Hallelujah! ***** Knowing how to live one's life with Jesus is a great art; and knowing how to hold him fast is the peak of wisdom. ---Thomas A. Kempis (1380-1471) [[[Believe in what you do]]]: Sometimes we may find that the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, it may be that they take better care of it there. People need to work. People will never know how long it takes you to do something, but they only know how well it is done. There are three things to make an individual happy in their work: They must be fit for it, they must be sometime praised, and they must have a sense of success in it. Jonn W. Gardner pointed out that, "The best-kept secret in America today is that people would rather work hard for something they believe in than enjoy a pampered idleness." God gives us the nuts, but he does not crack them. As we like our work, we do not feel that we are working during the long hours. It fascinates us, and we can sit and look at it for hours. We are pleased to quote the following five short but meaningful ones: ***** Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize it. ---Ann Landers ***** Hard work without talent is a shame, but talent without hard work is a tragedy. ---Robert Half ***** Hard work means prosperity; only a fool idles away his time. ---Proverbs 12:11 ***** I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it. ---Stephen Leacock ***** Ask God's blessing on your work, but do not also ask Him to do it. ---Waggerl It's our pleasure to post a short story and quotation from "Speaker's Source Book" by Glenn Van Ekeren: A carpenter whose brother was a famous musician was visiting with the foreman of the construction company where he worked. "You must feel honored to have a brother who is known around the world for his musical abilities," the foreman commented. And then, failing to recgnize that he might have hurt his worker's feeling, he continued, "Of course, not everyone in the same family can enjoy an equal amount of talent." "You're right," the carpenter replied. "My brother donsn't know the first thing about building a home. It's fortunate he can afford to hire others to build a house for him." B. C. Forbes suggested that "whether we find pleasure in our work or whether we find it a bore depends entirely upon our mental attitude towards it, not upon the task itself." The same can be said of finding importance in what we do. It all depends on how we choose to see it. Maybe that is why Booker T. Washington, in 'Up From Slavery', advised his readers that "there is as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem." *19 This Sunday November 19, 2006, the Sermon was delivered by Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church. The subject was "Vessels of Honor." Through the serving, your life can be grown. Jesus said, "I come not to be served, but to serve," The 2006 theme is "Arise & Shine - Prepare the Way of the Lord." Our next year's theme will be "In Lighting the City." The Worship was directed by Henry Hu. MC was Rev. David Whitney. "Our Englsh Service is now advanced with the development of Cell groups. We've two groups now. As I've more than 20 individuals in my group, we'll develop it into two groups. Therefore, we'll soon have three groups," said Pastor Doris Lin. Highly blessed by God, the English Service of River of Life Christian Church was growing. The specific charater of the event has been highlighted by the Coffee/Tea Fellowship. During the past several Sundays in 2006, we had Rev. Tong Liu, Rev. Hing-Chai Cheng, Rev. Victor Quon, Mr. Kevin Gordon (Kevin Gordon, Esq.), Pastor Doris Lin (Miss Doris Lin), Mr. Henry Hu, Mr. John Lei, Mrs. Jessica Wong, Mr. Walter Wong, Mr. Patrick Nolan, Ms. Lynn Ling Yang, Miss Vivian Chao, Miss Frances Chang, Miss Mariany Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Anothny Tsai, Ms. Cathy Tsai, Miss Christina (Ping) Tsai, Mr. Victor Luo, Miss Tine Lo, Mr. Gino Ko, Miss Angel Ku, Miss Prudy Yu, Miss Orchid Soh, Mr. Meung Kim, Miss Esther Huang, Miss Vera Suherman, Miss Nicole Ying, Miss Emily Ho, Miss Heidi Hsu, Mr. Arthur Quach, Mr. Yee Tuck Yong, Miss Merry Xiao, Ms. Tao Long, Mr. and Mrs. John Perrott, Mr. Roland On, Mrs. Jennie Quon, Ms. Cindy Chien, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wu, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Komashko, Ms. Anna Wen, Ms. Abby Komashko, Miss Christine Tsai, Mr. and Mrs. David Whitney, Ms. Merreyl Whitney, Ms. Jenny Long, Ms. Cindy Barnes, Ms. Elaine Tran, Miss Sandy Pei, Ms. Jocelyn Huang, Ms. Miao Chun, Miss Susan Dai, Miss Julie Tai, Mr. John Lee, Ms. Linda Miao, Miss Shirley Zhang, Dr. and Mrs. Tony Tung-tien Lei, and among others (names in random). The food of the Coffee/Tea Fellowship was prepared by Miss Mariany Lee in the previous week. The Salad and fruits were prepared by Miss Prudy Yu. The food and fruits were prepared by Kevin Gordon, Esq., and Miss Emily Ho this week. "We're going to innovate. We'll have something new early in the coming year. Potentially, we'll recruit some more Caucasian ministers for our Sermon. Certaily, the development of our cell groups is very important," chatted Miss Meriany Lee in the Coffee/Tea Fellowship. It is our pleasure to post the address of River of Life Christian Church's website: rolcc.net "Fist of all, we must have a humble heart. Humility opens our hearts to receive God's grace for our daily accomplishments. A song says, 'If we count God's blessings, then we will rejoice,'" wroted Rev. Tong Liu on November 19, 2006. "Next, we need to be sensitive. We always try to come up with something big to thank God for during Thanksgiving. However, the fact is if we can't thank God for the small things, it's really difficult for us to give Him the glory for the big things. We must ask god to give us a sensitive heart and learn to appreciate for the small things. Let us give thanks to the Lord from today on." *20 Jesus said, "Everyone who bears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. "Nevada's lieutenant governor-elect has international goals for the state's No. 1 industry, including pursuing the 2018 Olympic Winter Games and attracting travelers from China and India. Facing one of the largest audiences of Nevada tourism professionals, Treasurer Brian Krolicki, said Tuesday at the governor's conference on tourism, that putting Nevada in the running for the winter games will spur economic growth in the future. It has worked in the past," wrote Becky Bosshart.*1 "The 1960 Olympics helped to put Reno and Tahoe on the map," he said to conference participants at the Silver Legacy Casino Resort. Tourism officials recently visited India to develop tourism ties. India's middle class is about the size of the U.S. population, 300 million." Lt. Imagination is important for an individual and institution. It is the ability to perceive opportunity. Imagination may produce creativity. Creativity contributes profit and prosperity for an institution. Where imagination and innovation are encouraged, it floirish. Innovation is doing something different. Innovation comes from people and it requires insight. We are pleased to quote the following five short but meaningful ones: *** The most interesting people are the people with the most interesting pictures in their minds. ---Earl Nightingale *** Imagination is more important than knowledge. ---Albert einstein *** The human race is governed by its imagination. ---Napoleon *** Inspiration and imagination go hand in hand. ---Annonymous *** Every vital organization owes its birth and life to an exciting and daring idea. ---James B. Conant It's our pleasure to post a short story and quotation from "Speaker's Source Book" by Glenn Van Ekeren: What is serendipity? It is discovering something totally unrelated to the problem you are trying to solve. Call it an accident, dumb luck, or fate--serendipity has given our world great products, new hope, and better ways of doing things. Foe example, Columbus discovered America while searching for a route to India. It is said that the American Indians, finding no water for cooking, tapped a maple tree and made the first maple wyrup as the sap boiled down. Pioneers, traveling westward, stopped for water and found gold nuggets in a stream. These are all examples of serendipity. However, the classic example of serendipity must go to George Ballas. As George Ballas drove his car through a car wash, ... Why not use a nylon cord, whirling at high speed to trim the grass and weeds around trees and the house? Bingo! the Weedeater was born! ... Finally, in 1971, Ballas invested his own money in the first thirty- pound Weedeaster. ... Before long, Weedeater, Inc., grew into a multimillion-dollar international corporation. Yes, one idea can be worth a fortune. Weedeater, Inc., was born from a simple idea in a car wash. *m2 Do you believe Chairman of Apple Computer John Scully said that, "Innovation has never come through bureaucracy and hierarchy. It's always come from individuals"? "Adelson said Cotai and Macau will combine to make the Chinese region the Las Vegas of the Far East," posted the LVRJ on May 28, 2006. The $2.4 billion Venetian Macao Resort Hotel is the centerpiece of a $12 billion 'integrated resort' development - the first Las Vegas-style megacasino on a sliver land called the Cotai Strip," posted the 'Business & Money' on August 29, 2007. It was reported by Suzette Parmley, Inquirer Staff Writer.*m4 "Imagination disposes of everything; it creates beauty, justice, and happiness, which is everything in the world," said Blaise Pascal.*m5 Innovation is practical for a real need. It is not a random process. "When it works, it works because someone has identified a real need, and found a way to bring new ideas or new technologies to bear on that need," said Lewis W. Lehr. With the excellent and informative publication of "WBTI website", 'Next Weekly', and among others, high-ranking officials of Nevada have been inspired to help realize the creed for community service and humane spirit of WBTI," expressed Justice Michael Douglas at the Event and Dinner Party in the Emperor's Garden Restaurant on February 4, 2005 in Las Vegas. It was held by the Committee to implement the ART EXHIBIT of Mr. QIN QUAN XIONG. Justice Michael Douglas, the first African American justice in Nevada s history, was appointed to the Court in March 2004 to fill the vacancy that resulted from the death of Justice Myron E. Leavitt. Justice Douglas s appointment to the Supreme Court is the culmination of a 22-year legal career in Nevada that began by chance when he accepted what he thought was going to be a temporary job with Nevada Legal Services.*2 Michael was elected in November 2, 2004 as Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court. Justice Douglas, a native of Los Angeles, came to Las Vegas in 1982 from Philadelphia, Pa., where he had been working in private practice. The justice said he chose Las Vegas because he wanted to move back west and had a cousin living in the city. After two years at Nevada Legal Services, Justice Douglas was hired by the Clark County District Attorney s Office and served in the Civil Division until 1996. In January 1996, he was appointed to the Eighth Judicial District Court bench and was retained in the election later that year, serving until his appointment to the Supreme Court. At the District Court, he served as Business Court judge along with handling a variety of civil and criminal cases. He was elected Chief District Judge in October 2003. A graduate of California State College, Long Beach, in 1971 and the University of California Hastings College of Law in 1974, Justice Douglas has been a member of the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada and Vice President of the Nevada District Judges Association. He is president*3 of the Nevada American Inns of Court, an organization of judges, lawyers and law students that promotes*4 excellence and civility in the legal profession. He has been active in groups fighting domestic violence and also has served on a variety of law-related groups, including two years on the Nevada Law Foundation Board and seven years on the State Bar of Nevada, Southern Disciplinary Board. Justice Douglas, who is married and has a daughter and two grandchildren, has been a longtime supporter of the youth in California and Las Vegas. He was a sports volunteer and coach and has been a frequent speaker at Las Vegas area schools. From 1996 to 2003, he was the judicial sponsor of the annual Spirit of the Arts Contest, a competition for student artwork emphasizing Nevada themes and spirit. Many of the winning pieces still hang in the Clark County Courthouse.*5 "We're pleased to have Chief Justice Michael Douglas's interest in offering his caliber whose integrity, knowledge, and experience may bring to the School a professional and judicial perspective," points out President Dr. Tony T. Lei of WBTI. "Throughout Chief Justice Michael Douglas's distinguished career, he has accomplished a great deal of judicial practice and earned a good reputation as a conscientious and dedicated professional."*6 -------------------------------- References *1. We have been encouraged to better our endeavor for we have Dr. Kenny Guinn, Governor of Nevada as our Chairman of the Advisory Board, U.S. Senator Harry Reid as Vice Chairman." "Even with the constancy of his presidential responsibili- ties, Tony carved out time and energy during the past three years with wisdom and knowledge through the cooperation of Dr. William Thompson to create the blueprint for the institution that ultimately paved the way for the 2000 opening of our Public Admini- stration Institution," said Justice of the SupremeCourt Nancy Becker. "The Institution's activities and reputation already have earned local and national applause and attention," said Deputy Attorney General of Nevada Ann Zimmerman. "It was Tony and Dr. Thompson who conceptualized its mission as an outreach network to the wider public administration community, and we look forward to establishing this lasting and advancing accomplishment to their foresight and leadership." "PAI is exploring such themes as computer and quantitative analysis for administration, seniors power by voting, economic renewal, educational technology, elder abuse, social security and Medicare, and the important relationship between faith and public policy," Dr. Tony T. Once again like last time for Justice Becker, thunders of applause brought a climax of the evening at the sky room of Center Stage Restaurant. *****LVRJ/wbti: The Beauty of China - YouTube -------------------------------- 061600 LVRJ/wbti: WBTI encourages a life of service! by Tiffany Chang Public Administration Institution (PAI) of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) was established on January 18, 2000 based on the following reasons: (1) To upgrade the quality of the public services through academic research and experiental practice. (2) To promote the knowledge, technical application, and science of the executive public administration. (3) To upgrade the talents and skills for the Nevadan public administration practicians on the background with modern management and educational technology. "Even with the constancy of his presidential responsibilities, Dr. Tony T. Lei carved out time and energy during the past three years with wisdom and knowledge through the cooperation of Dr. William Thompson to create the blueprint for the institution that ultimately paved the way for the 2000 opening of our PAI," said Jusitce of the Supreme Court Nancy Becker. The first Director of PAI, Dr. William Thompson, who is the chair and professor of the Department of Public Administration of UNLV, has numerous academic publications with excellent teaching and administrative qualifications. His leadership in this Institution since January 18, 2000 has been applauded by both the political and educational professionals. On March 3, 2000, Emeritus Professor Dr. Roy Adamson of the famous Pepperdine University in California joined the Institution as a Fellow. His experiences as a superintendent in Southern California and an Associate Dean of USC and CSU have been a good background for him to merge for an orientation with both of academic research and executive administration for PAI. Justice of the Supreme Court Nancy Becker has also felt the honor to be a Fellow of PAI since her appointment by WBTI on May 2, 2000. With Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University National Law Center, she was an outstanding District Judge for ten years. She received numerous awardsfor her accomplishment and social service. Herexcellent ex-pertise and professional integrity have added a valuable asset to PAI. "It is indeed an honor for me to become a Fellow of PAI. This position will undoubtedly provide me with new avenues for exploring improvements in public services to which I am most dedicated. I look forward to working together with Dr. Lei in these endeavors," said District Judge Valorie Vega. The value of an academic institute should also put an eye on community service aside from its academic research. Take only one example, for the positive effort of the research and promotion of the seniors benefit, the Institute has done sizable works and received valuable results. Associate Fellow of WBTI, Elder Rights Attorney Besty Kolkoski of the Nevada Division for Aging Services (NDAS), with Juris Doctor degree of University of Cincinnati College of Law held the Forth Anniversary Meeting of the Nevada Elder Abuse Prevention Council (NEAPC) as Co-Chairpersons with Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa. Last year, a major American newspaper asked, "Is Obama toast?" As recently as two weeks ago, another ran this headline: "Can Obama win?" Tuesday night, ... YES WE CAN. By knocking on doors, organizing phone banks, and chipping in a few bucks when you could, you built a campaign that is unparalleled. And you re-elected our president. You also proved that millions of ordinary people taking ownership of a cause is still the most powerful force in our political process. You showed that grassroots organizing and small donations are not only the right way to win, but also the most effective way. How we got here must guide where we go. If we're going to accomplish the things America voted for on Tuesday, you've got to be even more involved in getting them done than you were in giving us all the chance. "People worry about the huge amount of creativity that is wasted---lost forever---because talented people are prevented from giving their best by their lack of ability to influence others effectively," wrote Dr. Ken Blanchard in the 'Foreword' of the book entitled "Winning Ways," written by Dick Lyles.*2 "The business world has changed; organizations are getting flatter and more networked. Today, the key to success is one's ability to exercise peer leadership. The most successful individuals shine because of their ability to influence, empower, and energize others. Corporate management has responnded to these changes by iniatating sweeping changes. The introduction of new technology may be touted as a productivity booster and turn out instead to be a total bust. D. Prabhu, David Amesbuy, Esq., among others. It was held by the Asian American Community on June 18, 2002 at the Harbor Palace Restaurant in Las Vegas. We are joyful that establishment of the sisters states relations between Nevada and Quinghai is advancing the cooperation and development of trade, tourism, culture, and education for the both states to promote the quality of life of all our residents and visitors of Nevada. "Visitors of the WBTI website (http://communitylink.reviewjournal.com/lvrj/wbti) are rapidly climbing in numbers since the establishment of the Graduate Schol of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) of WBTI on March 12, 2003. To date, visitors to the WBTI website have already exceeded 35,678. It's critical important now to resume the booming tourism for our Silver State through educational and cultural cooperation and development with Asian countries. The creative program of CPM (Certificate Program in Management) designed by Dr. Keong Leong and Dr. Tony Lei is a milestone of the practical cooperation among UNLV, WBTI, and CBCI for China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Nevada," said Eric Chen, Esq., Co-owner and General Manager of China Business Chain, Inc. on October 19, 2003 at his Law Office in Los Angeles. The Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) of WBTI was established early this year. Drs. E. Lee Bernick and Keong Leong were appointed as Deans of the School by WBTI on March 11, 2003. "The mission of this School will emphasize the humanitarian orientation of public administration adn social responsibility of business management . Throuugh academic entrepreneurship, we may expect the endeavor of this school for the community service based on humane spirit, led by Chairperson Elaine Chao of WBTI," said Dr. Dina Titus, Professor of Administrative Strategies in GSBPA. Dina is a Senator of Nevada Senate and Adjunct Professor of Political Science of UNLV. Nevada's trade delegation had a productive meeting with Chinese aviation officials in Beijing in a bid to begin direct passenger service with Las Vegas and air cargo routes to Reno, Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt said October 11,2003. "I and other members of the tourism and trade delegation met in Beijing with Yang Gouqing, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China. We were able to point out the excellent opportunities for both tourism and trade between our state and the People's Republic of China. This was a productive first day for us in China," Hunt said by telephone in a statement released by the Nevada Commission on Tourism on October 12, 2003. As Chairwoman of both the Nevada Commission on Tourism and the Nevada Commission on Economic Development, Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt of Nevada led a delegation of toursm and trade for the 10-day mission through October 13, 2003. The delegation met the Chinese officials in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong, Kong, and Macau. It is the Golden Delegation of our Silver State for the promotion of the cooperation and development on tourism and trade between Nevada and China. --------------------------------- For a search of "WBTI 2003 #2"! -------------------------------------------- ******************************************** | |

LVRJ/wbti: How this happened! Tuesday, November 6, 2012 8:45 PM From: "Barack Obama" Add sender to ContactsTo: "Tony T. Dr. Lei" Friend -- I'm about to go speak to the crowd here in Chicago, but I wanted to thank you first. I want you to know that this wasn't fate, and it wasn't an accident. You made this happen. You organized yourselves block by block. You took ownership of this campaign five and ten dollars at a time. And when it wasn't easy, you pressed forward. I will spend the rest of my presidency honoring your support, and doing what I can to finish what we started. But I want you to take real pride, as I do, in how we got the chance in the first place. Today is the clearest proof yet that, against the odds, ordinary Americans can overcome powerful interests. There's a lot more work to do. But for right now: Thank you. "God help me!" was the final sentence for each and every installing judges at their oathes. Certainly, God decides every thing. The assistant Democratic leader of United States Senate Senator Harry Reid wrote Dr. and Mrs. Tony Lei on January 11, 2001 from his office in Washington, D.C.: "The holiday season is a time for remembering the good things that have happened during the year, for reflecting on the many blessings of our lives, and for renewing the bonds of love and friendship that make our lives special." The famous political leader from Nevada continued his literary and intimate writing that, "This year has been eventful for the Reid family. Our first child, Lana, and our three grandchildren live in the Washington area. Roary and three more of our grandchildren live in Las Vegas. Leif is in Reno with two more grandchildren and have just told us another is on the way. Josh just passed the bar, is living in Reno and also has announced our new daughter-in-law is expecting. Finally, our youngest, Key, lives in the Washington DC area with our newest grandchild. So, as you can see, we have the pleasure of grandchildren in each of our frequent stops, Las Vegas, Reno and Washington." The Bible says: "Behold the fowls of the air: for they snow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" (Matthew 6:26) Take what the Senator says to Dr. Lei in his letter that, "On behalf of Landra and our family, I want to thank you for thinking of us during this holiday season. Each holiday greeting reminds us that we are truly fortunate to have so many friends and loved ones with whom to share this special time." And if a humble individual like Dr. Lei may be treated so friendly by our Senator Reid, obviously everyone of us in Nevada would be taken care by his extended kindness. And this be our mode: "In god is our trust!" His love to his family and his friends revealled his dignified and humane spirit through his words in the letter. For a great and powerful person like him to have such a beautiful and kind heart is really the glory of God. "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves," says the Bible. (Romans 12:9-10) At the end of the letter, the famous U.S. Senator says that, "The Reid family has been richly blessed and we look forward to the years ahead. I hope that the season brings happiness and good fortune to you and your loved ones. With warmest regards." Winning the election without any opponent, Judge Jessie Walsh will have the second term of her honorable position in the Las Vegas Municipal Court. She wrote Dr. Lei on February 7, 2001: "Thank you for the lovely congratulatory letter. I am fortunate and honored to have the support of people like you." Her Campaign kick-off Celebration party with Special Guest appearance from Mayor Oscar Goodman, won thunders of applause from a great deal of very important persons who presented in the Grand Ballroom at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino. She continued in her letter that, "Becuase of the enormous support and confidence I have received from you and the citizens of Las Vegas, I will serve as Judge in Las Vegas Municipal Court, Department 6 for the next two years. I am honored to serve in this capacity and am dedicated to administer justice in a fair and expeditious fashion. It is always a pleasure to hear from you. Good luck to you in all your endeavors." God certainly is in control! To God be the glory!
