In all three services at ROLCC on February 4, 2007, Rev. Tong Liu introduced the 2007 new Board of Directors. Director Mr. John K. Lei is the Chairman of the new Board. Director Mr. Gerry Liu is the Treasurer. Director Mr. Daniel Chou is the Corporate Secretary. Director Linda Pao is responsible for Human Resources. Director Robert Huang is responsible for Missions. LIVERight, a community service HBV free blood screen/seminar took place on Saturday, 1/13 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. This was a joint effort between Asian Liver Center (ALC) at Stanford University and Holiday Plaza Series at River of Life Christian Church (ROLCC). We are really thankful that this collaboration was a great success. ALC and ROLCC are embracing the same vision in serving the community via community awareness seminar/blood screen on one of the biggest killers, hepatitis B/liver cancer in Asian community. We had 238 people screened over the event; approximately 400 audiences came for the presentation. At large or little, we knew we had made the difference.

Miss Ying-Min Huang was the audiovisual conductor. Its prinouts are now published at the end of her Section.

The Coffee/Tea Fellowship on every week in August 2006 was highlightened by the "to serve and to give heartily" of Lei's family: John helped promote the Sevice and Fellowship. Judy coocked the whole things of the "Chau Mien" and prepared the salad. Tony has inspired its spirit and value.

On a previous Sunday, Mr. David Whitney prayed, announced news, and introduced Mr. John Lei to present the Togo Mission through video. John spoke that, "Enthusiastic responses were shown by the people of the several villages that we visited. In one of them, we had more than thirty of them baptized. During the trip, we hsd more than 40 of them surrendered to believe God. The whole mission was very blessed. They were so joyful. Praise God! God worked with us during the mission through our glorification in His name." The video and presentation were very nice.

After taking a look at the WBTI's website, Mrs. Savina Kao wrote to us that, "Now I know why John becomes such an outstanding young man. :) It's also wonderful to know that your organization has been serving the community and our country." Rev. Lin preached the subject vividly on three sections: (1) Get rid of those old attitudes; (2) Start expecting the favor and goodness of God; and (3) See with your spiritual eyes.

Rev. Cheng preached the above subject significantly on three sections: (1) Men and woman who understand their times; (2) Men and women who know what they should do; and (3) Men and women who influence their generation.

Asian American communitiy had been united together to hold an event and dinner party successfully to honor U. S. Senator Harry Reid. More than 384 against the 250 planned individuals of government officials, business owners and executives, organizational leaders among others attended the party at the Asia Palace Chinese Restaurant on August 24, 2001. The Kenote Speaker was U. S. Senator Harry Reid. Guests of Honor presented were: U. S. Senator John Ensign (by Sonia Joya), U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley, U. S. Congressman Jim Gibbons (by Judith Ray), and Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa.

U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley introduced Senator Harry Reid to the public with his successfully story to be the greatest political leader of Nevada arsing from the son of an ordinary family of mining worker. The first time as an honorable Master of Ceremony for Asian American community, Shelley' attractiveness and talent are really professional. She has been famous of her arts of leading on social activities since her college life.

According to the prepared introduction by Congresswoman Berkley to the Party, "Dr. Tony Lei received his M.B.A. and Doctor of Education in Institutional Management degrees from Pepperdine University in 1969 and 1980, respectively. He had been an Associate Professor and a Fellow of Management of the Graduate School of Business Administration of National Chung Hsing University and Pepperdine University from 1985 to 1991 and 1991 to 1996, respectively." *20

All these advancement in science and technology, should be used to inspire the promotion of the quality of our daily life. Dear Friends,

America is the land of opportunity. The beauty of our country is that anyone from anywhere, regardless of the color of their skin or native language can become successful. And, one of the most fundamental building blocks for success is mastery of the English language.

I recently learned about the Department of Education’s nearly $2 million reduction to Nevada’s funding allocation for students learning English. Unfortunately, these allocations are determined by a formula established in the No Child Left Behind Act. This formula is based on annual estimates from the U.S. Census, and the methodology for counting English-language learners (ELL) has proven to be flawed and inaccurate. As school officials in Nevada can attest, our state has seen a dramatic increase in the number of ELL students, not a decrease. We need to make sure that Nevada has the resources it needs for those who want to learn English. Cutting funds works against that very principle.

I’m doing my part to address this critical issue. Today, I led Nevada's congressional delegation in sending a letter to U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings expressing disappointment with the decrease in funding, despite our state’s rapidly growing ELL student population. I am committed to working through the reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) to develop proposals to more accurately count Nevada’s ELL students so that our schools have the resources they need to ensure that all students become proficient in English.

I will leverage my position as Majority Leader to ensure Nevadans are afforded these opportunities. This is an important program that helps people transition to English.

While visiting the city of Laughlin today, Governor Jim Gibbons*1 will announce his intent to include $5 million in the budget he will present to the Nevada State Legislature in 2009 to replenish funds spent from the Fort Mojave Development Account by the Colorado River Commission.

These are funds that rightfully belong to the community of Laughlin. This account will help the Mojave Valley continue the progress and development that is already underway,? said Congressman Jon Porter.

“This is a major development for the residents of Laughlin. I really appreciate the Governor’s willingness to step in and help resolve this matter. This money was clearly intended to be utilized for the benefit of Laughlin,? said State Senator Warren Hardy. “When provided with all the facts, the Governor immediately understood that and moved very quickly to help correct the injustice that occurred.?

“I am gratified that the good folks of Laughlin have been heard in their reasonable arguments to restore their Fort Mojave Development funds. This has been a good example of how government should work to right wrongs. Concerned citizens made their case with local, county and state officials all working together to get the money back to where it was intended. By continuing to work in concert, we should be able to further protect and restore the funds in the next legislative session,? said Assemblyman Joe Hardy.*3

I have never seen anything quite like the response to the emails from Bill and me last week -- apparently a lot of people want to come over for lunch at our place! Thank you for the amazing support you have shown my campaign.

I'm sorry we can't have everyone over who wanted to come, but I'm delighted to announce the winner: Julie from Milford, Ohio will be coming over for lunch with a guest soon. I'm really looking forward to it, and I'll be sure to let you know what we talked about.

On Labor Day weekend, Bill and I had the chance to campaign with Ron Wood and Michelle Smith, the two winners of our One Million Strong contest. We had a fantastic time with Ron and Michelle in Iowa. It was a wonderful reminder of how many people are standing with me in this race, and I wanted to share the experience with you. Take a look at a video of the day my campaign put together here:

Come welcome the 2007-2008 basketball season, and to celebrate all of Pepperdine’s athletic teams. This annual tradition will start at 7 pm with pre-madness fun in the Madness Village at Firestone Fieldhouse on the Malibu campus. Bring your families to enjoy free food and carnival activities. Suit up for the Orange or the Blue team with your complimentary t-shirt and various Spirit Flair booths along the way. The family-friendly main event starts at 8:45 pm. A full four quarters of thrill-packed fun will ensue, complete with high-intensity scrimmaging, celebrity appearances, dance-team performances, contests, high-priced giveaways, prizes, and more. "At the Holiday Season, our thoughts turn graduatefully to those who have made our vision possible," wrote Margaret and Joe Weber.*7 Dr. Margaret J. Weber is Dean of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology of Pepperdine University. For several years, she served as associate dean of research and graduate studies at Oklahoma State University's College of Human and Environmental Sciences. Selected in 2001 to direct the Graduate School, Dean Weber has had a career in research, teaching, and university administration. She is an expert on the socialization of graduate students, and faculty development – just two of many topics that Dean Weber has covered in published articles. She is an administrator and strong advocate of the scholar-practitioner model of learning which educates students in theory as well as practical application. As the Dean, she has effectively and successfully led GSEP for many years.

"Chester's scholarly expertise to join advising my dissertation, 'A study of the impact of enrollment in a computer science class on mahematics scores and attendance in a secondary school', through the excellency of his quantitative research and methodology helped bring it for me with creative findings. I thank and respect him heartily," said Dr. Tony Lei.*8
