gov. guinn, federal highway administrator
announce u.s. 95 settlement

CARSON CITY – Gov. Kenny Guinn announced today that an agreement to settle a Sierra Club lawsuit has been reached, allowing construction to restart on the U.S. 95 widening project in northwest Las Vegas as early as this fall.

The agreement allows for the addition of new lanes, construction of high occupancy lanes in each direction, monitoring systems and other technologies designed to reduce congestion and improve safety on the busy highway. The agreement also includes measures designed to improve the environment by testing air filtration systems in nearby schools, retrofitting Clark County school buses with cleaner burning engines, and gathering information on vehicle emissions.

Gov. Guinn made the announcement at a press conference this morning in Las Vegas. He was joined by Federal Highway Administrator Mary E. Peters.

“This has always been one of the most important highway projects for southern Nevada, and one of my highest priorities,” Gov. Guinn said. “We can move forward now, on a project that certainly will keep the families, the commuters, and truckers traveling on U.S. 95 much safer.”

Peters said the Federal Highway Administration worked closely with the Nevada Department of Transportation to reach the Sierra Club settlement as quickly as possible because the widening work is vital to the Las Vegas economy and quality of life of area residents. The Sierra Club lawsuit stalled the project since last August. U.S. 95 is congested with nearly 12,000 vehicles on the six-lane highway traveling less than half the speed allowed during peak commuting hours. Estimates indicate that even a slight increase in the speed vehicles could travel would save the public more than $8.5 million per year in delay costs.

"Dear Dr. Lei and Mrs. Lei, Thank you so very much for being at the meeting last night. More importantly, thank you for your support for ARCC. I look forward to a very bright future for all of us. I promise you that we will have a strong membership built on honor and integrity. Please continue to support our endeavors. Dear Dr. Lei:

By Michael Douglas, Valerie Weber, Cheryl Moss, and
Tiffany Chang

"Through the recommendations by our faculty members
including Justice of the Supreme Court of Nevada
Michael Douglas, Nevada Assemblywoman Valerie Weber,
and Nevada District Court Judge Cheryl Moss, Ms. Wendy
Wu has been appointed Assistant Fellow of Public
Administration Institution (PAI) and Chairperson of
Interstate Business Cooperation and Development

"I am inspired by U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine
Chao's endeavors and her social and benevolent
contributions to numerous projects for the past many
years. She has been committed to promoting business
and social services within the community for more than
20 years. I have always been interested and found it
beneficial to work with such intellectuals amongst our
current generation and look forward to how
contributions now will positively impact on future
generations in our community. I am glad to see that
the Washington Business and Technology Institute
(WBTI) has set goals to promote standards of good work
performance in community service and and that the
organization's members and officials demonstrate
WBTI's humane spirit under the leadership and guidance

This is the time to urge people to turn their attention to focus on their families
By Family Keepers

About Family Keepers
According to a report from the United Nation, the most serious social crisis human being are facing is broken family. The Bible has warned us long time ago that if parents' heart are not for their children, and children's heart are not for their parents, then the whole earth will be cursed. This is the time to urge people to turn their attention to focus on their families.

The main goals of the Family Keepers are to provide effective and specific expertise services, coorporate with churches, related organizations and experts in the field, helping Chinese and their descendants to keep the love in their families.*1

My trip to HK is sort of like ‘Sex and the City’
By Cassandra Cheung*1

ON LOCATION: HK, summer of 2005

My trip to HK is sort of like ‘Sex and the City’ combined with ‘4 weddings & a funeral’.*2

I was born and raised in HK. March 2005 was a very intense month for me. However, God turn the disaster into my advantage. There are people to see and family matter to take care of. Finally I have time to accomplish them all.

Chee, my best friend who works for HK Times and Fuzi, my big brother’s college friend who married to an Italian jeweler, are my unofficial social directors in HK. Every morning I either had breakfast prepared by my aunt or had dim-sum with my uncle. The rest of the day, I got to explore the City with 2 trendy, independent, and professional women.

So, what to do and where to go when the HK weather was hot and drizzling thru out the day? A lot because the Smart Card can take you everywhere! To name a few as follows:

Admiralty Centre /Time Square, there is this one-of- a-kind Chinese restaurant that serves unique northern style cuisine. The décor is a mix of modern oriental with Euro furnishing. Food is excellent and there are 5 well-trained servers stand-by all time.

Luk Yu Tea House on Stanley Street off Theatre Lane, is the Who’s Who place where PLU (people-like-us) are often turned away because they do not take new customers. Fortunately, Billy (Chee’s former associate) is a regular and has his own table so we got to enjoy the old charm tea house 3 times in a role. We even made it our routine to browse around the closed by Shanghai Tang Tailor Shop where we could take a tea break served by Ah Ma (old-fashion servant) and glanced at the movie stars trying out their ready-made.

Then, the Secret Society Hideout where is for members only. My favorite is Chinese Tee Club in Central District. Overlooking those commercial buildings and having our high tea while we were served by professional butlers in a Casablanca surrounding. Imagine those multimillion dollars business deals were in the making at the moment…. So much for high tea, let’s talk about lunch in the very exclusive HK Jockey Club, Happy Valley. A family friend took me there for Chinese dim-sum along with his 83 years old mother who lives in a mansion on Jardin Hill. The food was excellent. I found out later that the Club had an award winning world famous chef.

The first time I met Chee’s boyfriend was at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club. The menu is a combination of traditional Chinese and 50’s American. After the doorman let us in, the manager asked us to show our membership card prior to be seated. Similar to all other private clubs, they are computer accessible in the dining room hallway. Down below is a cozy jazz club. Of course, we just had to drop by for some fine music.

Among all these private clubs, my least favorite was the Charter Club where Fuzi picked out for her college reunion. All dishes were tasteless and there was a long wait in between them. The dinner was a disappointment but the company was fun. Afterwards Marco, Fuzi’s husband, treated us saki in Lan Kwai Fong. None of us was driving that night so we emptied out several big bottles and laughed till the end of dawn inside the private room.

Since Fuzi is a fashion police and Chee is a high tea frantic, we spent days window shopping and had high tea in Causeway Bay, Cheung Chau, Soho, Repulse Bay, and Clear Water Bay.

One final note, those people that my late mother asked me to contact and I did. I also met up with a special long time friend, Frank. All and all, you can say that this trip is mission accomplished.*3

Dear Dr. Lei,

Our associates in Asia are government owned education centers, universities and colleges. The potential students are from government and business entities. EMBA and EDBA are overseas ‘degree’ or ‘certificate” programs, they do not have to come to USA and get the degrees. There are many USA universities that have the similar programs in China and Asian countries. For overseas certificate programs, if UNLV are interested, we should sign agreement and then, we could start to recruit the students, UNLV do not need to send professors to overseas, we have local qualified professors to teach those cohort programs based on the curriculum provide by UNLV.

If UNLV has interesting for those off campus programs, I am more than happy to come to Las Vegas to meet you and UNLV extension people for further discussion.
Dr. Archie Chang might come with me together. I am leaving San Francisco for Taiwan and China on 6/6, therefore, if you could make any arrangement before 6/3 will be very appreciated. Please see Authorization Letter to our company and me - For your eyes only, please keep in confidential and please do not make any copy to any third party.

In the mean time, we have a group of 20 people from Shenyang City government, China, they want like to have an EPMA degree program in USA for one year. Could you quote the tuition, student insurance, books , room and board to me ASAP, Please advise.

Sincerely,
Walter

Unveil the mysterious mask of Chinese Geomagnetic Feng Shui
By Master Der Wang

Foreword
Welcome to "Chinese Traditional Ancestral Geomancy Kan Yu Xue" Feng Shui web site [www.ctafengshui.org]. This website is for people who interested in finding out this amazing practical science of Feng Shui and provides a two-way interaction with public.

" Chinese Traditional Ancestral Geomancy Kan Yu Xue"(CTA Feng Shui) is the formal name for this authentic Feng Shui school. The core of Kan Yu Xue ( knowledge of observe the heaven and survey the earth) is Feng Shui and Feng Shui is the method to apply Kan Yu Xue.

CTA Feng Shui is the only school that passed down from the first king of China, the Yellow Emperor for more than 3000 years ago. It went through countless experiments to refine its theories and practices. So it is accurate, practical and universally applicable.

CTA Feng Shui originated in China and was moved to Taiwan in the turn of last century. Our Grand Master, Master Tai I Min Sing is the 22nd generation master to carry the torch. He has been spent more than a decade to discover, refine and simplify this art. We hope, by helping people to practice the correct Feng Shui, this world a better place tomorrow.
