. With the excellent and informative publications of 'Reviewjournal.com,' 'Next Weekly,' and among others, high-ranking officials of Nevada have been inspired to help realize the creed for community service and humane spirit of WBTI," expressed Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court Michael Douglas at the Event and Dinner Party in the Emperor's Garden Restaurant on February 4, 2005 in Las Vegas. It was held by the Committee to implement the ART EXHIBIT of Mr. QIN QUAN XIONG.
Justice Michael Douglas, the first African American justice in Nevada抯 history, was appointed to the Court in March 2004 to fill the vacancy that resulted from the death of Justice Myron E. Leavitt. Justice Douglas抯 appointment to the Supreme Court is the culmination of a 22-year legal career in Nevada that began by chance when he accepted what he thought was going to be a temporary job with Nevada Legal Services.*2 Michael was elected in November 2, 2004 as Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court.
Justice Douglas, a native of Los Angeles, came to Las Vegas in 1982 from Philadelphia, Pa., where he had been working in private practice. The justice said he chose Las Vegas because he wanted to move back west and had a cousin living in the city. After two years at Nevada Legal Services, Justice Douglas was hired by the Clark County District Attorney抯 Office and served in the Civil Division until 1996. In January 1996, he was appointed to the Eighth Judicial District Court bench and was retained in the election later that year, serving until his appointment to the Supreme Court. At the District Court, he served as Business Court judge along with handling a variety of civil and criminal cases. He was elected Chief District Judge in October 2003.
A graduate of California State College, Long Beach, in 1971 and the University of California Hastings College of Law in 1974, Justice Douglas has been a member of the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada and Vice President of the Nevada District Judges Association. He is president*3 of the Nevada American Inns of Court, an organization of judges, lawyers and law students that promotes*4 excellence and civility in the legal profession.
He has been active in groups fighting domestic violence and also has served on a variety of law-related groups, including two years on the Nevada Law Foundation Board and seven years on the State Bar of Nevada, Southern Disciplinary Board.
Justice Douglas, who is married and has a daughter and two grandchildren, has been a longtime supporter of the youth in California and Las Vegas. He was a sports volunteer and coach and has been a frequent speaker at Las Vegas area schools. From 1996 to 2003, he was the judicial sponsor of the annual Spirit of the Arts Contest, a competition for student artwork emphasizing Nevada themes and spirit. Many of the winning pieces still hang in the Clark County Courthouse.*5

The above list of leaders and political officials who are involved with the Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) was announced and installed by Judge Denton at the Dinner Party held by WBTI at the Binion's Horseshoe Club on December 8, 2003 in Las Vegas.
The Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) is now one of the main institutions of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). "The mission of this School emphasizes the humanitarian orientation of public administration and the social responsibility of business management. Through academic entrepreneurship, we expect the School's endeavors to be achieved based on the human spirit, led by Chairperson Elaine Chao of WBTI," said Senator Dina Titus, Adjunct Professor of Administrative Strategies in GSBPA.
Asian Pacific American have made profound contributions to American life, including the arts, economy, education, science, technology, politics, and sport. This community was here to help build trascontinental railroad, to serve in the Civil War, and to develop the latest Internet technology. I'm pleased to assure all you leaders of the community here today that I'll continue working to preserve and advance the heritage and value of Asian Americans. I'll put my effort to reach out and address issues of importance to the Asian American community, including the economy, education, safety, racial profiling, and hate crime, and immigration, among others. I'd like also to show my appreciation of all your accomplishments and contributions to the American way of life and your oustanding participation in the political, business , and educational processes. Ms. Becky Ung (吴雷洛美) is former President and Member of the School Board for Unified School District of San Morino, California. She is a Master Trainer of PESA (Parent Expectations Support Achievement) which is a program offered through Los Angeles County Office of Education. Becky is now the Chairperson of E. Q. Research Committee (EQRC) of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).*1 吴雷洛美现为美国华盛顿工商技术研究院助理教授。
Becky is a motivational speaker, life coach, teacher and author. She is an EQ and parenting specialist as well as a business consultant.
Becky is a national and international famous Speaker in California, United States; Taipei, Taiwan; and Beijing, Shanghai, Amoy, China. She has published a numerious Vidio Tapes, feature articles, and books. Her famous book named "What you Wish is What you Get" was published by Songan Publishing Inc. in 2001 at Taipei, Taiwan. The next one of hers, "E. Q. Unlimited," was published by Franklin Publications at Taipei in the fall of 2002. She is an expert of E. Q. (Emotional Intelligence).*2

记：您曾经担任美国加州圣马力诺学区教育委员会主席，现作为美国华盛顿工商技术研究院助理教授、著名的激励演讲家，有着丰富的人生经历，能否为我们介绍一下您的工作、生活经历？
吴：人生总是有起起伏伏，我在生活中经历过很多。我和丈夫都有过一次婚姻，他有两个孩子，我有一个女儿，都是由我一手带大。在美国人的观念中，孩子放学回家，就要有父母其中的一位在陪他，他们在成长过程当中非常需要建立安全感、责任感、自信感。所以我首先做了一名全职妈妈。
后来，我想做些属于自己的事情，就利用业余时间去学校做义工，直到成为第一位家长会的华裔会长，我在这个过程当中积累了很多财富，比如领导能力、组织协调能力；交到很多朋友。之后我从学区教委做到学区主席，参加很多的讲学和研讨会，在工作生活中不断积累。一直发展得很好。
我觉得，看一个人成功与否，不要只看他现在有多大的成就，而要看他如何达到今天的地位。对于那些克服很多困难，历经很多挫折，从艰难的逆境中走出来达到成功的人，我们才会特别的佩服。
记：在沙龙的听众中，有很多人力资源领域的从业者，您能否介绍一下，在企业中，应该怎样在选择员工的时候更好的判断他的EQ能力？
吴：我认为，在面试的时候，要注意询问他对于人生一些问?獾目捶ǎ热缬龅焦罾训氖虑椋缓笤谒彩龅墓痰敝辛粢馑腔止鄣模故窍谏サ摹Ｒ源死丛げ馑诠ぷ鞯敝锌赡芑嵊械男形吞取５比徽庋牟庋榻峁皇窍喽缘模谡焦陀墩饷惫ぶ螅ㄆ诮蟹蠢　?
记：对于企业现有的专业能力很强，但沟通能力很差的员工，应该如何提高、改进他们的EQ能力？
吴：主要通过潜能发挥等一些培训课程来解决。首先要委婉的告诉员工存在沟通方面的问题，比如：你的做事能力很好，公司很幸运有你这样的员工，但是你有没有觉得……；或者，你有没有觉得跟别人的沟通有一点欠缺的地方……不要伤害到员工的自尊，他才会比较容易接受建议。然后，要让员工回想，上一次如何与别人沟通，结果是什么，如果结果很差，作为上司，要鼓励他，告诉他下次遇到类似情况应该怎样做，以便让他在事前有万全的准备，这样才能不断的改进。
记：在您的生活当中，每次遇到困难的时候都是用什么方法来激励自己的呢？
吴：我也曾教授潜能发挥这门课程，所以我非常注重活泼乐观的自我谈话。因为每天会有十万个念头经过我们的脑海，我们每天都在和自己对话。所以遇到困难时，我会认为危机即是转机，困难代表着新的机会，解决问题就能获得新的能力，这样想，我就能积极乐观的看待事情，最大限度的发挥自己的潜能。
记：您觉得，潜能发挥课程对于职场人士来说，能够带给他一些什么呢？
吴：通常来讲，人的潜能只发挥到3—7%，我们真的有太多的潜能没有发挥出来。通过潜能发挥课程，就可以明白是什么因素在妨碍人潜能的发挥。
不良的习惯、负面的态度、过低的、错误的信念、过低的期望值都会影响人潜能的发挥。而潜能发挥课程正是针对这几点，帮助职场人士养成良好的习惯，找到真正的自己，在职场竞争中有充分的信心，从而最大限度发挥自己的潜能，达到事业发展的新高度。*3

September 22, 2006 is very important. It is important because Mrs. Belinda M. Liu delivered an important and significant speech to the Women Conference. It will be held in Septmber 21-23, 2006 at River of Life Christian Church in Santa Clara, California. Mrs. Belinda M. Liu is one of the most important three Speakers.
In her speech to the Women Conference in the morning on September 22, 2006, Mrs. Belinda M. Liu dilivered an amazing testimony. "Two weeks ago in my Sunday School, I met with an elder wise man (Dr. Tony Lei). He told me that WBTI (Washington Business and Technology Institute) was interested in opening a special section for me which would emphasize the educational and spiritual value. As I read his business card, praise Lord! he's the President. I was quite excited and scared. I was worried about how to answer him appoximately. I told him that I had no formal education from a bible college. As you know I've been eager to enhance my teaching in Bible with a special website for many years. Now, an angel has been sent from God for me. Just this Monday (9/18/06), I clicked on the Section ("Belinda Liu's Spiritual World" at
http://communitylink.reviewjournal.com/lvrj/wbti) and I found a wonderful performance of my many years accomplishments with nice pictures has been implemented. Hallelujah! They will become one of the valuable collections of Washinton Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).*7

"Through the recommendations of our faculty members, including Justice of Nevada Supreme Court Michael L. Douglas, Distrct Judges Mark R. Denton and Valoria J. Vega, Las Vegas Constable Robert A. Gronauer, District Court Judge Cheryl B. Moss, Nevada Assemblywoman Chris Giunchigliani has been appointed Assistant Fellow of Public Administration Institution (PAI) and Chairperson of Community Service Council of Clark County (CSCCC) of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) on August 24, 2006." The announcement was made by Dr. John Wang, Spokesman for WBTI, on August 28, 2006, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Upon informing of its plan for her distinguished appointment from WBTI, Nevada Assemblywoman Chris Giunchigliani wrote an e-mail to President Dr. Tony Lei that, "Thanks you very much for your kindness and I am honored with your appointments." *1
"It is truly an honor to be appointed by President Dr. Tony Lei as an Assistant Fellow of Public Administration Institution and Chairperson of Community Service Council of Clark County of Washington Business and Technology Institute. As Chairperson of Community Service Council of Clark County of WBTI, I'll utilize my best efforts and wisdom to promote professionalism, enhance community relations, and to continue WBTI's mission in engaging in projects and doing great things on community service for the Clark County," said Chris.
In righteousness, the poeple who cares about community service by the time of her or his professionalsim will alway winning the support by the citizens here in Nevada. Most of the faculty members in the Public Administration Institution (PAI) have been the revelators of this special trait during their elections. Many of them won the highest votes at their judicial and political elections. In joining the Institute as a faculty member, she or he enjoys the rebounded and fruitful experience of academic research and community service. "This position (Fellow of the PAI of WBTI) will undoublely porvide me with avenues for exploring improvements in public services to which I am most dedicated," said District Judge Valorie Vega after the winning of election in 2000.*2
"As Director of Public Administration Institution (PAI), it's my privilege to share a leadership role with Dr. Tony Lei and to have wonderful cooperation of all the faculty since PAI's establishment. Innovative in integrating his expertise in institutional management and spiritual value in education, Dr. Tony Lei's wisdom and efforts towards community service and academic endeavor have been very valuable. We expect the forthcoming work performance of Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum (PPAAF) founded by this Institute to help Improve the quality of life of the people and to contribute to the peosperity of this State," Said Dr. William Thompson.*3 Bill is former Chairman and now Professor of the Department of Public Administration of UNLV.
"Chris Giunchigliani抯 life is a story of active community service, a commitment to education and children, and proven leadership. It is also a story of independence, determination and a way of life which prompted Las Vegas Life magazine to name Chris as "Best Role Model" in 2002," stated in the biography of Chris Giunchigliani. "Even her birth was a bit different than most. After her parents' marriage, the newly wed couple left for Italy for an extended visit to the senior Giunchigliani who was unable to return to America for the wedding. That抯 how Chris Giunchigliani was born on November 27, 1954 to American parents in Lucca, Italy." *4
Chris� family moved to Barrington, Illinois when Chris was a teenager. She graduated from Barrington High School in 1972. She then attended Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri. Chris worked in retail, bartended and waitressed to pay her way through college, graduating in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in special education.*5
"After teaching special education in Shawnee Mission, Kansas for two years, Chris moved to Las Vegas, and again worked her way through college, this time at UNLV, earning a master抯 degree in education with special emphasis on the emotionally disturbed. Since then Chris has compiled more than 50 additional credit hours in post-graduate work," the biography continued.
"First elected to the Nevada State Assembly in 1990, Chris served in eight regular and five special sessions. During the times the legislature was not in session, Chris continued as a special education teacher in the school district's middle schools until Spring of 2003. Additionally, Chris has volunteered in a wide variety of community activities and has garnered a large number of awards for her service in the legislature and the community," concluded the biography of Chris Giunchigliani.*6
In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economic growth and personal prosperity, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. * Eighty-seven percent of Nevada land is managed by the federal government.
* Area 51, a top secret area of Nellis Air Force Range and Nuclear Test Site, is rumored to have housed the development of the first Stealth bomber and alien and UFO research facilities.
* Nevada is the seventh largest state in size.
* The nation's largest silver deposit, the Comstock Lode, was found in Nevada in 1859.
* Nevada is the driest state in the nation with an average annual rainfall of seven inches.
* Nevada has the only complete skeleton of an Ichthyosaur, an extinct marine reptile measuring 55 feet.
* Nevada is the largest gold-producing state in the U.S. and third in the world behind South Africa and Australia.
* Gambling was reinstated in the State in 1931.

Governor Kenny Guinn of Nevada expressed that he can not overemphasize the significance and importance of bringing attention to all the attractions to Nevada at a time when it faces unprecedented competition for gaming customers. He believes that we are wise to expand our marketing efforts and focus on developing markets in places such as Asia. It is significant for him to point out that in addition to gaming, Nevada has phenomenal cultural, historic, and recreational resources that we must continue to promote. The Governor emphasizes that for our state's economy to thrive, all of the Silver State's tourism opportunities must be effectively marketed to both domestic and international visitors.*4
U.S. Senator John Ensign's great-grandfather first came to Nevada almost a hundred years ago as a miner and labored in its towns. This respectable man worked hard to provide for his family and taught his children the value of hard work, integrity, and independence. "The significance of life is to build and educate the continuous lives of the universe," said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). People came to America to seek the American dream. Even though not all of them realize their American dream, eventually they could teach and help their children accomplish their contributions to our country.*5
On October 22, 2000, U.S. Senator Harry Reid received the "Outstanding Democrat of the Decade" 1990's Award from the Paradise Democratic Club of Las Vegas (PDCLV) at the Skyview Room of the Bally's Casino and Hotel, Las Vegas. In the Program, the National Anthem was sung by Rose McKinny James. The Keynote Speaker was Senator Harry Reid. The heightlight of the Event was the presentation of the Outstanding Democrat of the Year Award to U.S. Senator Harry Reid by the President of PDCLV, John Ponticello.*6
Senator Reid graduated from Utah State University in 1961. He received Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University. In 1968, he was elected to Nevada State Assembly at the age of 28. After two years, he was elected as Nevada's youngest legislation in the state's history. In 1977, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission. In 1983, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. After having served two terms in the House, he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1980. On April 10, 1998, he was honored as Advisor and Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). In December of 1998, after returning for his third term in the U.S. Senate, he was unanimously elected by his Democratic colleagues to serve as the Assistant Minority Leader [now the Minority Leader (8/25/06)].
"Senator Reid loves heartily this country and our people. His leadership is accentuated with practical knowledge and deligent effort through his intelligence. He has achieved many years accomplishments to improve the quality of life of all Nevadans and help people realize the American Dream, " said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI), who was invited with his wife as guests to the Event by Congresswomen Shelley Berkley, County Commissioner Yvonne Atkinson Gates, and former Las Vegas City Mayor Jan Laverty Jones.
Senator Reid comes from Searchlight, Nevada, where in that rural mining town he learned the fundamental values of hard work and honesty that endure as his guiding principles. The Nevada's senior Senator was raised in a small cabin without indoor pluming and attended a two-room elementary school. His father was a hardrock miner with an 8th grade education, and his mother never finished high school, but the youngest of Harry and Inez Reid's four sons would go on to achieve the American dream. "Harry is now not just our senior Senator of Nevada in the Senate, he's one of the influential and important U. S. Senator for all our country in Washington, D. C.!" the Honorable U.S. Senator Richard Bryan pointed out during his short speech to the great awarding Event of the Club. "Senator Reid deserves special recognition for his continued leadership to the Democratic Party here in Nevada. His commitment to public service and distinguished record of fighting for the values we hold so dear has touched the lives of many in Nevada and across the country," wrote U.S. President Candidate and Vice President Al Gore. The distinguished accomplishments of Senator Reid has given he himself for us a successful model for people who wish to realize their American Dream.
The maturity of citizens society is the fundamental guarantee for the normal processing of a democratic community. In a citizens society, it depends highly on the team of public intellectuals to integrate people's opinions, to analyze rationally, and to point out wise persperctives and notice. A public intellectual plays an important and significant responsibility of mission to evaluate public activities, to reflect people's opinion, to lead citizens, and to predict crisis. Public opinion is therefore made through the effort of the public intellectuals by their wise investigation to the people's mind and willingness, and by their right understancing and analysis toward the facts. U.S. Americans W. Lippmann and J. Raston, German E. Noalle-Neumann are ideal representatives of such kind of persons as of the public intellectual. Community service is important to our people and society, moreover we wish individuals as our public intellectual may also encourage more volunteers, events, and projects to better the quality of life of all our residents and visitors of Nevadan through community participation.*7

"Dr. Tony Lei, my long time good friend, is the President of Washington Business and Technology Institute and Senior Advisor of U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley. Dr. Tony Lei, an outstanding resident of Clark County for more than 12 years, has given freely of his time, energy, knowledge, and talents, working on projects and events that contribute to the quality of life in Nevada and has dedicated himself to public service and humane spirit to not only the Asian Community but to all citizens in Clark County and Nevada. It is an honor and privilege of the Board of County Commissioners to recognize those extraordinary individuals, groups, or programs which enrich the lives of many in our community. On behalf of our Commission, I'm presnting him with our Proclamation on this occasion, April 24, 2005, in celebration and recognition of his distinguished professionalism and outstanding accomplishments. We do hereby recognize and honor Dr. Tony T. Lei, Ed. The 28th Annual Convention of Taiwan Benevolent Association of America was held in Las Vegas

"It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Las Vegas for the 28th Annual Convention of the Taiwan Benevolent Association of America. I hope that, during your time here, you will be able to experience some of the many attractions that our beautiful city has to offer. .....," wrote U. S. Senator John Ensign to Taiwan Benevolent Association of America.*2
The grand opening of the 28th Annual Convention of Taiwan Benevolent Association of America (TBAA) was held by its Chairperson Wendy Yu-ping Wu*3 at the Paris Hotel on July 30, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Concode C Room was full with participants from all around the world. Dr. Fu-Mei Chang, Overseas Chinese Affair Commission of the Republic of China; Ssu-yin Ho, Kuomintang Oversea Director; Mark W. P. Liao, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco; Lagislators of ROC S. C. Ting, Y. Y. Wu, S. H. Chou, W. C. Shieh, J. L Lin, among others presented at the Conference. Justice of the Supreme Court of Nevada Michael Douglas and Nevada Asemblywoman Valerie Weber each dilivered a nice and significant welcome speech. Greeting Letters and Cetificates were presented by Matthew McBride (for U. S. Senator John Ensign), Judith Ray (for U. S. Congressman James Gibbons), Gerri Schroder (for U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley), Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian (for Las Vegas City Mayor and Council), Councilwoman Stephanie S. Smith (for the Noth Las Vegas City Mayor and Council).
A Welcome Party and Preliminary 28th Board Directors and Advisors Meeting were held on July 29, 2005 at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. To pay a special tribute to his great contribution to the 28th Convention and TBAA, Dr. Tony Tung-tien Lei was nominated by Chairperson of TBAA as an Advisor of Taiwan Benevolent Association of America. The nomination was seconded and unanimously voted by all the presented Directors and Advisors. The Declaration of the 28th Conference of TBAA was written by five members. The five members are Kent Wang, De-yu Lang, Dr. Tony Tung-tien Lei, Dr. Wayne J. Horng, and Leo Huang. They were all elected by the Board Directors and Advisors. The Declaration was passed through the Meeting. During the meeting, Miss Sue Phelps was elected as the Vice Chairperson of TBAA.

The "Fomosa Night" was held at a grand ballroom in Paris Hotel on July 30, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lt. Governor delivered a welcome speech to the crowded attendents in the Hall. She wishes Navada be the great door opened for the international business and trade between the silver state and Asian countries. A Letter of Greeting was granted by her to TBAA.
President Dr. Tony Tung-tien Lei presented the Certificates of Recognition from Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn and U. S. Congressman Jon Porter and Greeting Letters of U. S. Senator John Ensign and U. S. congressman James Gibbons to the Chairperson of TBAA Wendy Yu-ping Wu.
"The State of Nevada congratulates you on your extensive assistance to the Taiwan Benevolent Association of America, and commends you for your dedicated service to the citizens of our Silver State," Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn granted a Certificate of Recognition to Wendy Wu dated May 23, 2005.*5
United States Congressman Jon C. Porter granted also a Certificate of Recognition to
recognize and honor Wendy Wu, "FOR YOUR DEDICATED SERVICE AND PROFOUND COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY AND TO THE TAIWAN BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA."*6
Dr. Lei presented also a Certificate of Recognition from U. S. Congressman Jon Porter to the President of Taiwan Benevolent Association of Las Vegas Sue Phelps. Sixteen original hard copeis of the RC 25 Resolution by Nevada Assembly and Senate were also presented by Dr. Tony Lei to each president of the 16 Chapters of TBAA through their Chaiperson Wendy Wu.
Proclamations from the Board Commissioners of Clark County of Nevada and the State of Nevada (through Assemblywoman Valerie Weber) were presented to Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) and Dr. Tony Tung-tien Lei by both of the parties on July 30, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada.*7
Ms. Wendy Yu-ping Wu completed successfully her term as the Chairperson of TBAA in the evening of July 30, 2005. The Chairmanship was transfered by her to Mr. I-Ta Liang at the "Fomosa Night" in Las Vegas, Nevda. Liang is now the 28th Chairman of TBAA.
One of the earliest attendants of the convention this year was the Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States David Tawei Lee(Embassador of the Republic of China) on July 28, 2005.

Jessie Walsh led the court with the highest number of days in civil jury trials

Thank you again for including us and please accept my best regards to you and your wife," said Jeri Winter, Judicial Exec. Assistant to Judge Jessie Walsh, Dept. 10.*1 Judge Jessie Walsh attended the Induction Ball held by Asian American Republican Coalition of Nevada-CC on April 24, 2005 in Las Vegas. She was honored as a Special Guest of the Dinner and Party. She was accompanied by her Judicial Exec. Assistant Jerri Winter and Courtroom Deputy Matt Diamond.
During the Event, Dr. Tony Lei received a Proclamation of the Board of County Commissioners of Clark County. It was presented to him by Commissioner Lynette McDonald on the Event and Dinner Party after she delivered her kenote speech.*2
Judge Jessie Walsh has been honored Associate Executive Director of Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum (PPAAF) by Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) on January 16, 2002.
Jessie graduate from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1992. She ran unopposed in 2001 to retain her seat in Las Vegas Municipal Court. By unanimous vote, the Mayor and City Council appointed Judge Walsh to fill a vacancy in October 1999.
Active in her profession and community, she is an elected member of the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada. She is also an Advisory Board Member of the Police Athletic League. Jessie is a member of the Southern Nevada Association of Woman Attorneys, and is the conservation chairperson for the Daughters of the American Revoluntion. In 1999, she was recognized by the Clark County Bar Association for her hard work and dedication to the Trial By Peers program.
At the dinner event and party for Mayor Goodman by the Asian American Community closing to the end of 2000, Jessie was a special guest invited by Dr. Tony Lei accompanied by Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court Honorable Nancy Becker. She was clever to share some significant acquaintanceship on both the philosophic and methodological skills in modern administration with him sitting together on the main table during the dinner.*3
Winning the election without any opponent, Judge Jessie Walsh*4 is now on her second term of her position in the Las Vegas Municipal Court. She wrote Dr. Tony Lei on February 7, 2001: "Thank you for the lovely congratulatory letter. I am fortunate and honored to have the support of people like you." At the same time, she told him that because of the enormous support and confidence she had received from him and the citizens of Las Vegas, she is honored to serve in this capacity and is dedicated to administer justice in a fair and expeditious fashion.
In May 2001, she was appointed Associate Fellow of Public Administration Institution (PAI) of WBTI. As a bright and future star in Juridical and administrative study, she is leading a group of intellectuals to enhance Dr. Tony Lei's scholarly belief that "Our knowledge, wisdom, and professionalism are all achieved by our sincere love to God!"
"I agree with District Judge Valorie Vega's idea to be honored as a Fellow of the Public Administration of Washington Business and Technology Institute. She said that, 'It will undoubtedly provide me with avenues for exploring improvements in public services to which I am most dedicated,'" said Jessie Walsh. "I'm glad also to share the similar position as one of its faculty member. It's significant, as Dr. Tony Lei told me that for community service--- that based on 'love in action is service above self'--- the abundant reward from one's humune love, spiritual excellence, and professionalism of expert are far more greater than solely her or his title."*5

The following is the most recent BIOGRAPHY of JUDGE JESSIE WALSH:
Judge Walsh is one of 33 judges serving in the 8th Judicial District Court. She was elected in November, 2002 and currently hears an all civil calendar. She began her judicial career in Municipal Court where she served from 1999-2002.*7
In December 1992, Judge Walsh graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law and subsequently joined the Las Vegas City Attorney*s Office as a Deputy City Attorney in the criminal division. As one of 6 prosecutors, she managed a heavy criminal misdemeanor caseload. She has also served as a Deputy Public Defender in the Clark County Public Defender*s Office.
In June 1996, Judge Walsh opened her own general private law practice that consisted of wills, trusts, civil and family law, criminal misdemeanor and felony cases, and probate and estate planning. She also represented indigent clients through a contract with Clark County, Nevada and was a special prosecutor for the City of Las Vegas.
Judge Walsh began her career in 1980 as a regional aide for U.S. Senator Paul Laxalt. She worked for U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Vucanovich from 1983-1989 as her regional representative.
Judge Walsh worked as a development officer for the City of Las Vegas, Department of Economic and Urban Development, from 1989-1990. She was responsible for real estate operations for City business parks, including lease negotiations and sale agreements. Judge Walsh also served as a federal legislative liaison for department projects and was the point of contact between the City and foreign dignitaries.
Active in her profession and community, she is an elected member of the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada and a former co-chair of the "Trial by Peers" program. Judge Walsh is a member and former director of the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys, and is the Conservation Chairperson for the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1999, she was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year by the Clark County Bar Association for her hard work and dedication to the Trial By Peers program. Judge Walsh served as a volunteer judge in the UNLV Law School Client Counseling Competition, Spring 2001; a volunteer judge in the "We the People...the Citizens & the Constitution" high school competition in 1999, 2000, and 2001; and a volunteer judge in the Annual Moot Court Competition in 2001 and 2002.
In 2004 Judge Walsh led the court with the highest number of days in civil jury trials.*8

In meeting with the large and growing population of public employees, Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) will open its training programs for the increasing graduate study and research needs of professional public administrators. To emphasize the balance of the practicality and theoraticality of the programs, the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) of WBTI has supported by many high-ranking officials of Nevada in offering their times, experiences, and knowledge to research and teach.*2
"Mark Denton has been appointed Adjunct Associate Professor of Business Law of the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration on September 18, 2003," announced Dr. John Wang, Spokesman of WBTI, on September 19, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada, U. S. A.
Mark R. Denton*3 received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. in1970. He was raised in Boulder City and graduated from Boulder High School in 1969. In 1973, Mark graduate with distinction from the University of Nevada, Reno. He completed ROTC and received a commission in the U. S. Army as a reserve officer. While in college, Mark spent his junior year in Paris, France through an affiliate of UNR at the Universite de Paris.
Prior to his appointment to the bench on August 19, 1998, Mark had extensive judicial experience. He served as municipal court judge in Boulder City for seven years. He was an arbitrator under the Court Annexed Arbitration Program of the Eighth Judicial District Court since its inception in 1992. He was an alternate Juvenile Court Referee and a Nevada Supreme Court settlement Judge.
Currently site as a civil judge on the Eighth Judicial District Court, Mark Denton has been re-elected in the general election of November 5, 2002.
"It's really a challenge to me to integret my knowledge and experience for research and teaching. I'll have this precious opportunity to extend my effort for community service through my profesionalism. The Second 27th Directors and Advisory Board Meeting of the Taiwan Benevolent Association of America (TBAA) was presided over by its Chairperson Wendy Yu-ping Wu on April 23, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The meeting was quite productive. Ms. Wu has an excellent educational background, and she is very talented. She is also a reknowned teacher, advisor, and community leader who has contributed significantly to our people, businesses, government, community, and country.
As the Chairperson of the 26th Taiwan Benevolent Association of America Conference and Convention in 2003, Ms. Wu's outstanding leadership brought success to the annual meeting and gathering nationally in California for TBAA.
Ms. Wu is also a distinguished leader as the President of the Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce - Northern California. Ms. Wu is going to complete her term as the Chairperson of the Taiwan Benevolent Association of America on July 30, 2005.

Innovative marketing for business

Innovation is practical for a real need. It is not a random process. "When it works, it works because someone has identified a real need, and found a way to bring new ideas or new technologies to bear on that need," said Lewis W. Lehr. An innovator's life is governed by "to create" lists. She or he is incessantly pursuing new possibilities and refinning existing ones.

It's our pleasure to post a short story from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren:
"Business has only two functions," writes Peter Drucker, "marketing and innovation."
Consider these phrases posted on separate roadside signs: A peach looks good...with lots of fuzz... but man's no peach... and never was... Burma Shave! In 1925, Burma Shave knew they had a great product but were ineffective in marketing it. So, their roadside advertising was implemented. Today, the Burma Shave commercial are highly recognized as memorable trivia.
Here's another exemplary approach combining innovation and unique marketing. A small garage-based company took a single product, biodegradable soap,broke the customary marketing trends and amassed a fortune.
Using multi-level marketing, Amway left its competitors green with envy. First, they produced a quality product, developed unique packaging, attached distinctive labeling, and then used direct salespeople to sell their product. It is working to the tune of an estimated $1 billion in annual revenues.
Domino's Pizza shocked the industry with their original idea: "Guaranteed delivery in 30 minutes or $3.00 off."Quick service is now a minimum standard in the food industry.
Innovative marketing-could it be the third function of business?*3
Innovation is one of the most important traits for the prosperity of American business. Hope our Pan Pacific and Asian countries may catch it as soon as possible!

Developer plans business park in Summerlin
Office, retail, medical center slated

Mark Fine Plans to build office, retail and medical center in Summerlin.*2
Las Vegas developer Mark Fine has closed escrow on a 7-acre parcel in the master-planned Summerlin community and plans to build a 70,000-square-foot office, retail and medical center.
The land at Interstate 215 and Town Center Drive was acquired from The Howard Hughes Corp. for $5.8 million.
Plans for the business park call for a retail component, a bank, veterinarian's office and 60,000 square feet of office pads for sale, Fine said Thursday.
"We found a little niche here," he said. "That area is way underserved at present for retail and office. We think having the ability to be in development as early as we are is a good opportunity."
Fine also developed Hills Center Business Park in Summerlin, which is completely sold out, and has five lots remaining out of 24 at Hills Center North Business Park.
He said the success of those projects underscores the demand by small and midsize professional office users to own their buildings.
The Town Center Drive development gives business owners the opportunity to purchase pads for buildings ranging from 3,000 to 20,000 square feet with convenient access to the beltway.
"We think the 215 is going to be the most important new freeway," Fine said. "There's a lot of action along the 215. Being in Summerlin on Town Center Drive gives us a premium location."
The center is ideally suited for financial, legal, insurance, real estate, dental and medical office users, he said. The Nevada Cancer Institute is under construction nearby.
Plans and approval for the $25 million project will probably take about six months, with construction expected to begin in the spring.
James Wilmot, project manager for Mark L. Fine & Associates, said Summerlin's residential growth provides a foundation for office and retail development in the area.
"From July 2003 through March 2004, nearly 200 jobs a month were created in Summerlin," he said. "The business community in Summerlin is as thriving and active as the residential community."
Fine also owns 4 1/2 acres at Bonneville Avenue and Grand Central Parkway and is evaluating several development concepts, including office, residential and furniture uses to augment the downtown World Furniture Mart.*3

Nevada State Senator Dina Titus was appointed by Washington Business and Technology Institute as a Fellow of its Public Administration Institution (PAI) on August 15, 2001. She was very pleased to receive the congratulations call from Dr. Tony Lei early that morning. Having out of town for a couple of days, the call reminded her that at the suggestion of U. S. Senator Harry Reid, former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones had offered to step down as Nevada's Democatic National Committeewoman, and Dina Titus would seek that job. This would give her some Washington, D. C., connections and enhance her political profile. With four trips a year to Washington, D. C., the committeewoman and committeeman from each state are expected to speak on party issues, raise money, and help recruit candidates.
"It's really my honor to be a Fellow of the Public Administration Institution of Washington Business and Technology Institute," said Senator Dina Titus to the readers of "Nevada Examiner" and Las Vegas Review-Journal.com. "I'm also honor to be invited by Dr. Tony Lei as a Special Guest to the Event and Dinner Party for a Special Tribute to U. S. Senator Harry Reid on August 24, 2001," she continued. Dina Titus brought her husband Dr. Wright to attend the Party at the Asia Palace Chinese Restaurant on the Friday evening. Dr. Wright is a Senior Professor in the Department of History at UNLV. The Event and Dinner Party was initiated by Dr. Tony Lei and Ms. Nancy Diaz. It was chaired by Dr. Tony Lei, Dr. R. D. Prabhu, Dr. Ram Singh, Mr. Tonie Sison, and Ms. Rita Vaswani. Joined with more than 36 hosts of the Dinner Party by community and organizational leaders, business exevutives and owners, and government officials, we had guests and participants more than 384 people.
As a Professor of Political Science of UNLV , Dina Titus is now a famous Senator of the State Nevada. She is also a State Senator Democratic Leader. On August 14, 2001, she said that she would run for Lieutenant Govenor if Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman ran for Nevada Governor. "She's brilliant, and she would be a great governor," Mayor Goodman siad of Senator Titus.
To her new honor and appointment as a Fellow of Public Administration Institution (PAI) of WBTI on August 15, 2001, Senator Titus agreed with District Judge Valorie Vega on "This position will undoubtedly provide me with avenues for exploring improvements in public services to which I'm most dedicated." It is really a valuable advancement that we may have such an appropriate and achieved individual like Dina as a colleague to our Institution. Senator Titus' expertise and good reputation in political science has been known locally and nationally. With her outstanding professional expertise and practical public administration experience, Senator Titus' acceptance as a fellow of PAI evidenced that in supporting Director Dr. William Thompason with Fellows Former Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa, Justices of the Supreme Court William Maupin and Nancy Becker, District Judges Mark Denton, Valorie Vega, Nancy Saitta, Jackie Glass, Michelle Leavitt, Jennifer Togliatti, Jessie Walsh, among others, they would form an excellent leadership team launching PAI into the next milleunnium for academic excellence and administrative practicality.
Dina Titus is now a famous Adjunct Professor of Administrative Strategies in the Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) of Washington Business and Technology Institute.
Professor Dina Titus, a native of Georgia, was educated at William and Mary, University of Georgia and received her Ph. D. from Florida State University. She currently teaches Political Science at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, and, in addition to these responsibilities, she is also a Nevada State Senator from District 7 in Clark County. She is on the Board of Directors of the Nevada Test Site Foundation and is a member of the Nevada-California Super Speed Ground Transportation Commission, Clark country Women抯 Democratic Club, Education Commission of the States and the Nevada Commission on Participatory Democracy. Se was named the Spanos Outstanding Teacher at UNLV in 1985, was the Chairman of the Nevada Humanities Committee from 1984-19865 and in 1999 was the Nevada Arts Advocate of the Year.
Her most recent publication is Bombs in the Backyard: Atomic Testing and American Politics. The title of Dr. Titus Convocation lecture, 揟he Mushroom Cloud as an American Symbol, attests to the extensive knowledge she has concerning America抯 nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site and the impact it has had on that region.
"The maturity of citizens society is the fundamental guarantee for the normal processing of democratic politics. In a citizens society, it depends highly on the team of public intellectuals. A good public intellectual interates peoples' opinion, analyze rationally, and points out wise perspectives and notice. Dina plays an important and significant responsibility of mission as an achieved intellectual at the same time as an important statewoman.
