Born and raised in Sparks, Nevada, United States Congressman Jim Gibbons was first elected to represent Nevada's 2nd District in the House of Representatives in 1996. He was re-elected to a fifth term in November 2004. Congressman Gibbons earned a B.S. in Geology and later, a M.S. in Mining/Geology from the University of Nevada at Reno. Gibbons remains an active alumnus of his alma mater and received the MacKay School of Mines Alumnus of the Year Award in 1999. He also earned his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law and completed his post-graduate work at the University of Southern California.*3

In the 109th Congress, Gibbons serves on three committees: The House Resources Committee (Chairman of the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee), the Armed Services Committee, and the Committee on Homeland Security. Congressman Gibbons' committee assignments place him in a prime position to represent the varied interests of Nevadans, including water, mining, energy, ranching and grazing issues, as well as the future of the nation's premier military training bases, Fallon NAS and Nellis AFB. Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Gibbons has also taken a leading role in securing our homeland by introducing legislation in October 2001 which would become the basis for the Homeland Security Act that created the Department of Homeland Security.

Gibbons also serves on several Congressional Caucuses. He is the founding member and Co-Chairman of the Congressional Mining Caucus and Co-Chairman of the Gaming Caucus. He also is an active member on: Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, the Western Caucus, Rural Caucus, Air Force Caucus, National Guard and Reserve Components Caucus, Travel and Tourism Caucus, Caucus on Community Health Centers, Cancer Caucus, the Caucus to Fight and Control Methamphetamine, and the Automotive Performance and Motorsports Caucus.

Prior to coming to Congress, Gibbons gained a distinguished military background. A former combat pilot and decorated veteran of both the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars, Congressman Gibbons served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971 and graduated from the USAF Air Command and Staff College as well as the Air War College. Attaining the rank of Colonel, Gibbons joined the Nevada Air Guard in 1975, and served as the group's Vice Commander from 1990 through 1996.

Throughout his military service, Gibbons received 19 service medals, including the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Aerial Achievement Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster. He was also awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his extraordinary achievement while participating as an RF-4C Flight Leader in the Gulf War. On this mission, Gibbons flew his unarmed aircraft on a vital reconnaissance mission to acquire politically sensitive imagery of enemy targets in Kuwait.

Mr. Gibbons was also a commercial pilot for Western Airlines where he was employed from 1979 to 1987, and Delta Airlines where he worked from 1987 to 1997. His extensive resume also includes working as a hydrologist for the Federal Water Master, a mining and exploration geologist, a mining and water rights attorney in Nevada, and a state legislator.

Mr. Gibbons served three terms in the Nevada State Assembly. In 1988, his first year as a state legislator, he was named "Outstanding Freshman Legislator." Five days after earning another term to serve in the Nevada State Legislature, Mr. Gibbons received the call to report for active combat duty in the Persian Gulf War. He returned home in April of 1991 to a thunderous welcome from the people of Nevada and soon resumed his fight for his constituents in the State Legislature. In 1993, Mr. Gibbons rose to Republican Whip in the State Assembly, and in 1994, he was the Republican nominee for Governor. In 1998, his wife, Dawn Gibbons ran successfully for the Nevada State Assembly.

In 1994, Gibbons authored the Gibbons Tax Restraint Initiative. As a private citizen, he collected 85,000 signatures from residents across Nevada to place a ballot question before the voters to amend the State Constitution. An overwhelming majority of Nevada voters (78% in 1994 and 71% in 1996) supported the amendment to the Nevada Constitution which requires a 2/3 super-majority to increase any state tax.

Congressman Gibbons resides in Reno with his wife, Dawn. They have three children, Christopher, Jennifer, and Jimmy, and two grandchildren.*4

"Education is very important. Onece I am the Governor of this lovely silver State, I'll endeavor to help many people realize their American dream. American dream to me means that I can have good education, fine job (or business), and lovely kids," pointed out Jim in the Business Mixer on April 23, 2006.

"It's my great pleasure and honor to be named by Dr. Tony Lei as a Fellow of Public Administration Institution and Honorary Chairman of CCDAPCC of WBTI. Please know that I irrevocably stand by my personal commitment to diversity issues in this state and that my sense of patriotism and faith in America stems from its embrace of that diversity," said A. William Maupin, Chief Justice of Nevada Supreme Court in an event and dinner party held at the Steak House of Binion's Horseshoe Club, Las Vegas on October 10, 2002. The Party was held by Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) to celebrate Justice William Maupin's being appointed as its Fellow of the Public Administration Institution (PAI) and as its Honorary Chairman of the Clark County District Attorney and Police Civil Commission (CCDAPCC).*5

"As the Director of Public Administration Institution (PAI) of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI), I've shared a pleasant leadership with Dr. Tony Lei cooperated by all the Faculty members of this Institution since it's establishment on January 18, 2000. Innovated in integreting his expertise in institutional management and spiritual value in education, Dr. Lei's effort and wisdom for the community service in Nevada in the recent eight years have been very valuable. We expect Pan Pacific and Asian American Forum (PPAAF) founded by this Institute in September 28, 2001 will contribute to improve the quality of life of the people and the prosperity of this State of Nevada," said Dr. William Thompson, former Chairman and now Professor of the Department of Public Administration of UNLV, at a Party held by WBTI in the Gee Joon Chinese Restaurant of Horseshoe Club on January 28, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nevada.*6

It is significant for Dr. Kenny C. Guinn to write President Dr. Tony Lei of WBTI as in the following:

"It is only with the dedication and commitment of good people like yourself that I will achieve my goal of becoming Governor of this great state. Dema and I can't thank you enough for your assistance and your positive activivities in the community." *7

A (concise) Message from President Dr. Andrew Benton of Pepperdine University, U. S. A.
By Dr. Andrew K. Benton*1

Promise are important to our community. The promise we make today provide the foundation for the work we will do tomorrow. Faithfulness to our heritage ennobles and illuminates all that we do. I have not forgotten the pormise I made in my inaugural address as I took office in the year 2000.*2

Since beginning the leadership opportunity, I continue to believe that our greatest challenge are contained in the areas of resources, deversity, heritage, community, and scholarship. We have managed our resources well during this challenging period. We have increased our diversity.

I think our heritage provides light, really good light, for learning. We illumininate lives with immutable truths and notions of oughtness and rightness. We ask no quarter in our competition with the finest, shinning institutions of learning in America, and we offer the brilliance and the unique dimension of values in our classes. We invite the presence of God in the midst of all that we do: that, more than anything else, lights our way.

As much as I feel urgency about other things, I feel urgency about fidelity and constancy and stewarship in our heritage of faith. there is power in imagery, and there is power in words. Here are some of the most powerful works I've seen --- our mission statement:

"Pepperdine is a christian university committed to the highest standards of academic excellence and Christian values, where students are strenghtened for lives of purpose, service, and leadership."*3

Innovative marketing for business
By Tiffany Chang and PAI of WBTI*1

Innovation is practical for a real need. It is not a random process. "When it works, it works because someone has identified a real need, and found a way to bring new ideas or new technologies to bear on that need," said Lewis W. Lehr. An innovator's life is governed by "to create" lists. She or he is incessantly pursuing new possibilities and refinning existing ones.

We are pleased to quote the following three short but meaningful ones:

***** Make a technical contribution, innovate, don't emulate. ---David Packard

***** Any business that does not learn how to innovate within the next few years will not be around by the year 2000. ---Peter F. Drucker

***** Innovation has to be linked to a market-driven mentality, tied in with customer needs. It can't be done in a vacuum, or as innovation for its own sake. ---Jim Beard*2

It's our pleasure to post a short story from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren:

"Business has only two functions," writes Peter Drucker, "marketing and innovation."
Consider these phrases posted on separate roadside signs: A peach looks good...with lots of fuzz... but man's no peach... and never was... Burma Shave! In 1925, Burma Shave knew they had a great product but were ineffective in marketing it. So, their roadside advertising was implemented. Today, the Burma Shave commercial are highly recognized as memorable trivia.
Here's another exemplary approach combining innovation and unique marketing. A small garage-based company took a single product, biodegradable soap, broke the customary marketing trends and amassed a fortune.
Using multi-level marketing, Amway left its competitors green with envy. First, they produced a quality product, developed unique packaging, attached distinctive labeling, and then used direct salespeople to sell their product. It is working to the tune of an estimated $1 billion in annual revenues.
Domino's Pizza shocked the industry with their original idea: "Guaranteed delivery in 30 minutes or $3.00 off."Quick service is now a minimum standard in the food industry.
Innovative marketing-could it be the third function of business?*3

Innovation is one of the most important traits for the prosperity of American business. Hope our Pan Pacific and Asian countries may catch it as soon as possible!

U. S. SECRETARY OF LABOR ELAINE CHAO: "Giving people hope in their future is our job."
---She kicked off a National Hispanic Worker initiative with a $1.9 million grant
By PAI of WBTI*1

At the invitation of the Chinese Ministry of Labor and Social Security, U. S. Secretary of Labor, Ms. Elaine Chao, visited China from June 21 to 24 in 2004. The U. S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao said in Beijing on Thursday, June 24, 2004 that her visit to China was fruitful.

"Chao signed four agreements during her trip to enhance cooperation in raising the living standard and working conditions for employees. She also announced the US would donate 3.5 million US dollars to China to help combat AIDS through workplace education program," reported the Xinhua News Agency on Thursday, June 24, 2004.*2

"She hoped through exchanging information, the two sides can raise living standards for workers, foster safe working environment for workers, and protect workers' rights in accordance with relevant international labor principles while respecting the national laws of both the United States and China," the Agency continued.*3

"Incentives brings us with encouragement. Encouragement brings us with good work performance. In the 5:19 on Ecclesiastes of the Bible, it stated that 'When God gives any man (or woman) wealth and possessions, and enable him (or her) to enjoy them, to accept his (or her) lot and be happy in his (or her) work---this is a gift of God,'*4" said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).

Ms. Elaine Chao, U. S. Secretary of Labor, kicked off a National Hispanic Worker initiative with a $1.9 million grant on March 16, 2004. The grant is geared to recruit and motivate workers for Southern Nevada's gaming and hospitality industry.

U. S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao and Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn said that the new program and grants are as important to employers as they are to immigrant workers at the time when they spoke at Nevada Partners headquarters in North Las Vegas.

"New York - New York President Felix Rappaport, who serves on the board of the Culinary Training Academy that will oversee the grant, said the programs will help employers recruit workers. In addition, he said the new effort will help employers better motivate employees and improve the quality of hotel service, which he called key to the gaming industry."*5

Secretary Chao said that they looked at the need of Hispanic workers to access an array of programs when U. S. President Bush took office. "We looked at clusters where we could be of great service. We started a dialogue with (HERE) President (John) Willhelm. I came here and was very impressed with the programs he had put together. And really a confluence of factors and events (led to the program and grant) we announced today," Ms. Chao said.*6

"Getting people back to work is what this Department does. Giving people hope in their future is our job," said Secretary Elaine L. Chao.

Ms. Elaine Chao, the bright executive administrator of Bush's Reign, told the audience of several hundred Culinary workers that she remembers comings to the United States at her age of eight. She could not speak any English at that time. Secretary Chao said mastering the language was key to her success as a Peace Corps volunteer, head of United Way, and government service.

"She said the new program is designed to support immigrants with the same skills, help workers advance professionally and assist employers in matching placement needs with prospective workers." *7

Governor Guinn said the new programs will help employers find workers and help the employees quality for new jobs and advancement. He told the audience that the grant recognizes the success of the effective training programs that has been practiced and enjoyed here in Nevada.

"The technology that is helping to drive our robust productivity growth is changing the way we work and the types of jobs that are available. This Administration wants to ensure that our job training programs are relevant and that workers are encouraged to continually update their skills," pointed out Secretary Elaine Chao on the "Remarks Prepared for Delivery by
U. S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao
for AEI Conference --- The Benefits of Increased Productivity Growth for Workers," in Washington, D. C. on Wednesday, February 25, 2004. *8

"I recently returned from a trip to Washington and Oregon and talked with workers who were graduates of community college-based job-training programs. One young man told us that he lost his job in the California high-tech industry when the bubble burst and moved back home to Oregon. He learned about a special program at his local community college that partnered with a top Fortune 500 information technology company to train workers with skills in short supply. Today, thanks to that program, he is working for that company," said the Secretary.

"His story and those of many other workers around the country is the reason why the Labor Department's number one legislative priority this year is reforming the public workforce investment system that helps train workers. The goal is to bring this program into the 21st century so workers can be trained for real jobs in the real world."*9

At the age of 19, Elaine Chao was elected as a Scholar of the U. S. White House. U. S. Labor Secretary Chao was Chairperson of Federal Air Transportation and Vice President of Bank of American Main Office. In addition, she has contributed many years of community service and charity endeavor notably, as President of United Way, President of Peace Corps, and Senior Fellow of Heritage Foundation.*10

Secretary Chao received her B. A. degree in Economics with straight A's for all her four years at the famous Mount Holyoke College in New England. She obtained her M. B. A. degree from Harvard University in 1979. She also studied at M.I.T., Dartmouth College, and Columbia University.

At the time she was nominated by President Bush as the Secretary of Labor, she told her father that she does not intend to be an "Authoritative Official". She hoped that she could contribute to our society and nation.*11

Secretary Chao has received numerous awards for her professional accomplishments and community service. She is the recipient of 21 honorary doctoral degrees from colleges and universities around the world.

Secretary Chao is married to the Majority Whip of the United States Senate, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

"Elaine L. Chao is the nation's 24th Secretary of Labor, representing a new generation of American leadership. Since her confirmation by the United States Senate on January 29, 2001, she has been dedicated to carrying out the Department of Labor's mission of inspiring and protecting the hardworking people of America. She is respected as an effective and articulate champion of the nation's contemporary workforce, acting quickly to focus the Labor Department on the modern realities of workers' lives."*12

"When President George W. Bush nominated Elaine L. Chao, the first Asian-American woman appointed to a President's cabinet in U.S. history, he described her as an individual with strong executive talent, compassion, and commitment to helping people build better lives."

According to the U. S. Department of Labor, Secretary Elaine Chao's compassionate nature stems from her own background as an immigrant to this country at the age of eight. Her family's experience transitioning to a new country, supported by one another and the kindness of friends and neighbors, taught her that encouragement is the key to fostering independence, and that Americans are naturally compassionate people. This inspired her to dedicate most of her professional life to ensuring that people have the opportunity to pursue lives of dignity and financial independence.

As Director of the Peace Corps, Ms. Elaine Chao was one of the first Americans to personally embrace the people of the former communist bloc into the family of democratic nations, establishing Peace Corps programs in the Baltic nations of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and the newly independent states of the former Soviet Union. Later, as President and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of America, she restored public trust and confidence after the organization was tarnished by mismanagement and financial abuse, thus preserving the nation's largest institution of private charitable giving.

The experience Ms. Elaine Chao gained at the United Way helping communities address their local needs prepared her to mobilize the Department of Labor to promote pathways to economic freedom for individuals and families working to achieve the American Dream. She describes her vision for America's workforce as one in which everyone can participate where jobs and opportunities are available for those leaving welfare, job training is accessible for those left behind, disability never bars a qualified person from the workplace, and where parents have an easier time balancing the responsibilities of work and home.

"Secretary Chao's previous government career includes serving as the Deputy Secretary at the U.S. Department of Transportation, Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, and Deputy Maritime Administrator in the U.S. Department of Transportation. She brings a wealth of business experience to the post, having worked as Vice President of Syndications at BankAmerica Capital Markets Group and a banker with Citicorp. Prior to her nomination as Secretary, she expanded her study of policy as a Distinguished Fellow at The Heritage Foundation, a Washington-based public policy research and educational institute. She was selected as a White House Fellow in 1983," states the Department.*13

Following the inspiration of the past many years of the accomplishment of Ms. Elaine Chao's contribution of humane spirit to our society, we have the persistense of Wou Shien's spirit for education here in America. If a coolie and hard woker like him could dedicate to eduction by offering all his income and life to build a school for children in his village, what should not for us to offer our efforts for our community?*14

To serve the community with wisdom and effort is the main creed of Washington Business and Technology Institute. It is our pleasure to post the Press Release from the Office of Governor Kenny Guinn on March 16, 2004 as in the following:*15

GOV. GUINN, SECRETARY OF LABOR CHAO ANNOUNCE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY INITIATIVE FOR HISPANIC WORKERS

CARSON CITY - Gov. Kenny Guinn joined U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao in announcing a major hospitality industry grant for Hispanic workers in Las Vegas on Tuesday, March 16.

Secretary Chao awarded a federal grant to the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees (HERE) for their Hi-Demand program. HERE is partnering with its signatory hospitality industry employers and Nevada Partners, Inc., a community-based training provider. Together, they will help prepare Hispanic workers with the skills required for opportunities in the growing hospitality industry in Las Vegas, as well as in Atlantic City, N.J.

"This is an important initiative for Southern Nevada~{!&~}s largest industry and for the fastest growing segment of our population," Gov. Guinn said. "Training is a critical component of any economic development strategy. We appreciate the Department of Labor's support of this project."

The Hi-Demand project has several important objectives:

*** Increase the availability of qualified, skilled workers for entry-level and higher-skilled hospitality industry positions from the growing labor pool of immigrants, new citizens and workers with limited English proficiency.

*** Eliminate language skill barriers for limited English proficient new entrants to the workforce and eliminate career ladder barriers for limited English proficient incumbent workers in the hospitality industry.

*** Enhance the workforce development system's ability to prepare limited English proficient workers to enter the workforce.

*** Provide meaningful access to federally funded assistance for people with limited English proficiency.

*** Support the development of new training partnerships to satisfy demand in other major hospitality industry markets.

The Department of Labor, in response to President George W. Bush's Presidential Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans, has supported collaboration between employers, community colleges and the public workforce system to help Hispanic Americans build the skills required in growing industries such as the hospitality sector. The Department of Labor has encouraged the development of language and occupational skills and is working to keep Hispanic youth on an educational path that leads to rewarding careers.*16

August is Child Support Enforcement Month
By Dr. Kenny C. Guinn*1

Child support enforcement in Nevada makes a strong effort to ensure that child support payments are a more reliable source of income for custodial parents, thereby helping families to become more self-sufficient.

Over the past few years, Nevada抯 Division of Welfare and Supportive Services Child Support Enforcement Program has worked in partnership with County District Attorneys offices to increase child support payments legally owed by parents who live outside the primary residence of the children. During fiscal year 2006, this collaborative effort resulted in a near $10 million increase in child support payments. These increased payments help provide the children of these non-custodial parents with necessary care, clothing, food, and other essential items, thus lowering the threshold that state agencies must meet to ensure their well-being.

Another recent advancement initiated by the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services Child Support Enforcement Program is a system that disburses child support payments electronically to Nevada families, thus providing a safer and quicker alternative to regular mail. The new system also saves taxpayer dollars be eliminating printing and disbursing costs.

Efforts are currently underway in Washoe County to replicate the highly successful Employment Assistance Program (EAP), which currently serves the greater Las Vegas community, in Washoe County. EAP assists non-custodial parents in acquiring basic job seeking skills, job readiness and placement assistance, and support services. This successful program boasts a 10 percent monthly job placement rate.

In addition to these important services, several initiatives are aimed at improving the establishment of paternity, including online access to the state抯 birth records database by case managers, the Hospital Based Paternity Program, and the addition of Paternity Investigators specifically dedicated to the Investigation and Recovery Unit.

These Child Support Enforcement Program services play a vital role in helping to establish positive, nurturing environments where children can thrive and grow to become confident, healthy, and productive adults.

Power of positive praise
By Tiffany Chang and PAI of WBTI*1

It is safe to say that the deepest craving of human nature is the need to feel appreciated. Most of the things we do are prompted by a desire to feel important. Usually, people have a way of becoming what you encourage them to be---not what you nag them to be. A person may not be as good as you tell him he is, but he'll try harder thereafter. Management is nothing more than to motivate others.

We are pleased to quote the following three short but meaningful ones:

***** You never know when a moment and a few sincere words can have an impact on a life. ---Zig Ziglar

***** When someone does something good, applaud! You will make two people happy. ---Samuel Goldwyn

***** People love others not for who they are but for how they make us feel! ---Irwin Federman*2

It's our pleasure to post a short story from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren:

Compliments are like potato chips. Once you've had one you look for more.
Offering compliments based on a person's character or actions inspires them to perform in such a manner that invites additional praise. People tend to live up to the compliments they receive.
William James said, "All of us, in the glowof feeling we have pleased, want to do more to please."
Combine the truth with the psycholinguistic research that indicates a person's mind takes 48 percent longer to understand a negative statement than a positive one and compliments become a dynamic force in motivating others.
The story is told of a newspaper cartoonist who amused himself one summer day by sending telegrams to twenty acquaintances selected at random. Each message contained only one word, "Congratulations." As far as he knew, not one of them had done anything in particular to be congratulated on. However, each took the message as a matter of fact and wrote him a letter of thanks. Everyone who received the message had done something that they regarded as clever and worthy of congratulations.
The power of praise is limited only by its lack of use. How many people do you know who could benefit from a sincere "congratulations" or "great job" or possibly even "you're the best'? Silent appreciation dosn't mean much. Let others know your positive regards toward them. They'll live up to your compliment.*3

How valuable is the spiritual significance of "To serve and to give heartily"!
By Tiffany Chang

To honor God in all we do.
To help people develop.
To pursue excellence.
You grow profitably.

--------------------------------------------
This Sunday on Auust 13, 2006, the Sermon was delivered by Rev. Hing Chai Cheng, Associate Pastor of River of Life Christian Church. The theme was on "To love is to give." The Worship was directed by Mr. Henry Hu.

It's our pleasure to post a short story from "Speaker's Source Book II" by Glenn Van Ekeren:

Twenty-five centuries ago, Lao-tse, a Chinese sage, offered this profound insight;
"The reason why rivers and seas receives the homage of a hundred mountain streams is that they keep below them. Thus they are able to reign over all the mountain streams. So the sage, wishing to be above men, putteth himself below them; wishing to be before them, he putteth himself behind them. Thus, though his place be above men, they do not feel his weight; though his place be before them, they do not count it an injury."
So it is with humankind. Those who wish to yield the greatest influence will unselfishly position themselves below others, so as to serve them better.
Bruce Barton told a parable two seas in Palestine that expounds on the wisdom of Lao-tse. One sea is flesh. Fish live in it. Trees and bushes grow near it. Children splash and paly in it. The river Jordan flows into this sea with sparkling water from the hills. People build their homes near it. Every kind of life is happier because it is there. The same river Jordan flows south into another sea. Here there are no fish, no green things, no children playing, no homes a building. Stale air hangs above its waters, and neither man nor beast will drink of it. What makes the difference between these neighbor seas? Not the Jordan River. It empties the same good water into both. Nor is the soil or the countryside.
The differnece is that the Sea of Galilee receives water but does not keep it. For every drop that flows in, another drop flows out. The giving and receiving go on in equal measure. The other sea hoards its income. Every drop it gets it keeps. The Sea of Galilee lives and lives. The other sea gives nothing. It is called the Dead Sea.
There are also two kinds of people in this world---those Dead Sea people who take without giving back, and the givers who remain fresh and vibrant by freely sharing of themselves.*1

Highly blessed by God, The English Service of River of Life Christian Church was growing. The specific charater of the event has been highlighted by the Coffee/Tea Fellowship. On Sunday, August 13, 2006, we had Rev. Hing-Chai Cheng, Mr. Henry Hu, Mr. Kevin Gordon (Kevin Gordon, Esq.), Pastor Doris Lin (Miss Doris Lin), Mr. John Lei, Mrs. Jessica Wong, Mr. Walter Wong, Mr. Patrick Nolan, Ms. Lynn Ling Yang, Miss Vivian Chao, Miss Frances Chang, Miss Mariany Lee, Miss Tine Lo, Mr. Gino Ko, Miss Angel Ku, Miss Prudy Yu, Miss Orchid Soh, Mr. Meung Kim, Miss Esther Huang, Miss Vera Suherman, Miss Nicole Ying, Miss Emily Ho, Miss Heidi Hsu, Mr. Arthur Quach, Yee Tuck Yong, Miss Merry Xiao, Dr. and Mrs. Tony Tung-tien Lei, and among others (names in random). The atmosphere of the Fellowship was pleasent and friendly. Hallelujah!

"The Gospel of Jesus Christ; How to Become a Christian" and "How to Receive Jesus Christ as Your Savior and Thus Become a Christian" written by Kevin P. Gordon, Esq., were posted in this section on August 8-9, 2006. "I will leave for Togo, Africa tomorrow afternoon for a mission trip" written by John K. Lei and Jennifer Kung was also posted the next day.

Brothers and Sisters from the English Service responded with applauses:

"Dear Dr. Lei, It was very nice talking with you on Sunday at River of Life Christian Church. Thank you for your and your wife for providing food for the reception after the church service. I have attached the final versions of the two papers that I have written. They are both on the topic of how someone can receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and thus become a Christian. One is a two page version and one is a longer eight page version. Thank you for all of your help," wrote Kevin Gordon, Esq. After the articles were posted, he wrote again that "Thank you for posting my articles on the WBTI's website."

"Thank you for passing this web. I've never known that Kevin has posted our church article in the web (The two articles were written by Kevin for WBTI's website). Yes, it is very nice to have you and auntie in this fellowship. And, your serving heart. I'll pray for John trip to Togo. He would be a blessing and he would receive blessings, as well. Please let me know, if you or auntie needs assistance or help. -Mariany," wrote Miss Mariany Lee.

"Thank you for informing me that you have updated an article on the WBTI website. As John stated, with the list we will be able to pray specifically for our church's mission team to Togo. ... God will continue to bless John and those that he loves richly because of his faithfulness. ... I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts regarding the articles I have read on the WBTI's website. Give me sometime time to reflect on what I have read I will send you 'a few words'," wrote Miss Esther Huang.

"Thank you for inviting all of us yesterday. We enjoyed and had a very good time. If you or Mrs. Lei need any help while John is in mission trip, please feel free to call me at 408-368-????. Thanks again, Love in Christ," wrote Miss Vivian Chao.

As reminded by Judy for the English Service, Miss Christine Tsai wrote, "I will try to make it if possible. Thanks to Judy. Have a nice weekend! ... We do pary for John's mission trip in Africa. They will have a safe and peace trip there," wrote Miss Christine Tsai.

"Thanks for asking about us. ... Cathy has also been busy with some year-end accounting at Cisco but that just ended last week. ... We will still come by to visit ROLCC every so often," wrote Mr. Tony Tsai. The famly includes Mr. Anothny Tsai, Mrs. Cathy Tsai, and Miss Christina (Ping) Tsai.

The Coffee/Tea Fellowship this Sunday (and every week in August) was highlightened by the "to serve and to give heartily" of Lei's family: John helped promote the Sevice and Fellowship. Judy coocked the whole things of the "Chau Fian" (chau rice) and prepared the salad. Tony has inspired the the spirit and value of the English Service and Fellowship of River of Life Christian Church through publications locally, natioally, and internationally.

Miss Vivian Chao joined Judy in preparing for the food of the Coffee/Tea Fellowship. She prepared the fruits and cakes.

As a sincere believer of God, we found that we can even live as in the heaven in this World at the present. Whether people is living in the Heaven or in the Hell is up to his or her selection. With sincere love, you are likely to live in the Heaven. With cruel hate, you are likely live in the Hell. To fight and destroy each others for property and fame is where the place called Hell. To cooperate with each others to promote our quality of life will be the place where we people may make it as a Heaven.*2

Therfore, the Heaven is where the place full of love while the Hell is where the place full of hate. It is all depending on your heart to see whether you are in the Heaven or in the Hell. By using this standard, you may measure the quality or depth of yours in the Heaven or your in the Hell.

Accordng to the oriental (not Asian) ways of life, people would suspect the one who always find out and praise the good characters and accomplishment of others. In the many thousand years of the past, it was one of the factor that hurt the encouragement for innovation and science development for the Asian people and countries.

After a full applause by the audience at his speech, a professor automatically spoke his mind: "The people who enthusiastically give a hand to others, will certainly one day get a lot of more applauses!"

Everytime when he was encouraged and praised by an individual, Dr. Tony Lei used to remind: "The one who knows how to praise other people, is the one herself or himself having certainly lots of more goodness which are worth for us to praise for!" *3

With honor as the Assistant Democratic Leader (now the Democratic Leader) of U. S. Senate, Senator Harry Reid wrote Dr. and Mrs. Tony Tung-tien Lei on January 11, 2001 from his office in Washington, D. C.: "The holiday season is a time for remembering the good things that have happened during the year, for reflecting on the many blessings of our lives, and for renewing the bonds of love and friendship that make our lives special." *4

The famous political leader from Nevada continued his literary and intimate writing that, "This year has been eventful for the Reid family. Our first child, Lana, and our three grandchildren live in the Washington area. Roary and three more of our grandchildren live in Las Vegas. Leif is in Reno with two more grandchildren and have just told us another is on the way.

Josh just passed the bar, is living in Reno and also has announced our new daughter-in-law is expecting. Finally, our youngest, Key, lives in the Washington DC area with our newest grandchild. So, as you can see, we have the pleasure of grandchildren in each of our frequent stops, Las Vegas, Reno and Washington." *5

The Bible says: "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" (Matthew 6:26) Take what the Senator said to Dr. Tony Lei in his letter that, "On behalf of Landra and our family, I want to thank you thinking of us during this holiday season. Each holiday greeting reminds us that we are truly fortunate to have so many friends and loved ones with whom to share this special time." And if a humble individual like Dr. Lei may be treated so friendly by our Senator Reid, obviously everyone of us in Nevada would be taken care by his extended kindness. And this be our mode: "In God is our trust!"

His love to his family and his friends revealled his dignified and humane spirit through his words in the letter. For a great and powerful person like him to have such a beautiful and kind heart is really the glory of God. "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil, cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves," says the Bible. (Romans 12:9-10) At the end of the letter, the famous U.S. Senator said that, "The Reid family has been richly blessed and we look forward to the years ahead. I hope that the season brings happiness and good fortune to you and your loved ones. With warmest regards." *6

"We have healing ministry after Holy Communion every month. Why do we want to do that? It's because we see clearly in the bible that Jesus's ministry always involves preaching the kingdom of God and healing the sick. Even on the night of His betrayal, He was still healing the ear of the soldier arresting Him. Besides, He also sent out the disciples two by two and commanded them to do two things: to preach and to heal the sick. When addressing the great commission given by the Lord, Mathew put his emphasis on preaching the gospel and Mark put it on healing the sick. So, we cansee, the church today must minister in preaching as well as healing," wrote Rev. Tong Liu, Senior Pastor of River of Life Christian Church, Santa Clara, California.*7

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."
--- Galatians 5:22 of the Bible

To a friend's house the road is never long. Let's share together with some of the golden words about firendship from the Bible:*8
***** Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. ---Romans 12:10
***** Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel. ---Proverbs 27:9
***** Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. ---John 15:13-15
***** He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend. ---Proverbs 22-11*9

"Having healing prayer ministry does not mean that we want to replace the healing through doctors or medications. We believe God has grace for medical healing and prayer healing. To the believers, this means we have double grace and blessing. We should not neglect healing through prayer," pointed out Senior Paster Tong Liu.*10

U. S. Senator-elect John Ensign's great-grandfather first came to Nevada almost a hundred years ago as a miner and labored in its towns. This respectable man worked hard to provide for his family and taught his children the value of hard work, integrity, and independence. "The significance of life is to build and educate the continuous lives of the universe," said Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI). People came to America to seek the American dream. Even though not all of them can realize their American dream, eventually they could teach and help their children accomplish their contributions to our country.*11

As a born-again Christian, people have been inspired by his sincererity, humbleness, and credibility much more than just his wealthy and handsome appearance now. On October 15, John attended the worship service of the Liberty Baptist Church. He offered a short speech of testifmony. He said that he was very frustrated with his first taste of political failure, when he lost by a mere 428 votes to U. S. Senator Harry Reid. However, he believes God and has surrendered his fate to God. John's faith in God helped him to overcome his frustration and disappointment and enabled him to continue to strive to succeed. The Bible says "...though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed (1 Peter 1:6-7)". If a window was closed, God might re-open the window or even open a different door for those who are eager to utilize his or her knowledge and expertise to serve. As all Christians acknowledge - with God, anything is possible.*12

"Why do we have to do it in the public? Why can't we just pray in our own close? This is a faith lesson. It takes faith for the sick to come to the altar. It also takes faith for the prayer team to lay hands on you and proclaim healing. Faith is the essential element for healing prayer. Therefore, we must prepare ourselves for the healing ministry so it will bring God's glory. I believe God not only calls our church to worship but also to be a church of prayer. Let us learn the lesson together humility," concluded Rev. Tong Liu in his message.*13

For many years, we taught people successfully to make money through the modern knowledge of organization and management in business. For the years to go, we will continue to encourage our friends to love the God, and to love our people, professionalism, community, and country.*14

In this 21st Century new era and society, we need economic growth and personal prosperity, but we need also to establish and promote creativity, fairness and justice, serve and love, educational knowledge, and spirit engineering. We wish that a pure fountain may prosper and enrich our splendid and silver country through: the power of public service that based on knowledge is the power of rightousness; the advancement of technology, entreprenueship, and innovation; and the spirit that knowledge calls, ultimately, for a life of service.*15

In Revelation 22:1-3 of the Bible, it stated that "Then the angel showed me the river of water of life, as clear as crystal, flwing from the throne of god and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations."

We believe the spiritual significance of "To serve and to give heartily". The English Service of River of Life Christian Church is blessing!*16

Jesus said, "Everyone who bears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." --- Matthew 7:24-25 of the "Bible"

Our knowledge, wisdom, and professionalism are all achieved by our sincere love to God!" said President Dr. Tony Lei of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).*17

D. Prabhu, MD, Chairperson, CAN-DO; among others. It planned to have Event Hosts: Dolly DeLeon, Past President, Philippine Chamber of Commerce, and Editor-in-Chief, "US Asian Chronicle"; Romeo Jurani, Past President, Philippines Bisayans Society of Nevada; Steven Kwon, Past President & Founder, Asian Chamber of Commerce; Vimla Lendway, Exceptional Travel Service; L. Guests who invited by Dr. Tony Lei, Chairman of Chinese American Academic Association of Nevada and his wife Judy are: Miss Agnas Chan, Ms. Helen Hsueh, Mr. Jimmy Hsu, Miss Christine Hu, Mr. Xiao-sheng Huang , Mr. Reymond Lam, Mr. Mark Meng, Mr. Ja Pu, Dr. An-pyng Sun, and Mr. Yuan Chuan Tsai.

It was already popular for the past years to hold dinner parties to pay special tribute to elected offficials, but most of them were civil administratives or civic representatives.
Dr. Tony Lei initiated to hold event and dinner party to pay a spcial tribute to the judicial professionals through elections in Nevada. Justice Nancy Becker was the first one selected by him to pay a tribute. A successful event and dinner party was held for her on May 23, 2001 at Harbor Palace Restaurant in Las Vegas. It was chaired by Dr. Tony Lei, President of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI); Theresa Malone, Member of Nevada State Board of Education; Dr. R. D. Prabhu, Chairperson of CAN-DO; and Dr. Joey Villaflor, Member of Nevada Board of Health. We the Asian American communities have continuously achieved the efforts for other judicial professionals since then.

"To dedicate to the creed of Washington Business and Technology Institute, it's my challenge as an Associate Fellow of it's Public Administration Institution (PAI) to endeavor with all the intellectuals of this Institute to improve the quality of life of the people of Nevada," said Jennifer Togliatti at the Dinner Party on May 17, 2002. The Event with dinner was held by the Asian American Community to pay a special tribute to District Judges Michelle Leavitt and Jennifer Togliatti at the Harbor Palace Seafood Restaurant in Las Vegas.

Judge Michelle Leavitt deserves special recognition of her expertise, integrity, conscientious and dedicated professionalism. She has been a bright Associate Fellow of PAI since 2000. "Thanks to Dr. Tony Lei, Dr. R. D. Prabhu, and Attorney David Amesbury to chair this Event and Party. Together with knowledge as the power of rightiousness, we may build a community where this and future generations will have more opportunities and advantages to live a prosperous and healthy life," said Judge Michelle Leavitt at the Dinner Party.*2

We are deeply regret and sorry that Judge Michelle Leavitt's father passed away weeks ago on a Friday. Myron Leavitt, 73, a Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court, who had a long political career in Nevada. He was born in Las Vegas. Myron was a football and track athlete at the University of Nevada at Reno, where he earned a journalism degree. He worked a year as sports editor of the Las Vegas Review-Journal before studying law at the University of Utah.*3

Myron had private law practice for 28 years. He served as a Councilman of Las Vegas, a Commissioner Clark County and a Justice of the Peace before winning election as Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1979 to 1983.

Leavitt served as a Clark County District Court Judge for 15 years before winning a Supreme Court position as one of its Justice in 1998.*4 The late Myron Leavitt is honored as a Memorial Fellow of the Public Administration Institution (PAI) of Washingoton Business and Technology Institute (WBTI) on February 4, 2004.

"I can't help thinking about Justice Myron Leavitt, our long time Asian American friend of Nevada, who died so unexpectedly. This brings to my mind the urgency of our times in Las Vegas. We note the vanishing of many heroes that built the world of Nevada after 1963. We recognize that the best way to honor those who have gone before us is to rise up and find the greatness in our own lives, the strength of charater, the vision and courage, the determination and selflessness to address the challenges that still lay before us," says Dr. Tony Lei, President of WBTI, for the Event and Dinner Party held by the Asian American Community of Nevada on February 4, 2004 in Las Vegas.

Asian American Community has won recognition for contribution to Nevada by the American Mainstream. The main reason for this recognition is the great and cooperative wisdom and effort that we the Asian American communities have continuously participated and offered to the mainstream society in Nevada.*5

U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley wins full funding for SOUTHERN NEVADA VA MEDICAL CENTER
By Michael L. Douglas, Berkley for Congress, Robert A. Gronauer, and Tiffany Chang

U. S. Congresswoman Shelley Berkley won approval from the House Veterans Affairs Committee for $406 million needed to construct Southern Nevada's first VA medical complex, which is scheduled to break ground in late 2006. "This is a win for Nevada veterans and will help ensure that we receive the full $406 million needed to build the Valley's first VA hospital, outpatient clinic and long-term care facility.*1

It is our pleasure to post the following information of "About Shelley Berkley":

A Lifetime of Commitment to Nevada

Shelley Berkley has shown a lifetime of commitment to serving the needs of southern Nevada's families. From her high school days as a volunteer at a local hospital, through her terms as a Nevada State Assemblywoman and member of Nevada抯 University and Community College System Board of Regents, and now as a member of the United States House of Representatives, Shelley Berkley has been a passionate advocate for southern Nevada抯 working families.*2

Shelley抯 family first came to Las Vegas almost 40 years ago, looking for new opportunities and a better way of life. These same dreams are now bringing 5,000 additional people a month to the Las Vegas Valley. This population boom has made her district one of the fastest growing in the country and presents unique challenges for the area, all of which Shelley has tackled head on.

The Las Vegas Valley has the fastest growing school-age population in the country. Providing a high-quality public education for our children is a priority for Shelley. During her tenure in Congress, she secured substantial funding for Clark County Schools, enabling them to hire hundreds of additional new teachers. This year she led the effort to increase funding for programs aimed at reducing student dropout rates and expanding after school programs for high-risk districts like Clark County. She is also a strong supporter of 揝afe and Drug Free Schools initiatives and federally-backed, zero interest school construction bonds.

Shelley is also committed to improving our health care. From her first days in Congress, she has been a vocal advocate for creating a voluntary prescription drug benefit under Medicare. She also supports passing an enforceable Patients Bill of Rights and extending affordable health insurance to every American family. She is the author of pending legislation that will reduce red tape for doctors treating Medicare patients and will improve health care access for seniors.

Shelley has introduced legislation to spur development of technological solutions to the enormous threat caused by nuclear waste across this country. Her breakthrough proposal would make the transportation of over 100,000 shipments of deadly nuclear waste across the U.S. to Nevada to unnecessary. Shelley is a champion of alternative energy development. She supports policies to spur expansion of wind, solar, geothermal, bio fuels and other renewable resources so the United States can become independent of foreign oil and phase out radioactive waste producing nuclear power plants.

Since the Congresswoman has lived in Las Vegas for over four decades, she has a deep sense of commitment to give back to the community that opened the doors of opportunity for her. She also has never forgotten that her family headed west seeking a better life, and found it in Las Vegas.

She attended John C. Fremont Jr. High School and Valley High School. She became the first person in her family to go to college, graduating from UNLV with honors in 1972. Elected Student Body President, 1971-1972, she graduated with honors and a B.A. in Political Science from UNLV in 1972. After earning her law degree at the University of San Diego School of Law in 1976, Shelley returned to Las Vegas to begin her career.

Congresswoman Shelley Berkley began serving in the U.S. House of Representatives in January, 1999. Shelley represents constituents living in the First Congressional District of Nevada, including residents of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and unincorporated areas in Clark County.

Previous Public Offices

Shelley is a former Vice Chair of the Nevada University and Community College System Board of Regents. Appointed to the Board in 1990 by the Governor, she subsequently served two terms. She completed her second term on the Board in 1998. Throughout her tenure, Shelley worked to keep higher education in Nevada affordable and accessible to all qualified students.

Serving in the Nevada State Assembly from 1982 through 1984, Shelley championed consumer protection for car buyers and mobile home owners, fought for tougher drunk driving laws, and founded the Senior Law Project.

Accomplishment in Industry

Shelley Berkley has held key positions in the private sector during a career that spans nearly a quarter of a century:

Former Vice President of Government and Legal Affairs, Sands Hotel.

Former Chair, Board of the Nevada Hotel and Motel Association.

Past member, Board of Trustees of Sunrise-Columbia Hospital (an unpaid position).

Former In-House counsel for Southwest Gas Corp.

Former Deputy Director, Nevada State Commerce Department.

Member, County, State and National Bar Association.
Former National Director of the American Hotel-Motel Association.

Served as a Delegate to the White House Conference on Tourism.

Personal

Shelley Berkley is the proud mother of two sons; Sam, who recently returned from studying in Israel and will be attending UNLV in the Fall of 2005, and Max, a recent graduate of University of Arizona. In March of 1999, she married Dr. Lawrence Lehrner a practicing Nephrologist in Las Vegas who has two children of his own; David, putting his graduate degree from Indiana University to use at MGM Mirage, and Stephanie, a Family Practice physician. In her limited leisure time, Congresswoman Berkley enjoys historical fiction and entertaining guests with her gourmet cooking.

Meet Steve Martin, new State Controller of Nevada
By Valerie Weber and Tiffany Chang

***** "Few things help an individual more than to place responsibility upon him and to let him know that you trust him." --- Booker T. Washington

"I would like to thank all of those who have sent their congratulations on my appointment by the Governor to be the Nevada State Controller. The circumstances of my appointment are unfortunate, but I will work to ensure that your trust in me in not misplaced," wrote Steve Martin, CPA, CFE, CVA, to Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).*1 "As a CPA and CFE, I look forward to contributing to improving the office of State Controller. Also, please change my e-mail to smartinc@hughes.net. This will enable me to maintain the many valuable contacts." *2

"Governor Kenny Guinn today appointed Steve Martin, 58, to fill the remaining term of office of State Controller Kathy Augustine, following her untimely death on July 11, 2006. Martin will officially be sworn into office in Las Vegas on Thursday, July 13, at 1:15 PM, in the Governor抯 Office located in the Grant Sawyer Building," stated by Office of the Governor in its press release on Nevada GOVERNOR Kenny Guinn APPOINTS STEVE MARTIN STATE CONTROLLER.

"We mourn the passing of Kathy Augustine and send our condolences to her family, but it is important that we ensure that the Controller抯 office is legally able to fulfill its duties, including issuing checks and other matters related to the agency," Gov. Guinn said. "Therefore, it was vital to appoint a person with the qualifications and background to complete the duties of State Controller as quickly as possible. As a Certified Public Accountant with a Masters Degree in Accounting, Steve Martin certainly meets those standards." *3

On his appointment, Martin said, "I am grateful and appreciative of Gov. Guinn抯 support and confidence in my ability to uphold the duties of State Controller. One of my first responsibilities will be to meet with the staff of the Controller抯 office and hopefully provide a level of comfort about the transition period following the tragic death of Kathy Augustine."*4

"A U.S. Marine Corp veteran who attained the rank of major, Martin currently owns a successful Certified Public Accounting business that specializes in financial and fraud audits for businesses, as well as tax and business consulting. Previously, he was President and Chief Financial Officer for a Houston, Texas international import company, and is a former Adjunct Professor of Accounting at the Community College of Southern Nevada," pointed out Office of the Governor.

Martin completed a Bachelors Degree from George Washington University while in the Marine Corps, and later earned a Masters Degree in Accounting from Nova Southeastern University. After receiving his Masters Degree and becoming a CPA, he participated in fraud investigations conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

"According to the Nevada Constitution, Article 17, Section 22, in the case of the death of a constitutional officer, the governor appoints a qualified individual to complete the term until the next election," concluded Office of the Governor in the press release.*5

2006 Lake Tahoe Summit to Take Place
By Dr. Kenny C. Guinn*1

On August 10, I will join with other prominent government, business, and community leaders to discuss issues surrounding Lake Tahoe at the 9th Annual Lake Tahoe Summit. This year抯 Summit will take place at Sand Harbor State Park. Featured speakers include Dirk Kempthorne, U.S. Secretary of the Interior; Stephen Johnson, Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; and U.S. Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign.

Lake Tahoe is one of the most picturesque places on earth, aptly named the 揓ewel of the Sierras by Mark Twain many years ago. These Summits serve as a vital step in combining our efforts on the state and federal level to protect this natural beauty for generations to come.

The first Lake Tahoe Summit, organized by Senator Reid, was held in 1997 and included then-President Bill Clinton. Each year since, representatives from California, Nevada, and the federal government have gathered with environmental groups and business organizations to discuss ways to protect and preserve the world renowned clarity of Lake Tahoe.

California and Nevada share with the federal government the responsibility of keeping this beautiful lake as pristine as possible. It is a duty we willfully accept on behalf of visitors from around the United States and the world, who travel here to take in the magnificent beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin.

George Whittell is one of the greatest benefactors of this lake; a man whose generosity is chiefly responsible for spectacular areas of Lake Tahoe remaining public land. In 1958, he leased the nine-acre site that contains Sand Harbor to the state for the purpose of creating a state park. Sand Harbor quickly became the most popular and most frequented park in the Nevada State Park System.

Countless people have played major roles in keeping the Lake Tahoe the 揓ewel of the Sierras for generations of visitors梖rom private citizens to business and private sector organizations to government agencies. Thanks to their dedication and long-range planning, as mark Twain said, Lake Tahoe will remain 搕he fairest picture the whole earth affords for our children and grandchildren.

In the initiative period of the business administration program at the National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan, "Human Relations" had been an important course of the curriculums of its Department and Graduate School of Business Administration. "It is important for a manager to own the philosophy of management of 'The reaching of peak management achievement through successful work performance both on good production and human relations,'" pointed out Dr. Tony Tung-tien Lei in his text book entitled "Modern Business Management" *1 in 1973. Dr. Tony Lei taught a three units course "Human Relations" at the Graduate School.

The current popularlity of the "EQ for success" has been a critical emphasis and development of the importance of human relations in business.

We are pleased to quote the following feature article*2:

Increase Your Potential and EQ for Success
By Natalie Tyrrell*3 and Tiffany Chang

"It's been said there are three kinds of people: (1) Those who watch things happen. (2) Those who make things happen. (3) Those who wonder what happened? Don't be part of the third catergory of clueless people who wonder around aimlessly. It is not enough to breathe a sigh and figure that your learning days areover. Here you are in this world, this world that is undeniable the way it is. You can do nothing to change what happended in the past, yet you can do everything to vastly improve what lies in the future. You have the ability to build, to create, to improve yourself and your future. You can MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. Remember you have immense potential. Your future is vast and awesome. If you keep learning and improving, your destiny will bring you long term happiness, enrichment, success, love and much more. As the martial art student realized, his reward of the black belt represented the beginning - the start of a never-ending journey of discipline, work and the pursuit of an ever-higher standard. 'What is the true meaning of the diploma you are about to receive?' This is your Commencement Day. And it is only fitting to say to you, as we salute you for your accomplishment, that, truly, this is only the beginning," delivered the Commencement Speech at SMHS 2002 recently by Becky Ung, President of the School Board for San Marino Unified School District, California.

Becky is a national and international famous Speaker in California, United States; Taipei, Taiwan; and Beijing, Shanghai, Amoy, China. She has published a numerious Vidio Tapes, feature articles, and books. Her recent famous book named "What you Wish is What you Get" was published by Songan Publishing Inc. in 2001 at Taipei, Taiwan. Becky has been honored as an Assistant Fellow of the Culture Institution (CI) of Washington Business and Technology Institute (WBTI).*4

"I am delighted by this honor. Thank you for the appointment. I think this is the biggest title that I have ever held!" Becky sent an e-mail to Dr. Tony Lei, President of WBTI, on May 19, 2002.

"Besides what I'm already doing in my teaching goal, I'd like to continue to introduce and integrate the best of American culture and social into Chinese churches and families to help them in the assimilation process. People have to pursue, accept, and embrace all kinds of opportunities and challenges that lives have to offer. I encourage them to utilize their potential to the fullest extent. I believe awareness is a pre-requisite to a happy and successful life. I'll do my best to serve the Lord and follow His will. I'll also devote my time, talents, and resources to help others and make a difference in their lives," she spoke to the public.

"As an Assistant Fellow of the Culture Institution of Washington Business and Technology Institute, it's my precious opportunity to realize my potential of entrepreneuship to work with all these outstanding faculty members of WBTI under the encouragement and spiritual leadeship of Elaine Chao who has been honored as the Chairperson of this Institute," said Becky Ung.*5
