"(1) 運河交錯 重要交通 ---在威尼斯的這些島嶼及水巷之間是由大約400座不同造形的石橋來連接的，其中最有名的就是在聖馬可廣場附近的「嘆息橋」(The Bridge of Sighs)，因為拜倫 (Lord Byron) 的有名詩句 :「I stood in Venice on the Bridge of Sighs, a palace and prison on each hand.」而開始被稱為「嘆息橋」。和其他的橋不同的是嘆息橋是密閉式的拱形石橋，在橋的兩側只有兩扇很小的窗子，因而橋的內部是陰暗而且低矮的，中間又被一道牆分隔成兩條狹窄的通道，... The traveling article entitled "《旅遊》阿拉斯加夏季之旅" by Writer 揚欣 is impressive as a literature. It was posted on the '旅遊指南' of Worldjournal.com.

"領略阿拉斯加的宏偉：湛藍的天空，巨大的雲朵、巍峨的群山、清澈的河流，廣博原野、不盡的冰川，這一切將久久縈繞在我的心間。 黝黑的山體披掛著雪白的冰線，晶瑩剔透的麥金利峰直插雲霄，成群的野生動物嬉戲於山水之間，亙古不化的冰川懷抱著星羅棋佈的湖泊，不墜的日頭映照著絢麗斑斕的鮮花，這就是阿拉斯加的夏天。這塊亞北極地的原野經歷了漫長凜冽的寒冬之後，趁短暫的夏季，展現自己美麗的風貌所迸發出的強大生命力，令人震撼," wrote Writer 揚欣 vividly.*1

Alaska is beautiful. "To the lover of wilderness, Alaska is one of the most wonderful countries in the world," quoted John Muir.

According to 揚欣, "Denali國家公園是到阿拉斯加的必遊之地，公園面積比德克薩斯州（Texas）還大。到那裡主要是看麥金利峰和野生動物。安克拉治到Denali國家公園約240英里，一路上藍天白雲，雪峰連綿，叢林茂密，鮮花鬥豔。遠方的麥金利峰（Mt. McKin-ley）若隱若現，無盡的風光美不勝收。下午到達公園後就去Nenana河坐皮筏漂流。Nenana河水來源於冰川消融，它像一串珍珠鑲嵌在Denali公園邊緣。每年5月中旬河水解凍時，轟隆的裂響聲在數十里山峽間迴蕩，宣示著繁忙的夏季來臨。皮筏漂流（Rafting）有兩種，Paddle和Oak，前者是遊客親持划槳，激流勇進。後者由導遊持槳，遊客可能缺乏會水當擊的快感，卻能輕鬆領略兩岸風光。"

Soon after starting again we caught glimpses of snowy peaks toward the south, and when we reached the top, Denali and the Alaska Range suddenly burst into view ahead, apparently very near," quoted 'The Wilderness of Denali' by the CJJT's Notes, quotes and thoughts.

揚欣 pointed out the '像絕代美人 橫空出世' that, "Kantishna Tour縱深公園92英里，來回13小時。進山的土路十分簡陋，沿著懸崖蜿蜒入山。汽車駛過塵土飛揚。遇到前方來車都要禮讓，司機互相招手致意。遊客們一進山就尋找麥金利峰，由於山峰重疊，剛進山時看不清全貌，更多時候它又被雲霧繚繞，像面紗輕蓋。車到Wonder Lake停下，眼前豁然開朗，彷彿所有的山峰峭壁向後退隱，麥金利峰像一位絕代美人橫空出世，它是那樣的冰清玉潔、雍容華貴。其倩影倒映在Wonder Lake 湖面上，讓人真正體驗到湖光山色的美境。"

The writer introduced some of the the senic places along the river that, "沿岸下船賞景推薦" --- 1. 神農溪 山幽水奇 2. 白帝城 千古傳誦 3. 船行大壩過五關:

The reporter 于茂芬 showed us a colorful picture of '何大一接受前聯邦運輸部部長峰田代表頒發的終身成就獎'. She wrote that, "國際著名愛滋病專家何大一 ，26日晚間榮獲國際青年領袖基金會頒發的2007年「終身成就獎」，並應邀擔任年會主講人。他表示，這幾年來常到中國協助宣導預防愛滋病，有機會參與公共教育及公共政策，也深刻體認到參與公共事務的重要，除了實驗室的工作，每個人都有義務做一個關心世界的公民。 何大一介紹自己12歲從台灣來美，他表示，很高興能夠把在美國所學貢獻給自己傳承的土地（land of my heritage）。在中國，他扮演科學家的機會較少，反而是戴上老師、推動者、治療者、輔導者及啦啦隊等角色的帽子。" *6

The '科技' of Yahoo!奇摩新聞 posted a report on "微軟建立致力於搜索和廣告技術的應用研究部門" at 06:39 on 2007/07/27. The information (消息來源) is from 微軟公司 with the news released by 美通社-華盛頓州雷蒙德電.

The report entitled "徐玲：職場成功 有賴眼界開闊" by 記者吳日君 of World Journal from Santa Clara, California (聖他克拉拉) had been shown in the way as a quick news the day before yesterday here in this section, because we intended to let interesting people know the hour and location of the speech. The subtitle of the report was "鼓勵基層員工越級幫大老闆著想 主管不與底下搶功 上下互動良好 齊心辦好公司".*11

"Rapid changes in technology and global competition have combined to reshape the corporate landscape. Corporate management has responnded to these changes by iniatating sweeping changes. The introduction of new technology may be touted as a productivity booster and turn out instead to be a total bust. Whatever the problem may be, you're the one who has to deal with it on a daily basis. Even when new ideas are well thought out, there are still problems in putting them into practice within your group," George Fuller wrote in the 'Introduction' of his book, "Win/win management: leading people in the new workplace."*13

There are lots of common headaches most of supervisors and leaders have to confront. "It's easy to understand how the broad scope these problems can easily lead to a less than steller attitude toward your job. However, adoping a sense of futility only serve to make matters worse. On the other hand, maintain a positive attitude helps you place things in perspective and can make coping eith problems a lot easier to do."*14

Today, the key to success is one's ability to exercise peer leadership. The most successful individuals shine because of their ability to influence, empower, and energize others. In essence, they embody the principles and practices of Winning Ways."

Therefore, business has become not only the fastest growing major in undergraduate institutions but also in graduate school of famous universities, nationally and internationally. The emphasis of the online communication skills and the quantitative analysis techniques with computers is one of the most important study for the art of success to the business students, professionals, executives, and owners.

School Notices

Starting fall 2008, the Graziadio School will offer two new Master of Science degrees. The M.S. in Applied Finance program is a one-year degree program to help new or recent college graduates without previous business education secure entry level positions in finance. The M.S. in Management and Leadership Program, a 16-month program, prepares working professionals to effectively manage people and teams, adapt to change and succeed as leaders in the workplace.
Business students in all programs are invited to compete for a $1000 prize by submitting 3000-word articles on a well-researched current issue in business. The Graziadio Business Report is accepting submissions for the First Annual Graziadio School Student Paper Competition.
The Pepperdine Net Impact students helped organize the first annual Wallflower Organic & Eco Festival with the Malibu Chamber of Commerce on October 6, 2007. Practitioner faculty Molly Lavik was a featured speaker.
The popular Graziadio Business Report article "Seven Neurotic Style of Management," by Professor Kurt Motamedi, served as the basis for a panel discussion at UCLA's 2007 Alumni Weekend Conference.

當然，從九年前吳清邁學長(12經，吳德耀校長公子) 擔任東海大學董事長時創立TEFA以來，TEFA的角色、定位、特別是與母校本身的關係，曾一度引起部分教職員與校友的困惑與質疑。經過前後任董事長吳清邁與林振國(前財政部長)的一再說明， 校友終於明白，TEFA是隸屬於東海大學董事會的募款機構，TEFA基金是Endowment Fund累積型永久基金---就是類似哈佛、耶魯、普林斯頓、芝加哥等美國著名私立大學的永久基金；募集的錢不立刻拿給學校，而是拿來生息、投資，然後再把孳息捐給學校。TEFA希望藉這種運作方式，創造較大利潤，以期日後對東海做更大、更永續性的奉獻。TEFA捐助章程也白紙黑字明確提到，如果哪天TEFA結束或不再運作時，TEFA全部資產將捐獻給東海大學。換言之，TEFA存在的唯一目的，就是為了幫助東海、提昇東海。

對東海校友來說，我們可以選擇直接捐款給母校，也可透過TEFA或TEFA USA（針對旅美校友）間接幫助東海。前者通常是用於硬體建設或購置儀器設備等，而TEFA則強調學術研究發展與人才培養，兩者方向雖有不同，但殊途同歸，目的都是為了幫助母校東海大學。TEFA目前補助重點包括獎助教授在國際權威刊物上發表論文，以及協助學弟妹創造更多海外學習機會，以培養未來具國際觀的菁英。當然，TEFA目前補助東海的這些重點計劃，是否最合乎東海所需或得到大部分捐款校友的認同，都有進一步檢討與改進的空間。

據多位校友反應與本人觀察，校友把捐款直接寄給學校，通常校方會在校刊公布捐款人姓名與捐款金額，但之後往往就石沈大海，沒有任何進一步消息，例如【東海綜合活動大樓】兩年來總共募款多少 ?達到多少百分比? 距募款目標還多遠 ? 等等問題,校友都很好奇，但都無從得知。又如前任王亢沛校長任內發起的【興建新校友會館募款活動】，似乎換了校長以後就再無下文，新校友會館到底還要不要蓋 ? 已經募得的捐款究竟何去何從？校方也都沒說明或交代。曾當選過東海「傑出校友」的郭東曜學長(3社)，是一位募款專家。郭東曜學長多年前在擔任台灣CCF（中華兒童福利基金會）執行長期間， CCF平均每天收到的捐款都超過一百萬台幤 (絕大部分是透過郵局劃撥進來的小額捐款 )。他說，募款最主要原則是要讓捐款人明確知道他們的捐款是怎麼用掉的？用到那裡去？相較之下，TEFA對捐款的使用則有評估及後續的追蹤與考核等過程，較合乎現代管理規則。

在美國，每年快到感恩節時，一般人通常會編列預算，捐款給自己屬意的社團機構或公益基金會，一來表示贊助支持之意，再者也可達到抵稅(節稅)目的，算是 「助人助己」、一舉兩得。其中，自己母校常被列入優先考慮的對象，尤其當母校今年各方面表現出色，或有振奮人心的好消息讓校友引以為榮時，則更有 「吸金」效果，校友出手必然就更大方。例如母校有教授榮獲諾貝爾獎，或足球隊籃球隊戰績輝煌，或打進季後賽，甚至拿到NCAA冠軍等，都令人興奮，說不定校友心情一好，就開出一張大支票。

很多校友對母校東海都有 「恨鐵不成鋼」的感慨，也一直期盼她能早日「止跌回升」，但畢竟時空環境不同了，要母校回到往日風光，可能還需一段時間，更重要的是還要大家（包括董事會、校長、在校師生與畢業的校友）共同努力。

台灣現在共有一百五十多所大學，可說大學林立，競爭相當激烈，加上目前流行的「少子化」趨勢 (結婚後不生小孩或小孩生的少)，顯然將對所有大學帶來衝擊，未來有些學校或系所將因少子化的原因而招不到學生，有人估計，十年後可能就有五分之一的大學被迫關門或合併。為此政府部門也開始考慮，到時候是否必須把一些大學改為政

府辦公處所或做為社會福利機構，甚至改為養老院。有朋友開玩笑說，東海若改成B老院，一定生意興隆，因為全台灣像東海環境這麼清幽、綠地這麼廣大的校園，還真的是絕無僅有。這雖屬玩笑，我聽了還是為之一震。我實在不敢想像東海哪一天居然會淪落到變成一家養老院 !

由於政府預算緊縮，今天連台灣的公立大學都被迫要自籌22%的預算，相較之下，東海﹐作為一個私立大學，先天上就沒有政府補助，於是學生學費就變成主要的收入來源。但對東海師生而言，學生學費僅能讓母校維持一個 “溫飽層次”的教育，若要提供師生更好的教學機會與環境，顯然還需要投注入更多額外的經費，因此向外界善心人士或企業募款﹐變成學校當局必須面對的挑戰與努力的方向。而畢業校友主動捐款顯然也越來越重要。

曾長期擔任東海校友聯絡室主任的陳瑞洲學長( 1政)，任內也負責對Ｓ训哪伎睢Ｋf過，向校友募款的基本前提是，學校本身一定要爭氣，要力爭上游，無論教學與研究都要力求表現，讓校友以做為東海人為榮。最起碼，要正正派派辦學，畢竟教育是百年樹人的大業，不要有負面或影響社會觀感的新聞出現，否則傳出之後校友捐款的意願馬上降低。過去每當東海有負面新聞見報時，他就強烈感受到校友的憤怒與不滿，那時候要再推動募款，當然就倍感吃力了。

東海校友在台灣各大學的畢業校友中，熱愛母校的作風可說是眾所周知，校友捐款固然一直持續不斷，其中百萬以上的捐款也時有所聞。以TEFA來說，創會董事、現任董事與卅多位榮譽董事，每人都捐過百萬甚或千萬台幤以上 (多年捐款累積)。兩年前、楊金山校友(17生)在母校五十周年校慶典禮上宣布五年內捐款一百萬美元，更是一段佳話。我們深為捐過鉅款校友們熱愛母校的具體行動所感動，也為他們的義行鼓掌。

但是，我們並不期望大家都這麼做，畢竟每個人的人生際遇不同，而且創業有成或賺大錢的畢竟是少數中的少數，絕大多數校友可能仍必須為生活奔波，為奉養長輩與教育子女而操勞。所以我們只盼望每一位校友在這感恩懷舊的季節裡，量力而行，或多或少有點表示，畢竟「樂捐」是快快樂樂的捐款，千萬不要有任何心理負擔，也不要給自己壓力。

教我「西洋近代史」的 東海 老師 Miss Adeline Brengle ，在她九十五歲那年，還從半個地球之外的美國印第安那州一家養老院寄一張20美元的支票給東海，每次想到 Miss Brengle這筆捐款，內心就無比的感動。 連美國 老師尚且如此熱愛東海，身為東海校友的我們，怎麼能無動於衷呢 ? *3

The State Budget Division is currently preparing a report on the most current state revenues as well as a timeline of past revenue cycles, which will be shared with state and local leaders on Wednesday during the Governor抯 budget meeting.*2

The meeting will provide an opportunity for participants to evaluate and discuss matters pertaining to the state budget, including actions taken to address anticipated revenue shortfalls.

About Governor James A. Gibbons:

Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons earned a B.S. in Geology and later, a M.S. in Mining/Geology from the University of Nevada at Reno. Gibbons received the MacKay School of Mines Alumnus of the Year Award in 1999, and remains an active supporter of Nevadaˇs university and community college system. He also earned his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law and completed his post-graduate work at the University of Southern California. Born and raised in Sparks, Nevada, Governor Jim Gibbons was a former United States Congressman. Jim was first elected to represent Nevada's 2nd District in the House of Representatives in 1996. He was re-elected to a fifth term in November 2004. Prior to coming to Congress, Gibbons gained a distinguished military background. A former combat pilot and decorated veteran of both the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars, Governor Gibbons served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971 and graduated from the USAF Air Command and Staff College as well as the Air War College. Attaining the rank of Colonel, Gibbons joined the Nevada Air Guard in 1975, and served as the group's Vice Commander from 1990 through 1996. Jim Gibbons served three terms in the Nevada State Legislature and was named 　霴utstanding Freshman Legislator　?his first year in 1988. By 1993, Gibbons rose through the ranks to become Republican Whip of the State Assembly. Jim Gibbons is Governor of Nevada starting from January 1, 2007. Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) has been well-recognized for its accomplishments in selecting outstanding professionals and individuals to participate and serve. Most of the above list of leaders and elected officials in Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) were announced and installed by Judge Denton at the Dinner Party held by WBTI at the Binion's Horseshoe Club on December 8, 2003 in Las Vegas.

The Graduate School of Business and Public Administration (GSBPA) is now one of the main institutions of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). "The mission of this School emphasizes the humanitarian orientation of public administration and the social responsibility of business management. Through academic entrepreneurship, we expect the School's endeavors to be achieved based on the human spirit, led by Chairperson Elaine Chao of WBTI," said Nevada Senator Dina Titus, Professor of Administrative Strategies in GSBPA.

"I want to thank you for my recent appointment as an Associate Fellow of the Public Administration Institution by Washington Business and Technology Institute. It is certainly an honor to be acknowledged by you for my commitment to serving this community. I look forward to expanding my public service by working with you and the Institute to continue to better our community. Your dedication is a wonderful example of what others should strive to accomplish," wrote LVSCP Attorney Natalie Tyrrell to Dr. Tony Lei from her Office. "I want to share with you my favoriate quote. It is by the great Winston Churchill. It exemplifies the driving force by which I start out each day. He said: 'We all make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.' Thank you for this honor and the wonderful dinner celebration." Natalie is now a Justice of the Peace of the Clark County Justice Court.

Community participation is an asset for enhancing public service. True leadership comes from knowing when one needs to depend on other's knowledge. Leaders are individuals who help people understand their motivations for doing things. They set the direction and understand why the direction is important. Dr. Tony T. Lei believes that in education leadership is a call to help others. He has the quality that inspires people to do what needs to be done and to feel good about doing it. Balanced with his outstanding academic expertise, he is a servant of God for community service, sincere and humble but not weak.*3

By loving, we are enriched. Love in action is service above self. Make service a part of character and experience the abundant reward that comes from serving others. Let us fan the flame of service in ever-increasing circles. With this, we can envision a community that is safe, peaceful, and healthy. District Judge of the Family Court Cheryl Moss said that, "I've remained dedicated to serving the community, and I've been inspired by the leadership, wisdom, and guidance of WBTI's Prsident Dr. Tony T. Lei. I recognized that Dr. Tony Lei's accomplishments have demonstrated that taking part in the community with ones kindness and selfless service can contribute excellence as well as make a difference in the society."

One of the important accomplishment of Dr. Tony T. Lei as a famous Professor of Management is the research and findings on computer education, institutional management, and the art of leading of his three notable books entitled "Information Management", "Business Management", and " Management Behavior".

"A good leader should acquire the ability of and execute the following seven management functions: 1. Planning: to plan important task project of this unit; 2. Organizing; to master the organoizational system of this unit; 3. Staffing: to recruit the appropriate staff members; 4. Directing: to direct the people on the staff of this unit; 5. Coodinating: to coordinate the benefits and conflicts of this unit in order to attain sound cooperation; 6. Representing: to reprent this unit in order to coordinate outside concerns and relationships; 7. Budgeting: to establish and control the budget of this unit; 8. Systematizing: to use management information system throuh computers and multimedia for our modern business," says Dr. Tony Lei.

"There are three models of leadership that a good leader, especially the leader of an association, may emphasize: A. Creative Leadership: The leader takes the most importance of holding the great principles to develop the future endeavor of this unit. (1) Sense of Mission -- to make the members not work as a job but high degree of the "concept of value"; (2) Foresightness -- to develop the future blueprint for this unit; (3) Teamwork Spirit -- to motivate the cooperation and success of the whole group; (4) Orientation by Objectives -- to encourage all the members unit put full effort on its clear and definite objectives," continues Dr. Tony Lei.

"B. Humanity Leadership: the leader emphasizes the importance of his or her relationship with the abordinates. He or she motivates their work morality and spirit. Therefore, he or she should understand, emphasize, and hold of humanity in order to promote everyone's potentiality to endeavor for this unit. The key points are: 1. Trust; 2. Delegation of authority; 3. The Second Chance Theory (to pardon your subordinate);
4. Encouragement; 5. Help and Care; 6. Support and Assistance; 7. Training and Education.

"C. Democratic Leadership: The leader respects humanity and allows individual development to make his or her group members cooperate and work by division of labor with self-motion and self-revelation. Its specialties are:

1. The leader endeavors to win followers by himself or herself with good personality and emphasizes knowledge and experience as the foundation of leading. 2. Subordinates have a full opportunity to participate decisionmaking and to suggest good idea. 3. The leader puts attention to the benefit of the subordinates, understand their needs, focuses the importance of the people. 4. The leader gives only some direction on the work planning, and leave the details of the work processing to the subordinates. 5. The leader has full opportunity to participate in employees activities, and they get along with each other very well. 6. The communication between the leader and subordinates is fully in good condition, and they enjoy fruitful accomplishment with good understanding. 7. The division of labor is decided by the group and the subordinates have the right selecting their work accompanists with the direction and coordination of their leader by their side. 8. The leader evaluates the performance of his or her subordinates objectively and renders fair judgement in giving prize or punishment."

"Practically, the effectiveness of the above leadership can be attained by its flexible application in accordance with the right time, place, matter, people, and objective situation," pointed out Dr. Tony Lei.*4

"In righteousness you will be established."*5 "In this 21th Century new era and society, we need economic growth, but we also need to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure spring may prosper and enrich our splendid and golden country through: the power of public service that based on 'knowledge is the power of righteouness,'; the advancement of technology, entreneurship, and innovation; and the spirit that 'knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service'," says President Dr. Tony T. Lei.

"It is truly an honor to be a part of this organization, as it plays an important role in identifying, researching, and addressing the issues facing our community. Your leadership and dedication to the community are to be commended, and I look forward to working with you and the Institute in this new capacity. Most of the faculty members in the Public Administration Institution (PAI) have been the revelators of this special trait during their elections. Many of them won the highest votes at their judicial and general elections. In joining the Institute as a faculty member, she or he enjoys the rebounded and fruitful experience of academic research and community service. "This position (Fellow of the PAI of WBTI) will undoublely porvide me with avenues for exploring improvements in public services to which I am most dedicated," said District Judge Valorie Vega after the winning of election in 2000.*6

"As Director of Public Administration Institution (PAI), it's my privilege to share a leadership role with Dr. Tony Lei and to have wonderful cooperation of all the faculty since PAI's establishment. Innovative in integrating his expertise in institutional management and spiritual value in education, Dr. Tony Lei's wisdom and efforts toward community service and academic endeavor have been very valuable. We expect the forthcoming work performance of Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum (PPAAF) founded by this Institute to help improve the quality of life of the people and to contribute to the peosperity of this State," Said Dr. William Thompson.*7 Bill is former Chairman and now Professor of the Department of Public Administration of UNLV.

Nancy A. Becker was appointed by WBTI as a Fellow of PAI on May 2, 2000. Nancy received her Juris Doctorate degree from George Washington University National Law Center in 1979. At the time of her appointment, she was a Justice of Nevada Supreme Court. She was then the Chief Justice of Nevada Supreme Court after a few years. "It's our honor to invite a famous person of Justice Nancy Becker's excellenct caliber whose expertise, integrity, and good personal traits will bring this Institute wih a perspective of millennium," said Dr. Tony Lei on May 18, 2000. "Throughout her distinguished career, she has accomplished a great deal of judicial practices together with social services and has earned a good reputation of conscientious and dedicated professionalism."

Nancy has completed her Justiceship early this year. She is the recipient of numerous honors.

"As you know, I've begun to learn and practise leading skills through my college life. I'm deeply impressed by the valuable practicality and theoreticality of the leading skills proclaimed and inspired by Washington Business and Technology Institute. During my three victories of the past elections since he moved to Las Vegas from Los Angeles, Dr. Tony Lei have been one of my great supporters with his outstanding knowledge and wisdom," said U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley.

"Under the recommendation of President Dr. Tony Tung-tien Lei, Taiwan Benevolent Association of America and Ms. Wendy Yu-ping Wu have received Greeting Letters from U. S. Senator John Ensign and U. I hope that, during your time here, you will be able to experience some of the many attractions that our beautiful city has to offer. .....," wrote U. S. "It's my great honor to be named by President Dr. Tony Lei as the Honorary Chairman of Clark County District and Police Civil Commission (CCDAPCC) of Washington Business and Technolgy Institute (WBTI)," pointed out the Chief Justice of Nevada Supreme Court William Maupin at the Celebration Party to "Nevada Examiner" and "Reviewjournal.com" at the Steak House of Binion's Horseshoe Club, Las Vegas on October 10, 2002. The Party was held by WBTI to celebrate William Maupin's being appointed as its Fellow of the Public Administration Institution (PAI) and as its Honorary Chairman of the Clark County District Attorney and Police Civil Commission (CCDAPCC). "Please know that I irrevocably stand by my personal commitment to diversity issues in this state and that my sense of patriotism and faith in America stems from its embrace of that diversity."

On September 23, 2002, District Attorney Stewart Bell wrote President Dr. Tony Tung-tien Lei that "Dear Dr. Lei, I am honor and prviledged to accept your appointment as Honorary Chairman and Senior Advisor of the Clark County Distrct Attorney and Police Civil Commission (CCDAPCC) of the Washington Business and Technology Institute. "Asian Pacific American have made profound contributions to American life, including the arts, economy, education, science, technology, politics, and sport. This community was here to help build trascontinental railroad, to serve in the Civil War, and to develop the latest Internet technology. Ring in the New Year with fellow alumni, parents and friends! Come and share in the excitement of the internationally-acclaimed 119th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade.

This year抯 theme, "Passport to the World's Celebrations" will be sure to delight and amaze parade-watchers of all ages. You will view the brilliant, floral floats and enjoy the parade from our reserved Grand Stand seating at the corner of East Colorado and Sierra Madre Boulevard.
