*77777lmn

Ceasefire in Yemen!
By Hillary R. Clinton

Secretary of State
Washington, DC
February 15, 2010

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

***** The United States welcomes the ceasefire in the conflict between the Government of Yemen and the Houthi rebels. We understand that a mediation commission representing all parties is monitoring compliance with the terms of the ceasefire and beginning the urgent process of reconciliation and reconstruction needed to bring this conflict to a permanent end.

The United States remains concerned about the humanitarian situation in the area, including the approximately 250,000 Yemenis displaced by the fighting. To assist displaced Yemenis, the United States has thus far provided $19.3 million during fiscal years 2009 and 2010. We urge other donor nations to support international relief agencies.

The United States supports a unified, stable, democratic and prosperous Yemen. We have significantly increased assistance to address the political, economic and security challenges that Yemen faces, and the President requested further increases in his recent budget proposal. We will continue to cooperate with international partners, including through the Friends of Yemen process, to ensure that the Yemeni people enjoy the benefits of political, economic and social reforms and achieve their long-term development goals.

To all the Peace Loving People:

Happy Chinese New Year; Peace with with you also

physically, mentally & spiritually (if you're a

believer, all inclusive not just catholics). I leave Dali Lama out for Budda to judge him. Budda probably would tell him to stop making noises while Budda is Teaching or else he'd be kicked out of His Temple. For thse Trouble Makers, they would have any blessing as they are too busy for that. May they havest what they make, keep all that for themselves & enjoy what they sew!!

***** SECRETARY CLINTON: Thank you very much. It is, indeed, an honor to be here, to be part of this U.S.-Islamic World Forum.

And I thank you for all of the kind words and good wishes for my husband, who is doing fine. He is in great shape. All is well, or I would not be here this evening. And he sends his best greetings to each and every one of you, and particularly to you, Your Highness. I told the Emir that, on my way to the airport today, the last instruction I received from my husband was to give his very best regards to you, Your Highness. And it is a great pleasure to convey them, both publicly and privately, and to be here with you and with the Prime Minister and the government of Qatar to, once again, engage again in this important effort to strengthen the dialogue between our countries and our people.

Senator Harry Reid - Putting Nevada First
By Harry M. Reid

Dear Fellow Nevadan,

Today, I introduced a Jobs Bill in the Senate that will help put Nevadans back to work, cut taxes for business, and invest in job-creating transportation projects in our state.*1

The bill creates tax incentives for businesses to hire new workers, and it puts Americans to work rebuilding our bridges and roads. Importantly, this legislation is paid-for, meaning it does not add to the national deficit. Improving our economy is my top priority, and I think this legislation is an important step in that process.

As we work to dig ourselves out of this economic crisis, we have important work to do to ensure that banks are treating consumers fairly and not engaging in the risky behavior that caused this crisis. This month, the credit card reform bill we passed last year will take effect. The very same banks that taxpayers kept afloat to prevent an economic disaster took advantage of hardworking Americans by doubling and tripling their interest rates. We put a stop to these abuses by passing this legislation, and the law抯 enactment comes not a moment too soon.

I also successfully pushed the Housing Department to send a Foreclosure SWAT Team to Nevada to help struggling homeowners stay in their homes; and I抦 encouraging banks to take similar action. I convened a meeting yesterday with Nevada抯 top housing experts to get their advice on our state抯 housing crisis, and believe we now have a clearer picture of what we must do to improve the situation.

On another note, I am happy to share that this morning, I testified at the confirmation hearing of Judge Gloria Navarro to be Nevada抯 next Federal Judge. It was my privilege to nominate an extremely qualified individual to this important position and I look forward to her swift confirmation.

Thank you for reading this update. Please visit my website to learn more.

HARRY REID
United States Senator for Nevada

You fight, we'll fight!
By Mitch Stewart

To: mike lei and all (tojulei@yahoo.com)

mike --

As we head into an election year, the new strategy for killing reform is claiming that members of Congress who vote for it will suffer at the polls.

For months, our opponents have spread lies about reform to scare voters away. But the simple truth about what reform would actually do -- save jobs, guarantee all Americans affordable, stable coverage, and significantly reduce the deficit -- is something most Americans strongly support.

The question is, come November, will the voters know the facts?

OFA supporters have asked for a way to show every member of Congress that if they fight for reform now, we'll back them up this election season.

That's why we're launching "You fight, we'll fight" -- a volunteer pledge bank where you can commit your time to back up candidates and officials who fight hard for health reform.

We're shooting for 1,000,000 hours pledged to spread the word to fellow voters. And if we get there, we'll publish the total hours pledged in USA Today, so there will be no doubt that health reform is both good policy and good politics.

Can you pledge right away?

President Obama has made it crystal clear that he has no intention of walking away from health reform -- and this movement has made its desire to fight on just as clear.

And many members of Congress are already working hard by his side to get the job done. But for those on the fence about whether or not to proceed, knowing you are there to back up a courageous stand can make all the difference.

Your volunteer hours can have a huge impact no matter where you live. You can make calls into critical districts where health reform champions are in jeopardy, write letters to the editor, volunteer for nearby campaigns, or even just talk to friends, family, and neighbors to help cut through the special interest spin.

We'll offer lots of ways to get involved between now and the elections in November, and you can decide which are right for you -- the important thing right now is to publicly show your commitment to fight for those who make health reform a reality.

Please help us hit our ambitious goal of one million volunteer hours pledged:

http://my.barackobama.com/YouFight

We've certainly faced setbacks in this fight. But as President Obama told OFA supporters last week, that only means we need to work that much harder.

Thanks for making it possible,

Mitch

Press Releases: Statement on Developments in the Middle East
Thu, 11 Feb 2010 14:15:40 -0600

Statement by Secretary Clinton on Developments in the Middle East

Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of State
Washington, DC

February 11, 2010

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I spoke today with Quartet Representative Blair to discuss developments in the Middle East.

This Administration has, from the beginning, worked to bring about comprehensive peace in the Middle East, including a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. On that issue our approach has been three-fold: (1) to help build the economy and capacity to govern of a Palestinian state; (2) to renew political negotiations to enable the earliest possible establishment of that state; and (3) to achieve these in a manner that ensures the security of Israel and of the Palestinians.

Consistent with Prime Minister Fayyad~{!/~}s plan for a future Palestinian state, Tony Blair, as the Quartet representative, will intensify his partnership with Senator Mitchell in support of the political negotiations. In his role as Quartet Representative Tony Blair will continue, with full support by and coordination with Senator Mitchell, to mobilize the efforts of the international community: (1) to build support for the institutional capacity and governance of a future Palestinian State, including on the rule of law; (2) to improve freedom of movement and access for Palestinians; (3) to encourage further private sector investment; and (4) to bring change in the living conditions of the people in Gaza.

>>>>>>> *7878777
