GOVERNOR GIBBONS MAKES BOARD APPOINTMENTS TO NEVADA STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS AND TAHOE REGIONAL PLANNING AGENCY Carson City ¨C Governor Jim Gibbons today made several appointments. Gibbons announced that Las Vegas real estate executive Donna Ruthe has been appointed to the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners. Donna Ruthe, broker and owner of Today¡¯s Realty, is a longtime Nevada resident and well-known for her work with many charitable organizations, including Opportunity Village and the Ronald McDonald House. She is also a past-president of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors. She will join the Board of Medical Examiners in August. Ruthe resigned her position on the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) so she could devote her time to the Board of Medical Examiners. She will take the seat of Rene West of the Board of Medical Examiners. West resigned from the Board effective August 15, 2010. The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners serves the State of Nevada by ensuring that only well-qualified, competent physicians, physician assistants, and respiratory therapists receive licenses to practice in Nevada. Governor Gibbons also reappointed Van Hefner to the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners. Hefner has served on the Board since the middle of 2008. Governor Gibbons also announced the appointment of Robin Reedy to the TRPA. Reedy presently serves as the Governor¡¯s Chief of Staff and is a resident of Douglas County. She has been appointed to the TRPA position previously occupied by Donna Ruthe. According to the TRPA¡¯s website, the TRPA staff works to gather the most current scientific data and other related information about issues facing Lake Tahoe. Each month, that information is presented to the TRPA Governing Board at its regularly scheduled public meeting. It is the responsibility of the Governing Board to use that data along with public input to make decisions and create regulations that protect the health and quality of Lake Tahoe. --------------------------------------------
