U. S. Senator John Ensign was awarded SPIRIT OF ENTERPRISE by U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
By Tiffany Chang and PAI of WBTI*1

It is our pleasue to learn that U. S. Senator John Ensign was awarded SPIRIT OF ENTERPRISE by U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. The following is a post of the Press Release of Senator Jon Ensign from his Office in Washington, D. C. on Thursday, March 10, 2005:

Washington, D.C. Senator John Ensign today received the Spirit of Enterprise award from the United States Chamber of Commerce for his voting record during the 2nd session of the 108th Congress.*2

For Americas economic future to remain prosperous, we must encourage pro-growth policies so that we continue to be the leader in innovation and entrepreneurship, Ensign said. I am honored to be recognized by the Chamber.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce gives out the award based on key business votes by Congressional members and ranks them in its annual publication, How They Voted. Members of Congress who support pro-business positions on at least 70 percent of the key votes receive the award. Senator Ensign was well above that mark with a 91 percent for votes cast on pro-growth legislation.

It is critical to have members of Congress fighting for American business and their employees at this time of economic expansion and opportunity, said Thomas J. Donohue, Chamber President and CEO. John Ensign is a leader who has voted time and again to create jobs, improve our domestic security, and promote economic expansion.

Pro-growth policies are critical to small businesses in Nevada because they stimulate the economy and promote job creation, Ensign said. I will continue to support legislation that keeps Nevadas economy flourishing.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the worlds largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations.*3

The following introduction about U. S. Senator John Ensign edited by WBTI on December 26, 2004 was post on Reviewjournal.com and published by Google.com, Aol.com, Msn.com, among others:

About Senator John Ensign (By the editor of this flier)*4

Senator John Ensign has served the people of Nevada from his days as a veterinarian, small business owner, and U.S. Congressman to his present role as the 24th U.S. Senator for Nevada.

Senator Ensign was raised in northern Nevada and moved to southern Nevada where he graduated from Clark High School. He attended UNLV and earned a Bachelors degree from Oregon State University. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 1985.

Senator Ensign immediately began practicing veterinary medicine and opened the first 24-hour animal hospital in Las Vegas.

Throughout his career Ensign has fought for smaller, more effective government, lower taxes, a strong national defense and aggressive approach to combating terrorists, increased parental control in education choices, and quality health care for Nevada's seniors and veterans.

Senator Ensign was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000 and serves on the following committees: Armed Services; Budget; Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP); Small Business and Entrepreneurship; and Veterans Affairs. Ensign is Chairman of the Readiness and Management Support Subcommittee of the Armed Services Committee. In addition, Senator Ensign chairs the High Tech Task Force and serves as Vice Chairman of the Republican Steering Committee, a group that shapes the partys legislative agenda.

Since taking office, Ensign has worked hard to fulfill his promises to the people of Nevada. His Education High Growth Grant amendment, which brings tens of millions of extra dollars to Nevada schools, was included in the education bill signed into law by President Bush. The Prescription Discount Card for Seniors, a key part of Ensign's prescription drug plan, was endorsed by President Bush and would allow many seniors to cut their prescription drug bills by 40%. On the environmental front, enactment of the Ensign/Reid Clark County Lands Bill will protect environmentally sensitive areas in southern Nevada, allow recreational opportunities to continue, and improve the quality of life.

Ensign has taken the lead on technology issues as well. His "Dot Kids" legislation creates a subdomain on the Internet where children can explore the Internet without the fear of being exposed to material parents may deem inappropriate. His bill to delay the 700 MHz spectrum auction from moving forward was a critical step toward improving our nation's wireless network. Both were signed into law by President Bush.

Ensign spends his workweek in Washington and his weekends in Las Vegas with his wife, Darlene, and their three children-Trevor, Siena, and Michael.

John has been honored as Advisor and Vice Chairman of the Advisory Board of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) since November 1999.*5

Asians in America---Were the fastest growing ethnic Americans!
By Tiffany Chang

It is our pleasure to post an article written by Rita Villadiego about the National Asian American Republican Coalition (NAARC). It was entitled "Fil-Am elected as head of Asian-American Republican coalition". The article was released by the Philipino Express Online. It was found by us in Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) through the searching of "Dr. Jasmine Brooks" on the Google.com at March 19, 2005:

Fil-Am elected as head of Asian-American Republican coalition
By Rita Villadiego*2

Washington, D.C., January 28, 2005 --- Vowing to empower Asian Americans, Dr. Sonny Carlota, a Filipino-American based in Tennessee was unanimously elected chairman of the National Asian American Republican Coalition (NAARC).

Im proud to be a Tennessean of Filipino descent, said Dr. Carlota who shone in politics in 1983 when he was elected as Vice Mayor of Lakeland, his home city, in 1993.

Other elected officers of the Coalition were Dr. Grace Shu (PA), 1st Vice Chair; Elena Brady (NV)*2, 2nd Vice Chair; Dolly de Leon (NV)*3, Secretary; Tran Dinh Truong (NY), Treasurer.

Weve got work to do. The stakes are high. We need to empower the 13 million Asian Pacific Americans politically, economically, and socially, said Carlota. Were the fastest growing ethnic Americans. Yet theres a long list of unmet needs in the community.

Carlota was appointed by President Bush to the Presidents Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in 2001-2003. He chaired the Commissions SubCommittee on Health which prepared a comprehensive report on health disparities among Asian Pacific Americans. Right recommendations on solving the Asian health needs were an integral part of the report submitted to the President.

The NAARC is a diverse group of community leaders representing the major Asian Pacific Islander population that helped determine the final outcome of the 2004 presidential elections, Carlota said.*4

With participatory leadership, the newly elected national chairman said that he would work towards implementing a 5-Point Plan which are to: 1.) Broaden the base of membership nationwide by appointing ethnic co-chairs for each nationality, and have the co-chairs recognized by the State Republican Committees in their respective areas; 2.) Work for the appointment of qualified Asian Pacific Americans in federal, state, and local governments and the private sector; 3.) Encourage and support qualified Asian Pacific American Republicans to run for public office in the federal, state and local levels; 4.) Steer the ethnic republican groups to integrate with the activities of the State and County Republican Committees during primaries, federal, state and local elections; and 5.) Strengthen NAARCs working relationships with the White House, Republican Senators and Congressmen, the RNC, as well as the State, and local Republican Committees.*5

After the elections, Carlota announced a partial list of appointees to serve as part of his leadership team: Charles Wang (NY), co-chair, Chinese Americans; Paul Blanco (CA), co-chair, Filipino Americans; Dr. Sonny Lee (NJ), co-chair, Korean Americans; Dr. Jasmine Brooks*6 (NV), co-chair, Vietnamese Americans; Dr. Leo Pandac (CA), executive director; Rudy Asercion (CA), communications director; Jun Policarpio (NY), White House liaison; and Augustus Alzona (MD), political director.*7

We are pleased to learn that the Asian American Republican Coalition of Nevada - Clark County Chapter has been established in Las Vegas, Nevada. The most recent Executive Meeting was held by its President, Dr. Jasmine Brooks, at 1:00 p. m. on March 12, 2005. The location was at Suite 217, 6767 W. Tropicana Avenue, in Las Vegas.*8

and the pleasantness of one's friend
springs from his earnest counsel,"

"He who loves a pure heart
and whose speech is gracious
will have the king for his friend,"
Proverb 22:11 of the Bible inspired us again.

Shelley's popularlity is arising from her effective production for public service and good personal traits by nature and sincerity.

JUDGE BETSY KOLKOSKI WON REELECTION WHEN NO ONE FILED TO RUN AGAINST HER
By Judy Lei and Cheryl Moss*1

The following letter, which was sent to Dr. Tony Lei by Judge Betsy Kolkoski from Municipal Court - Department 2, was received by him on April 16, 2005:

March 15, 2005

Dr. Tony Tung-tien Lei
2245 Homeland Street
Las Vegas, NV 89128

Dear Dr. Lei:

Your early and strong support of my reelection efforts and that of Judy's is greatly appreciated. As you know there is much hard work that goes into a campaign long before filing begins. In my case we placed fifty A-frames around the city to built early name recognition and support. While this was costly, it was one factor among several that ultimately resulted in no one filing to oppose me. Your donation helped fund this effort.

I appreciate, also, that this was the second campaign that you have supported. Old friends are the best and genuinely treasured.

Many thanks for your ongoing encouragement and support.

Sincerely,

Besty(signed)
Betsy Kolkoski

[You two are the best. I value our friendship. B. (Written by Betsy with a pen.)]*3

The above original letter was post on the section of "Photos & Pictures" at http://communitylink.reviewjournal.com/lvrj/wbti on March 16, 2005.

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman supports Judge Kolkoski and encouraged her to file for reelection. Judge Betsy Kolkoski was appointed by the Las Vegas City Council to Department 2, Las Vegas Municipal Court July 5, 2000. She won election April 5, 2001.*4

Judge Kolkoski was instrumental in the production of a trilogy of elder abuse training videos produced for law enforcement. She coauthored the script and was the Executive in Charge of Production of the first video Rx for Abuse hosted by Shirley Jones and Marty Ingels. Rx for Abuse won a national award.

As Nevadas Elder Rights Attorney, Judge Kolkoski focused on the mistreatment of Nevadas elders. She drafted and took the lead to form consensus for passage Nevadas Elder Abuse Statute. With a coalition of senior advocates, she formed the Nevada Elder Abuse Prevention Council. Judge Kolkoski also created and edited the Elder Abuse Quarterly published by the Senior Spectrum Newspaper.*5

Judge Betsy Kolkoski was declared elected by Las Vegas City Clerk Roni Ronemus Friday at 5:06 p.m., April 4, 2005. Ms. Ronnemus told Judge Kolkoski you are declared elected. You are not on any ballot . . . you will be sworn in on April 20.

Judge Kolkoski extends her sincere thanks and appreciation to all the many people who helped her win reelection. She pledges to continue her work on the court mindful of her responsibilities to the constitutions of the United States and the State of Nevada and to the people of Las Vegas.*6

"You assistance is very effective in helping me win reelection. I also appreciate your coming to my kickoff on such a stormy night. Many, many thanks," wrote Judge Betsy Kolkoski to Dr. Tony Lei early in the morning on January 30, 2005.*7

Sarahs life is a story of firsts
By Dr. Harry Reid and PAI of WBTI*1

Nevadas second statue in the U.S. Capitol's National Statuary Hall was dedicated March 9, 2005. The Sarah Winnemucca Statue will join Nevada's other statue of Patrick A. McCarran as the two statues contributed by the Silver State.

The following speech is the one that I delivered at the dedication ceremony. It would be most inspired by our people here in Nevada for the story of Sarah Winnemucca:

Sarah Winnemucca is Nevadas second statue in the Capitol. Our other statue, Senator McCarran, has been here for 45 years - which I believe marks the first time Sarah Winnemucca ever came in second to anyone.

Sarahs life is a story of firsts.*2

She was the first female Native American to write a book. She set up Nevadas first school for Native American children. And she was one of the first individuals to navigate between her own culture and the settlers.

As someone who showed so much courage in charting a new course, Sarahs statue fits in well among other first Americans in the Capitol, individuals like our first President George Washington.and the first woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, Jeanette Rankin.

And with Sarahs statue, we experience another sort of first today.

Sculptor Benjamin Victor becomes the youngest artist ever to complete a work for the National Statuary Hall Collection.

None of us knew Sarah Winnemucca, but because of this 26 year-old man, we can get a glimpse of who she was as will thousands of visitors to our nations Capitol each year. And when they see this work, they will get a sense of Nevadas historyand our countrys history.

One week ago, many of us gathered in this same spot to present Jackie Robinsons widow with the Congressional Gold Medal. We praised Jackie for breaking the color barrier not just in baseball, but in minds across the country.

It is praise we can equally lavish on Sarah Winnemucca for the work she did on behalf of Native Americans over 125 years ago.

Disillusioned by the treatment and relocation of the Paiute people, Sarah became an activist - - in addition to the many other roles she held, which included teacher, author and translator.

Sarah traveled across the country, introducing Americans to her people and the struggles they faced through a series of lectures on the East Coast. She even visited Washington, DC to plead her case with President Hayes and the Secretary of the Interior only to be sent home with promises that would never be fulfilled.

Having dealt with an indifferent U.S. government, it has been written that Sarah died believing she had not accomplished much unconvinced that her life had an impact.

I think if she could see us today, she might change her mind.

While our country and our culture remain far from perfect, we are further down the trail Sarah set out on a Century ago. And while she may have died believing she did not make a difference, her image in the Capitol is proof her story remains very much alive.

It took 45 years for Nevada to get its second statue in the Capitol. When you consider what Sarah did in just 47 years of life, youve got to wonder what took so long.

As this statue takes its permanent place, Im proud that Sarah is the newest face of Nevada in Washington, DC, and that as a state, we have helped ensure her legacy lives on for generations to come.*3

Ok Ladies take a second and do this please. I thought that you might want to know about this Congressional bill.
Lifetime TV has put this petition on its website. You can sign it with just your name and zip code.

Subject: Mastectomy Bill in Congress Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill - Important legislation for all women.
Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard,
this is one of those times. If you are receiving this it's because I think you will take the 30 seconds to go and vote on this
issue...and send it on to others you know who will do the same. There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act
which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's
about eliminating the "drive-through mastectomy" where women are forced to go home hours after surgery against the wishes
of their doctor, still groggy from anaesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.
Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support. Last year over half the House
signed on. PLEASE!!!! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below. You need not give more than your name and zip
code number. < http://www.lifetimetv.com/health/breast_mastectomy_pledge.html

The Bible tells us: "Wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you."
By PAI of WBTI*1

From the KUN of "I Ching, "Somebody may learn that "It is smooth at the beginning. There is a foreboding that it is better to ride a mare. The gentleman travels, and even if he loses his way, he will work it out later. This trip will help you get treasures in the southwest, but you will miss treasures in the northeast. Still, it is auspicious if you keep calm and use your own mind to predict the future."*2

Citibank is proud to serve the community and values the ethnic and cultural diversity in Las Vegas
By Tiffany Chang

Citibank is proud to serve the community and values the ethnic and cultural diversity present here. It held a seminar and dinner party for the Chinese people at the Cathy House Restaurant on March 2, 2005 in Las Vegas. More than thirty individuals attended the event. Dr. and Mrs. Tony Lei were invited by Xiaosheng Huang, Esq., to participate. The guests invited by him on the same table including Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute; Mrs. Judy Lei, Mr. Edward Lu, Miss Yan Li, and Ms. Claudia Yang (Mrs. Xiaosheng Huang). Ms. Vida Chan Lin, vice President of Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce, also attended the event and party.

An impressive speech was dilivered by Ms. Joy Wang on the current markets and investment in America, Europe, and Asia. "Searching from the markets, it's our understaning that the stock market is going to be good for the comming year here in the United States and Europe. One of the reasons is that the interest rate will be going up. The real estate in Las Vegas is also continuing to be good for the coming year. An investment to the stock market and real estate is suggestable," pointed out Ms. Joy Wang.

It is a good seminar implementated by Citibank to partner with the local residents in helping them reach their financial goals and dreams.

The following is a Thanks card sent by Miss Jaril Pineda to Dr. Tony Tung-tien Lei and guests, which was received by him on March 7, 2005:

Free Kids Sightfirst Campaign
Saving Children From A World of Darkness
By PAI of WBTI

The sunshine was beautiful. That was a day quite near to the end of Lunar 2004 and before the Lunar (Chinese) New Year. Miss Sue Phelps, President of Las Vegas Taiwanese Association, held a dinner party at the Cathay House Chinese Cuisine, Las Vegas on February 2, 2005. The guests, who were invited by her, included Dr. Tony Lei, Miss Noni Rybka, Ms. Mindy Gao, Mr. Gin-sheng Hsu, Miss Sophie Ideker, Mrs. Judy Lei, and Miss Grace Ma.

During the party, Sue had a foresighted perspective on the coming Annual National Taiwanese Association Convention in the United States. To the successful implementation of the annual convention, Sue is expecting that Dr. Tony Lei may invite many special guests of Nevada to attend. She also emphasized the importance of the event on free Kids Sightfirst Campaign under the cooperation between Las Vegas Taiwanese Association and Las Vegas International Lions Club.

Kid's Sightfirst Campaign is a community-service project of the Las Vegas International Lions Club, in collaboration with the Las Vegas Las Americas Lions Club, as well as volunteers from other Lions Clubs and eye care professionals in Southern Nevada.

There are childhood eye disorders that may lead to vision impaiment, blindness, or even death if not detected in their early treatable stage. For more information on this subject, please contact Las Vegas International Lions Club at (702) 251-5874.

A free Kids Sightfirst Campaign event will be held at the Las Vegas Children Museum, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North.Las Vegas. The time will be at 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on February 27, 2005.
