Martin Parry, co-chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, was online from London on Friday, Oct. 12, at Noon ET to discuss award, the impact of winning the Nobel Peace Prize and what it means to the global community.

A transcript follows.

____________________

Martin Parry: The award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the IPCC is very important for 2 reasons:

1. It recognizes that climate change is a potential threat to the security of mankind, and thus requires our urgent attention, and

2. It recognizes the work done by the mc. 1,000 scientists in the Assessments of the IPECAC. Often this work is additional to scientists' work program, an add-on to the 'day job', and it can be quite a strain. This will encourage them to continue their work

"Dear Dr. Lei, I have read the wonderful article below and have learned so much about what is going on in our local community as well as world wide. There are so many important people who do good things for the community, and they should be commended for all of their efforts. I am highly impressed that you have so many friends and colleagues who communicate with you about their projects and activities for the betterment of society, including our Asian community. Best wishes," pointed out Cheryl Moss, District Court Judge of Nevada.*2

Through a search of "Michael Douglas: Igniting the city through the cooperation and development with our expertise, integrity, and professionalism is on the way!" on the Yahoo.com or "Michael Douglas: Igniting the city wbti" on the Google.com, we can find the article.*3

Challenging your work force can add to productivity, but productivity needs also cooperation. In a team work, harmony is very importnat. Sometime, a good leader is the one who leads us to a goal with a group performance in harmony.

We are pleased to quote the following five short but meaningful ones:

***** It is amazing how much people can get done if they do not worry aout who gets the credit. ---Sandra Swinney
***** No man can be rich withot himself enriching others. ---Andrew Carnegie
***** I rate enthusiasm even above professional skill. ---Sir Edward Appleton
***** Enthusiam moves the world. ---J. Balfour
***** Ingenuity, plus courage, plus work, equals miracles. ---Bob Richards

It's our pleasure to post a short story and quotation from "Speaker's Source Book" by Glenn Van Ekeren:

During a rehearsal at th Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, the great Italian conductor Arturo Toscanini offered a few words of constructive criticism to featureed soloist.
The Soloist, too proud to accept help, expressed her anger by exploding, "I am the star of this peroformance!" Toscanini responded calmly but with firm conviction. "Madam," he said, "in this performance there are no stars!"
All, from the greast to humblest, must work
together in harmony and devotion. We can
make no advances with only solo work.
Unless the solooists and the members of the
chorus are ready to work together in
harmony, there can be no symphony.
---Jackson Wilcox *4

Getting along in this world depends a lot on getting along with others. G. M. Verity told us that, "Cooperation is spelled with two letters -- WE.*5

By the act of love itself, we are enriched. Love in action is service above self. Make service a part of our character and experience the abundant reward that comes from serving others. Let our candles fuel a fire that will fan out an ever-lasting circles. With these circles together we can close our eyes and envision a community that is safe, peaceful, and healthy.*6

To win the popularity for an individual in a role to serve our communities of the world, we need also publications in English to empower the ones in Asian languages. "For some Asian country to increase the enhance of its 'International Visiability and Popularity', did the powerful authorities ever interest sufficiently much in the brilliance of leading search engines on the Internet?" chatted some of the faculty members of PAI. We are quite inspired by the words of wisdom as said by Alan Loy McGinnis that, "There is no more noble occupation in the world than to assist another human being--to help someone succeed." Vision with enthusiasm may help bring us with hope to serve our people, communities, and world!*7

Brilliantly, welcome your good input to Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum (PPAA20)!
By GSBPA and PAI of WBTI*1

Quality is our important policy!!! Welcome your good input to "Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum" (PPAA20) and "Literature and Academic Forum" (LAF6)! These Forums are offered freely to advisors, faculty members, and friends of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). The Forums (by the sections of 'Business & Administration' and 'Social & Community') are a daily or frequent presentation of WBTI's website at:

http:/communitylink.reviewjournal.com/lvrj/wbti

by WBTI through Communitylink of the largest newspaper in Nevada, "Las Vegas Review-Journal". They are also posted or published by Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, Search, Ask, Webcrawler, Altavista, Lycos, and among others about every two to seven days each week locally, nationally, and internationally.

PPAAF and LAF are non-profit and non-partisan contributions of WBTI to our communities with both philosophy and spirit of 'serve about self' through modern information management and effective research methodology. In administration, our efficiency is "do the things right" and our result is "do the right things."

"As we prepare people to play an active role in their communities, their professions, their states, their countries, and the world, we believe that our graduates have the ability to shape the future. This requires a new kind of leader who is transformative and deeply involved in social change," wrote Dean Dr. Magaret J. Weber of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) of Pepperdine University.*2

The Forums welcome articles, literatures, photos, biographies, pictures, speeches, etc. on the basis of righteousness and ingenuity that they may contribute to make Nevada and California a wonderful place for home living and business development with international perspective.

Hope our efforts together may help improve the quality of life of all our residents and visitors of the silver state Nevada and the golden state California.

The responses to WBTI's Forums of PPAAF and LAF have been enhanced by the messages and infomation documents sent to us for post from U. S. Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign and their offices in U. S. Senate, Washington D. C.; U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley and her Office in U. S. Congress, Washington D. C.; U. S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao and her Office in Washington D. C.; Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons and his Office of the Governor at Carson, Nevada; former Governor Kenny Quinn and his Office of Nevada Governor; Presidential Candidate and U. S. Senator Hillary Clinton; U. S. Senator John Kerry; Former U. S. President Bill Clinton, Pepperdine University and its President Dr. Andrew Benton, Dean Dr. Margaret Weber and Dean Dr. Linda Livingstone, and among others since the establishment of WBTI on January 8, 1996.*3

"At this era of the cooperation and development of Nevada's tourism and gaming with hopeful Asia for mutual business prosperity, it's my honor to be trusted and appointed by Dr. Tony Lei with these important and challeging responsibilities," said Nevada Assemblywoman Francis Allen. "As the Regional Marketing Administrator of Korea of the AMI and an Advisor of the ICBC, I'll utilize my best efforts and wisdom to help promote membership, professionalism, and universality of WBTI with local Asian American positivities, improve Korean and Nevadan tourism and gaming relations, and enhance WBTI's missions for the benifits and prosperity of Nevada and Asian countries." *4

The traits of vision and innovation inspired by WBTI help lift up the visiability of the importance of tourism and business among Nevada, California, and Asian Countries by the leading search engines on Internet. The following is an example:

The business of search engines is an innovation in America. WBTI has helped lift up and empower them by having them as a reference for research studies. Today, the leading search engines have become one of the most important resources for the popularity of a person or an article. The following is just one of the many examples:

***** "Great discoveries and improvements invariably involve the cooperation of many minds. I may be given credit for having blazed the trail, but when I look at the subsequent developments I feel the credit is due to others rather than to myself." ---Alexander Graham Bell quotes (Scottish born American Inventor and Educator, best known for the invention of the telephone in 1876. 1847-1922)

"Through the recommendations of our faculty members, including Justice of Nevada Supreme Court Michael L. Douglas, District Judges Mark R. Denton and Jessie E. "Dear Dr. Lei, My trip to Korea was wonderful. I love Korea very much, it is a great place. The inviation sounds good to me. Please let me know what I need to do. Thank you," wrote Miss Francis Allen in an e-mail to WBTI from her desk of Nevada Assembly in Las Vegas, Nevada.*1 "At this era of the cooperation and development of Nevada's tourism and gaming with hopeful Asia for mutual business prosperity, it's my honor to be trusted and appointed by Dr. Tony Lei with these important and challeging responsibilities," said Nevada Assemblywoman Francis Allen happily at the time when she was informed by WBTI with the honoring.

Brian K. Krolicki
Brian K. Krolicki was elected as Nevadas Lieutenant Governor in November 2006. As Lieutenant Governor, Brian is President of the State Senate, Chairman of the Commission on Economic Development, Chairman of the Commission on Tourism, and serves as a member of the State Board of Transportation.
Prior to being elected Lieutenant Governor, Brian served two terms as Nevadas State Treasurer. Among his many accomplishments, Brian considers his efforts to make a college education more affordable for Nevadas families a cornerstone of his administration. He assisted in the creation of the State Treasurers College Savings Plan and Nevadas Prepaid College Tuition Program and was responsible for the roll-out of the Millennium Scholarship in Nevada. During his tenure, Brian secured upgrades to the States credit ratings, saving Nevada taxpayers millions of dollars in interest costs. All three rating agencies now rate Nevada only one notch below the highest rating of AAA, which is held by just a handful of states. Brian consistently outperformed the strict investment performance benchmarks and during his tenure Nevada was the first state treasury in the country to receive the Certificate of Excellence in Investment Policy awarded by the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada. Brian also implemented many innovative programs and first-of-their-kind financial transactions that safely generated tens of millions of dollars in windfall earnings for the State.
On the national level, in 2002, Brian was unanimously elected by his peers to serve as president of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST), which collectively represents over $1 trillion in assets. As president, he founded the NAST Committee on Corporate Governance and served as chairman of the NAST Foundation, which promotes financial literacy and education throughout the nation. He has worked hard to promote financial literacy in Nevada by introducing the Nevada Womens Money Conference, a free event designed to provide the necessary tools and information to become financially educated. In 2003, Brian was appointed by President George W. Bushs administration to serve as a member of the United States Intergovernmental Policy Advisory Committee on Trade. In May 2004, Brian was selected by his state treasurer colleagues to receive the Unruh Award, given to the nations most outstanding state treasurer. Most recently, in December 2004, Brian was again honored by his national peers in both the private and public sectors with the highly regarded Gritz Award for Excellence in Public Finance in recognition of his leadership and innovation in the area of public debt management.
Prior to entering public service, Brians private sector experience included working for Bankers Trust Company in New York City and for Smith Barney in San Francisco, California and Manama, Bahrain the Persian Gulf. He is a graduate of Stanford University. Brian and his wife, Kelly, have three young daughters.

A Stronger, Safer Nevada

Friends

There is nothing I take more seriously than the safety of Nevadans and Americans across this country. We owe a great deal of gratitude to those who protect us from harm, and when it comes to providing them with the tools they need to ensure our safety, only the best will do. With this in mind, I am pleased to inform you of the passage of the Defense Appropriations bill in which I was able to secure more than $93 million for a variety of high-tech programs being developed by the military, UNR, Desert Research Institute, UNLV, and private sector in Nevada.

With $66.95 million for Northern Nevada and $26.4 million for Southern Nevada, our state will have the funds it needs to invest in our safety and strengthen our military. I applaud the passage of this bill a product of hard work by both Democrats and Republicans in the Senate.

In addition to funding the high-tech programs being developed, the bill includes a provision to allocate $150 million for the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program, a program that seeks to eradicate breast cancer by funding innovative, high-impact research through a partnership of scientists and consumers. I also supported $50 million for medical research programs that will fund peer-reviewed research aimed to prevent, control, and cure disease.

If you would like a detailed list of the projects expected to receive funding in Nevada, please click here. As always, feel free to contact my office or visit my website if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Harry Reid
