On July 11, 2009 in Tokyo, Charg~{(&~} d~{!/~}Affaires ad interim of the United States of America James P. Zumwalt and Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone exchanged Notes pertaining to the transfer of funds provided by the Government of Japan to the United States Government in accordance with the Agreement on the Relocation of United States Marine Corps Personnel from Okinawa to Guam, signed by Secretary of State Clinton and Foreign Minster Nakasone on February 17, 2009. *1

Based on the exchanged Notes, the Government of Japan will provide $336 million to the United States Government during FY2009 to be used for projects to develop facilities and infrastructure on Guam for the relocation of 8,000 U.S. Marines and their dependents from Okinawa to Guam. This is a significant step forward towards implementation of the realignment package. *2

The United States Government remains committed to the full implementation of the realignment package as agreed in the May 1, 2006 Realignment Roadmap.*3

Reedy has worked for the State of Nevada for 19 years, starting as an account clerk in the Treasurer~{!/~}s Office while Bob Miller was Governor. During Ms. Reedy~{!/~}s tenure at the Treasurer~{!/~}s Office she was responsible for the investment and debt portfolios as Chief Deputy Treasurer. During her career at the Treasurer~{!/~}s Office, Ms. Reedy coordinated the lease purchase concept at the State level giving the State of Nevada taxpayers the ability to own a building versus renting space. Reedy is presently Deputy Director at the Nevada Department of Business and Industry overseeing 14 different Divisions which are regulatory in nature and also involve business development. She will begin her new job as Chief of Staff for Governor Jim Gibbons on Monday July 13th.*2
